I usually don't like to write reviews for fast food places, because what do you really expect from them? But after sitting on the couch watching a Popeye commercial, and hearing about all the seasoning they put on the chicken, and how it has so much of a kick, I had to give it a try. So I lost my parking space in Park Slope, so you know I really wanted chicken, because parking is horrible! And drove to bay ridge. There was one girl working! She was the one taking the orders, handling money, and then putting the food in containers, so the wait was long. I also didn't like all the chicken just sitting there. But I ordered anyway, I did just lose valuable parking, I got the chicken strips which I seen on the commercial, mash potatoes, and macaroni & cheese. What a huge disappointment! Where was all the flavor they talked about? Because the chicken was dry as hell! And had zero flavor, they couldn't ever get the sides to taste good. Never again! If I want fast food chicken I will stick to KFC at least their chicken has some type of seasoning on it.
I like Popeyes, and don't expect any more or less from this location. Never super busy given the neighborhood, and it shares the storefront with a Burger King (years ago, the whole thing used to be Burger King).
Considered the better of the two, this Popeye's retail location is conjoined with it's under-whelming Burger King counterpart that does a ton of delivery business.
For what it's worth, most patron the Popeye's side for obvious reasons. I've been here occasionally once every blue moon on my "cheat day" but from what I've experienced, the service here is marginally better than most other Popeye's and that's not saying much of anything. However, the food is as good as I've had for this chain; whether it be dine-in or takeout- they serve their purpose.
There is abundant seating at ground level. During lunch hours typically the upper floor is open with additional seating. I've also not come across any problems with the order and they churn out orders quickly.
They often have specials posted on the window outside so do pay attention. Your food baby will thank you for it!
