  1. This city has a lot of diners.  This city lacks good diners.  It does.  At least in Manhattan.  This diner is perfect.  It is exactly what you want from a diner.
I had a spinach, onion, feta omelette with a croissant.  My friends got eggs, bagels, and a burger.  All were very satisfied.

  2. This diner is quite large… I went here with a group of 8 and we were seated immediately. They have an extensive menu with good prices.

I decided to get the lamb gyro, which came with tzatziki sauce, Greek salad, french fries and pita bread. However, when I ordered the lamb, I was told that they only have a lamb + beef option, which is fine by me but then DON'T put "Lamb gyro" on the menu… It's misleading. The meal itself was pretty good, though I expected the meat to be cut up into pieces, not large slabs. It had a nice taste, but wasn't all that memorable to me. I really enjoyed the salad and french fries though. The salad had tomato, radish and plenty of delicious feta cheese. There was also some sort of seasoning on top. The fries were full of flavor, crispy, warm and delightful. One of my friends tried one and enjoyed it so much, that she ordered a side of fries for herself!

I also ordered the chocolate egg cream drink, which was not great. I remember trying egg cream somewhere else awhile ago and it was amazing, but not at this location.

The service was mediocre, but that may have also been due to the fact that we were there during the busy lunch hour on a weekend. That being said, I had to request the egg cream a couple of times and my friend's side didn't come until we asked again. Also, when I asked for a side of Ranch dressing, I had to wait awhile for it to arrive.

At least we were able to get separate checks. I would still come back to try some of the desserts that looked incredible and were only $3-5.

  3. Stick with corned beef hash.

It comes with fruit and a really weird looking square "muffin" reminiscent of cafeteria food.  You know what it's supposed to be.  You're not quite sure what it is.

Frankly I had half a bite of the sides and wish I didn't.  (Pretty sure I could have gotten better food from DR.). Pricey for what it actually is.  Service is average NYC diner.

I do see why TripAdvisor might give it a high rating.  If you're a tourist in the neighborhood maybe you're happy paying highish prices for good old diner food.  I know I only went here for lack of options when most restos were closed after the blizzard.

Corned beef hash is impossible to mess up though.  So overall three stars for that.

  4. This was just what I needed after a long night partying. Good service and it was quick! You have to ask for cheese in your omelette, which is strange. The corned beef hash did not look like it was made fresh and the potatoes looked like they could use a little more char on the outside. Otherwise, great place to chill with friends.

  5. A 3.5 star diner with personality to jump it to 4.0 stars.  Sit at the counter for extra action.  Hilarious older man at the counter, George, gives you crap with a smile – and for that, nearly 5.0 stars.  Went for breakfast twice with co-workers, and we were delighted with his NY spirit.

More than reasonable prices, and daily specials are featured throughout the day.  Like I said, went for breakfast and it was alright both times, the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs (3.0 stars), and the Onion & Cheese Omelet with a rasher of bacon (4.0 stars).

In summary, decent food, 24 hours, hail to the King.

  6. My First experience of a New York diner! It was just as I expected; Busy, loud, and a bunch of old ladies yelling out orders.

My friend and I needed a quick bite and this place was fairly close to our hotel so we gave it a shot. I got the pastrami sammy and she got the roast turkey. Let's just say she was super jealous she didn't also get the pastrami. Service was really quick and we got in and out under 30 min. My only regret is missing out on the face-sized cookies they had at the front. How did I not buy one?!

Mega points up for having the Halloween decorations up still. What Can I say, I love Halloween.

  7. Perfect hangover food!!! After my bacon & egg sandwhich (add cheese & a side of potatoes & half of my friend's pancake & a coffee) I was ready to take on the world!! Thanks, Malibu!

  8. Came for dinner on a Saturday night. Fast service! My eggs came with a side of potatoes that were a tad under-done (but I wasn't going to eat them anyways) but were otherwise good. Noisy but lively atmosphere.
