Good Enough To Eat

“You can find strawberry butter several places in NY, but GETE's is so creamy and easy to spread you almost want to sneak some home with you.”

“It can get a little crowded on the weekends but just wait by the white picket fence and you'll get in eventually.”

“I came here for dinner with my boyfriend while we were in the area apartment hunting, and this place alone is reason to move to the UWS.”

  1. OMG! BEST VEGGIE BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I am not a huge fan of absolutes but this is completely true. No wonder I have never been able to get in on a weekend for their brunch. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich In hot sauce and also loved it. He said the meat was high quality as well. We both felt that dining here on a week night was a good alternative to going on a weekend since it's understandably always so packed. He felt, as did i, that the service was on par with the high quality food they serve.

I would love to go back!

  2. This place is a hidden gem! We stopped here after a run through Central Park and absolutely loved the place! Delicious food, great service, and cute ambiance. My husband ordered bacon and eggs and said the bacon was the best he has ever had. Ever. And he eats a lot of bacon! My omelet was delicious as well. The show stopper was the biscuits with strawberry butter. Nannamnam! Seriously delicious!

  3. Yeah it was good enough to eat but not good enough to rave about. Our group got waffle, pancake, smoked salmon sandwich and a couple of omelettes. Everything was good and I was impressed by the amount of smoked salmon in the sandwich. Their strawberry and orange butters are a nice touch. The ambience is ok..they probably need to clean the corners and crevices of the restaurant because of all the dust that's accumulating by the booths.

  4. Where do i start? I followed the advice of my fellow Yelpers and tried the corned been hash. The reviews were spot on! It was hands down the BEST corned beef hash I ever had! Topped with two poached eggs cooked perfectly, the yolks drizzled down and mixed with it all. Huge chunks of corned beef and potatoes. Nothing shredded! Served with a side of two biscuits and their incredible strawberry butter, it was heaven! I tried the pancakes too and they were delicious! There was a long line outside but it moved quickly and we were only waiting for 20 min or so. We sat at the bar which is always fun as you can interact with other diners. Great food and a friendly staff. I'll definitely be back!

  5. This is a great breakfast/brunch spot on the upper west side! All of their food is high quality and made with love lol.

  6. Came for dinner but this place didn't really live up to the hype for me. My friend and I shared the spinach salad, a side of mac and cheese and biscuits with strawberry butter as starters. We then had the barbecue chicken sandwich and vegetable mountain, followed by the daily berry cobbler and a raspberry bar. My friend also had a lychee drink special that was great, though a little sweet.

The salad and vegetable entree were my favorite. My friend's sandwich was delicious, if a little heavy on the sauce for my liking, and the homemade potato chips were AMAZING. I was disappointed by the mac, which lacked the gooeyness and flavor of that at Jacob's Pickles'. I thought the biscuits were a little dry (good flavor though) and the butter was nothing spectacular. The desserts were great but I wish they'd heated up the cobbler, which was fairly cold.

Most importantly, we had pretty poor service and were ignored for periods of time though there weren't a lot of diners on this weeknight. We had 3 or 4 different waiters, so maybe that was the issue.

Maybe brunch is better, but there's no way I'm waiting ages in line for that.

  7. New location. Had pancakes with strawberry butter, fried eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee. It was just okay.

  8. Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday around 3, the short wait should have been my first hint something was up. The hostess wasn't very friendly or quick, it took her 15 minutes to seat 3 parties. The waitress was much more friendly and we ordered fairly quickly.

I had the corned beef hash. The nicest thing I can say about it was that the eggs were poached well. Overall it was fairly bland and I had to add salt and pepper, something I almost never do. The corned beef was pretty flavorless and I had some huge chunks of fat which was pretty gross in a dish like this. The potatoes were baked and large pieces and again underseasoned. The biscuits were the best part but were tiny.

My girlfriend went with the bacon waffle. It was a single waffle with a couple pieces of bacon in it, most certainly not "filled". I am absolutely shocked they charge $13 for what is essentially a large ego waffle with maybe a single strip of bacon in it. The waffle wasn't particularly good either as far as waffles go.

One of our friend got a side of bacon and that was just about the only thing that looked and tasted good. I really can't see any reason to come back here with all the other brunch options in the area.
