Petey’s Burger

  1. Nice burger place by LIC waterfront area. staff was friendly, I had a hamburger, simple and cheap! they can use a better bun!

  2. I admit I never thought much of Petey's Burger from the outside. And it's a block away from Corner Bistro, so I figured this was just a generic burger place.

But the food was pretty good! The Cajun fries were very solid — similar to the Five Guys Cajun fries, but less of the spice. The potato sticks are both crisp and soft. I got the melt cheeseburger on toasted bun which looked like the toasted side was on the outside so it gave a good texture. The burger patty is a little bigger than the bun size, and with the melted cheese it got a little messy. But it tasted very good.

For a melt, small Cajun fries, and a can of soda, it came out to about 11 dollars. Felt that was just a tad on the pricey side for what you get.

  3. This is a decent place to get your burger fix. The patties are thin, similar to In-N-Out, but the similarities end there. Given the prices, I'd rather go to Shake Shack or Five Guys, but because of the burger joints along Vernon, Petey's and Bareburger are your best probably your best, and only, bets in Hunters Point.

One of the upsides is Petey's delivers to the surrounding area and orders usually arrive fairly quickly.

Overall, it's a convenient and standard burger place if you're in the area. Not much to praise, not much to criticize.

  4. I fancied a McDonald's & this was the closest I could get to it in LIC!

I was really impressed with the burgers, my husband and I got a double cheeseburger each, a portion of sweet potato fries & a portion of regular fries. I enjoyed the burger and the sweet potato fries, but the regular fries were not good, they were kind of soft and soggy with no crisp to them. The sweet potato fries tasted seasoned and had a crunch, which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately you can't get sweet potato fries as part of a meal and they are $4.95 a portion.

I felt it was quite expensive. $22 for 2 burgers, 2 fries & 1 can of coke, when it is fast food.

  5. So.

I'm not normally a fan of veggie burgers (Shake Shack's portobello burger was kind of disappointing), but after a long day of walking around LIC, we wanted food. I yelped food and we picked a Thai place.

And yet. We passed by Petey's Burger, and it didn't look too horrible. Actually from the outside, it looked like it was the storefront from a cult movie, but it had decent Yelp reviews, so in we went.

I had the Greek Veggie burger which was compos(t)ed of spinach, mushrooms, scallions, feta cheese, etc. It was really yummy. I had the ranch dressing on the side. The Cajun fries were also really ridiculously good as well. Awe-inspiring, even. Petey's is good in my book.

  6. CAJUN FRIES! This is like a rip-off of In-N-Out – but I'm not complaining cos we have no INO in NYC, and this is one of the few good burger places in LIC (too many acronyms for you?)

Delicious burger – classic greasy, juicy, delicious fare – and LOVED the seasoned cajun fries. The place looks pretty dive-y but come here when you crave INO and you get lost in Queens.

  7. Got hungry after our Elite event last night that we decided to look for a place that we could refill our stomach after the pizza and drinks we had in the nearby comedy club. Never thought of how  many choices are there in line for us along Vernon Blvd. The first fast food we passed by after turning left from the club was this place…. perfect as  my stomach was yelling for burger.

We had their cheese burger and the California fries.  The burger was SUPER oily , no , GREASY , but how they grilled ( or fried???) the patty was just how I like it, way better than Burger King. Price is higher comparably but worth the taste. The California  fries serving is good for two people ( please take note of that ). It  has onions and cheeses mixed with the potato that made it less crispy. Did not like much, it was too heavy for me too. The place wasn't bad but not great. It was alright.

  8. I came here on a random Saturday afternoon at about 2pm and the place was empty, which was perfect. I took my time to look over the menu and settled on the Cheese Burger, which was $5.25, and shared an order of California Fries with a friend. By looking at the prices and makeup of the burger in Yelp pictures, the burger looked eerily similar to what In-N-Out burgers looked like, but unfortunately taste like an In-N-Out burger.

The Cheese Burger was a decent size and big enough for my liking. The cheese was melted perfectly all over the burger too. However, flavor-wise the burger was just OK. Nothing about the burger blew me away. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It was just an average burger to me. As for the California Fries, ordering that was probably a mistake because by looking at the photos, the Fresh Cut Fries looked so much better. I prefer my fries to look like freshly cut potato fries, but the California Fries were overly drenched in cheese and onions to point it softened up the fries too much. The fries were way too moist and basically had no life to them. I prefer fries like Wendy's, but these fries were like RanchOne's where it's usually all softened up by the heat and oil.

I also noticed Petey's was listed on Thrillist's NYC Best Burger list, but in my opinion, Petey's serves an average burger and sub-par California Fries for an above average price. I haven't given up on them yet since I haven't tried the Fresh Cut Fries, but it wasn't a good start.
