We had a team dinner here and had a separate area booked for all of us to eat together.
The lighting in the area that we were in was really dim – I felt like I needed a flashlight to read the menu. We had put in our orders for food and ended up waiting a very long time since they seemed to serve one table at a time. Literally by the time we got our food, the table that received their food first was already done (we met up for our reservation at around 7:30pm, and didn't get our food till around 8:30/9:00pm). We had a set menu – i don't understand why they couldn't serve everyone at once. In terms of the food – it was alright. I can't even remember what I had off the top of my head (It was like … rigatoni). The only good part was the dessert, the tiramisu.
Our server was so awkward as well. He was on his phone most of the time, when he filled a glass of water for one of the girls at our table, he over-poured water that spilled on the table, when collecting the plates, dropped a food onto another person's shirt and when picking up the plates on my side of the table, dropped a utensil on me.
Maybe it's just me but i felt like outta all the places in NY, we could have gone somewhere else.
Just love Bello. Have ordered online numerous times. Our go to place for the most amazing Spaghetti Bolognese ever!!!! Huge portion… Angel Hair Primavera also fantastic!
Great food! Quick delivery … A great find!
This place was just ok. Their chicken fettuccine was average, and their spaghetti bolognese was better. The bread they give you was just standard as well.
Nothing special about this place, so I'd check out some other good Italian spots instead! I suppose the wine was ok, but that's just wine…
I lunched on the bronzini white fish, which was prepared perfect, with a pecan & fruit salad which was fresh. The service uhhhh after the lunch entree was served was shaken at best, average selection of desserts
Came in (early) before going to Lincoln Center. No problem getting a table, and staff couldn't have been more friendly. The caprese salad appetizer was delicious, as were both of our entrees (calamari diavolo / angel hair with veggies). The special of the day was a stuffed veal chop that sounded AMAZING….but I'd probably need a nap after that. We skipped dessert and coffee, and they promptly offered us some limoncello.
The food was comfort food and it was good. I don't mean that in a bad way – it was well done, it wasn't greasy, it was just done right. It really hit the spot.
The price was right, the environment was perfect. Next time I'm headed to the opera, we'll be stopping in here.
What a great place to eat a nice Italian meal. We came for lunch because we live in the area, and without any expectations or ideas of what we'd experience, and left delightfully surprised. Everything from the food and the service were excellent.
Atmosphere-wise, the decor is a little more contemporary, and I imagine it could make for a good date night. Since we went during lunch, the crowd was mostly businessmen from around the area. Noise-wise it got a little loud, I could hear pretty much every conversation from the other tables, but not a big deal.
I think our server's name was George, and he was wonderful. He gave us several recommendations from the menu, and was very gracious. The rest of the staff was quite attentive too, especially with refilling water and clearing plates.
Food-wise, we ordered the burrata mozzarella special, the carpaccio, and the mussels as appetizers, and the seafood linguini with white sauce, the soft shell crab special, and the mussels again as entrees. Both the specials were absolutely amazing, the burrata was so soft and creamy on the inside, and I usually dislike soft shell crab but this one was pan-fried and very crispy and salty and delicious. Definitely recommend getting the specials if you still can. The appetizer mussels came with a tomato based preparation, and the entree version came with a white wine sauce. Both were tasty, but in the entree a portion of the mussels didn't have any of the sauce flavor, just seemed to be steamed in plain water 🙁 The linguini was very tasty, and quite buttery, definitely a good choice is you're looking for something heavier. We also had a slice of meringue cake (I think that's what it was called) for dessert which was yummy too. It was served chilled and almost had an amaretto-like flavor.
Overall we loved our time here, and will be back sometime soon!
A very solid 3. If I had a different seat at a different table I would tempted to go 4 but the 3 1/2 rating average currently for Bello is about right.
About that seat, I was at a round table in the back right near the kitchen. I had the dreaded seat with my back to all the waiter traffic. Most of the waiters were good about it but a couple were not … but all were busting butt and rushing around. I was there for a business meeting and if I had not been I would have declined the table. I took the worst seat to make sure customers had a good experience.
Anyway, the food was solid. Typical North East Italian fare. I had the chicken scallopini, and it tasted exactly the way it was supposed to. We had some mussels, stuffed clams and calamari for an appetizer. All were delicious. Recounting the meal maybe it was a 4 … but it is a 3 rating for you Bello for sticking me next the kitchen! 😉
You should feel free to check this place out. You probably won't be blown away but you likely will enjoy a good meal.
One word…..PASS!
This has to be the worst restaurant experience I have ever had!! Upon seating we were given some pretty crappy stale bread. If that wasn't enough, we we were also give a basket of homemade potato chips which were inedible due to the fact that they were literally covered in oil.
We ordered an appetizer of zucchini sticks which mimicked the potato chips (greasy). We sent them back without even a bite.
Then after waiting for almost 40 minutes our dinner finally arrived. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese. After one bite, that got returned too since the spaghetti would hardly even bend. Now don't get me wrong, I love al dente pasta, but this wasn't even that. It crunched in my mouth like a cracker. Not cool.
My husband ordered chicken marsala. We had two bites of it since ee were hungry and needed to get to our show. It lacked any type of flavor and didn't even look like marsala.
We paid the bill. After all that, they did not even try to make amends with us.
We left, went to the show and then went for a real dinner at one of my favorite places…Becco's!
