  1. I just had coffee but I really like the place. very cute, very french, very pleasant to have a coffee with a friend. I don't go out to UES much but If I found myself in the area I will go back because it bring you this cozy feeling that you are looking for in winter.

  2. My wife and I stopped here for a quick breakfast on our way to the MET. This is a charming little restaurant on the upper east side — the line was out the door but the staff was moving with a serious sense of urgency.

We ordered a panini and some yogurt, and both were really good (especially for the price). I also had some excellent coffee there. I observed quite a few people order other things and they all looked good as well. If I were ever fortunate enough to live in the upper east side (Fat chance), I would probably be a frequent visitor at Bel Ami!

  3. Stopped in for a panini but they were sold out. Had a small turkey baguette thing and a brownie instead. Weird uppity Madison Ave. vibes (as is to be expected). I sat on the bench outside and ended up meeting a kind elderly Polish woman who was waiting for the bus to visit a friend at NY Presbyterian. She was wonderful; Bel Ami was average. The end 🙂

  4. Really small shop. The line was long and out the door. They pour the milk in for you for the iced coffees. But pretty fast service and good looking macaroons and cakes

  5. Staff is very friendly. Quaint French cafe. $36 for 12 macarons. And the macarons are so worth it!

  6. After a day at the Frick, my friend suggested we do lunch at Bel Ami, one of her favorite places.

Bel Ami is super cute, but on the tinier side, then again, it IS on the UES and property there can't be cheap. Which explains the slighter higher than starbucks prices.

We walked in, grabbed a table and then my friends and we hit the counter. I'll admit, I was a little unprepared, so it was a little overwhelming. What did I want to eat?! There is a very large selection of sandwiches, salads, etc. The other counter has all the sweet stuff. MACCOONS! Croissants, eclairs, panna cotta, tiramisu, etc. My BFF got the goatcheese sandwich, a mini croissant and a cappuccino. My other friend got a lox and cream cheese bagel and a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. I got a baguette with sun dried tomatoes and mozz.

The food was very fresh and good. A little on the pricier side for the size of the food. But I'll admit, the smaller size made it easier to eat. The staff was nice and efficient and they didn't try and hurry us out. Would hit this place up again next time I'm in the area.

  7. Tiny cafe nestled in the UES. I stumbled upon this during my afternoon walk and loved the iced coffee! I can always appreciate a cafe that gives me light ice without me asking!

Didn't get to try, but they had a reasonable array of dessert options (macaroons, eclairs, the fancy pancy stuff). Not a big fan of that variety, but I would like to come back and try their other caffeinated drinks!

  8. Came here for a pick me up tea after a stroll in central park. The mint green was the perfect cup! Macarons were good but a bit dense. Love the area and the vibe of the cafe. Friendly service and a nice place to catch up with a friend or read a good book!
