  1. Several months ago, the hubbie and I traveled to our new accountant's office in SI. Since we were there, we figured we'd do tour de Staten Island. SI jokes aside, there are a few hidden gems. Craft House is one of them.

The first time we went, I had already eaten at a nearby Sri Lankan place. Hubs couldn't eat since everything had dairy so he hopped on Yelp and found this place. He went for the BBQ. But since it was a bit early, they didn't have it (go after 5 PM for BBQ), he opted for brunch. I decided that I didn't need a full meal and ordered dessert – red velvet waffles ice cream sandwich.

Let me just say it wasn't dessert. It was a full damn meal. Out came two huge red velvet waffles (the kind you get for breakfast), with huge scoops of ice cream on them and topped with two more huge waffles. It literally was a friggin sandwich. So if you order that, either go seriously hungry and don't order anything else or plan on sharing.

Two months later, we took a ride on the SI ferry with the FIL. Suddenly hubs decided to get hungry but I presume he just wanted to come here again. This time around, they had BBQ so he ordered. I couldn't help but eye the chicken and waffles and ordered that.

OMG. AMAZING. Seriously. I just had chicken and waffles at a popular spot in Brooklyn and it didn't even come close to this place. I was in chicken heaven. Flavorful, moist and tasty. The BBQ? My husband devoured it. I tried a bit and have to say it was really good. Oh yeah, I lived in KC in the recent past so I kind of know BBQ.

I don't really need to talk about the beers except to say they have a good selection. But everyone else pretty much covers that.

Staff is all around nice though a touch lacking. Atmosphere is really nice – think upscales brew pub. Trust me when I say you won't find anything comparable in this 'hood. Plus, it's a quick 10 minute walk from the ferry and so completely worth it.

  2. Came in last night to a nice full bar of people an a beautiful lady who seated me an my husband right away. Already a great start 😉
We where greeted next by our server Jennifer who was very nice an very helpful with selecting beers since I'm not a huge beer drinking I really didn't no what would be best. So she brought us out a few samples an right away I fell in love there beer is amazing I ordered a ciderboy grand mimosa which I loved.

We then wanted to see what the huge hype was about there famous corn dip which looked very good but I'm not sure what happen with my order that it never came out in not sure if I'm server was overwhelmed with all the tables she had an people just started pouring in all at once so they where kind of busy.

My main dishes come an I'm still like where my corn dip 🙁 I needed up just canceling it. No biggie next time from the looks of it we already over ordered.
Husband chicken an waffles come an mm mm mmm it looked an tasted so good. He added a few drops of there hot sauce to the chicken an boy oh boy it it was yummy.
I ordered chicken breast sandwich with mozzarella an Tomatos also come with bacon but I held that off I'm not a huge pork eater. The sandwich was on potato bun it was very delicious I really enjoyed it with the sweet potato frys. I would next time just ask if they can toast my bun it was a bit boring.  Sweet potato frys where kind of cold wasn't like it just came out the Oil hot. Cold like it's been sitting an I wasn't super happy about that on top of my corn dip.
So as where digging in where still waiting for utensils an napkins. That was a bit annoying as well. Our server kept apologizing an I accepted it bc she was nice about it. I didn't want it to ruin out beautiful night.

Let me tell you guys about the Mac an cheese WOW ITS A MUST HAVE. Definitely order it.

So overall it was great food was great service was okay parking was good I grabbed a spot right in front, first come first serve no reservations. Great spot I love their interior decorations cute style.

I love very close to here so we will definitely be coming back with more people to enjoy it with.

    Thanks 🙂

  3. Craft House is a great destination for beer, food, sports and general good atmosphere.  It's located on the fringe of the downtown – more of a residential section actually.

There are about 10 draught beers served and a healthy bottle list as well.

The food menu has a good selection and the quality looks very good.

There are high def TVs sprinkled around the rooms for sports viewing.

The best thing I found here was a friendly and fun atmosphere.

  4. Love it here! When you enter it's definitely a rustic laid back feel. The beers were amazing! Tried the Chocolate Stout and spiked seltzer lime. They were awesome. I tried my friends Coney Root Beer and that was the absolute bomb! Entree, had the 1/2 ribs with Mac and Cheese and omg! My tastebuds were in love. Love it here. Def be back when it gets warmer out, they have tables outside which seem so laid back. Service was great as well.

  5. After a great happy hour at Flagship Brewery, my friends and I headed to Craft House for some eats. We were greeted by a packed bar area, and led to a somewhat quiet corner table. The menu promised a nice mix of bbq dishes and we were all excited to see what Craft House had to offer. The food was excellent. Ribs were fall off the bone and perfect seasoned. The Mac and cheese was also tasty and filling. The reason for only 3 stars is the excruciatingly slow service. Although our server was very friendly, the food took over an hour to arrive. It was good, but not worth an hr wait. I would come back, but hopefully my next visit will have the food coming much quicker.

  6. 5 stars for the service, 4 stars for the craft beer selection, three for the food. I liked this placed all right, and while parking isn't the easiest to come by – you'll figure it out.

My husband and I arrived after 8pm on a Friday night and I was surprised that it was crowded, but not overly so. We sat at the bar by the windows for awhile before being seated at a table – but that worked out to be just fine. I had a couple of the ciders – both were good and very nicely priced. The beer selection was excellent, and my husband enjoyed his choices. We started off with the corn dip, which was unfortunately bland and not something I'd recommend getting. However, the chicken and waffles were really good.

I've never had authentic chicken and waffles, but for my first time trying this out – I will say, the waffles clearly stood apart as the star of this duo. They were crispy, yet soft, and sweet. I would have ordered a plate of these all by itself if I could! The chicken was tasty (there was mention of sriracha on the menu, but this was a bit overly sweet in my opinon). I wonder if I could just order the waffles if I go back!

The mac and cheese was tasty – rich, and a bit on the salty side. The collards were good – very bbq-place like. My husband didn't love his burger, but his fries were really good.

Go for the brews, and the great service. I hope they change up their music selection, but otherwise, this place is just fine – but I imagine it will get better in the warmer weather.

  7. Glad I stopped by to craft house! Randomly decided to take a trip over the Staten Island ferry and this was one of the stops when I got there. The kitchen is closed from 4-5 (just FYI) or at least it was the day we went.

Food: I got the fried chicken sandwich. And although the fried chicken didn't taste the best, the sauces they provide gave it an extra boost to make me enjoy the meal. The fries were good and the Coleslaw was even tasty (that rarely happens!). And omg the best part was the red velvet waffle ice cream sandwich!! I was so full but ate the whole thing. YUM!!!

Drink: they have a pretty extensive beer list! I stuck with something typical and girlie (allagash white). It was good. But there's definitely a huge selection.

Service: or waitress was really good!

Atmosphere: we sat outside until it got too cold. They have a picnic table feel outside. It felt like you were in someone's backyard. Pretty cool in general. Inside looks like a typical bar. If I'm ever back in Staten Island I'll definitely try to stop by again!

Did I mention the red velvet ice cream sandwich was amazing?!

  8. The corn dip was my favorite! I had the chicken and waffles and we ordered a side of bacon mac & cheese. The waitstaff was very friendly & we got seated in the back room, which I liked better. Less noise and you're not right by the door. We found parking easily down the block. It's a bit hidden, so careful not to pass it.
