I came here with high expectations and was not impressed by the food or drinks whatsoever! I rather have saved my time and gone to Billies black amazing by the way! The drinks were awful and the food was tough like it was reheated multiple times. I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't go back myself. the place is simply just for show. it looks like a nice environment but definitely not worth it.
Consistent Harlem staple- an easy go to brunch spot. I had most of the menu – on this day I enjoyed cheese grits and fish cakes. My gf had red velvet waffles and bacon, she liked her meal as well
Tiese was a pleasurable server and kept our mimosas coming (b/c mimosas are why everyone does brunch, of course:-) ). Lively brunch crowd just like I like it.
If we had any concerns, my gf and I both agree that we would've preferred our food warmer upon arrival. yea, I think I'll request that next time I go.
Wow! I was impressed by this brunch location.
Food was great – we got the
– famous red velvet pancakes and chicken: amazing!!!
– Eggs benedict: satisfactory!!! It came with the best house potatoes that I've had in the past year. The complimentary salad was ignored because I don't do fitfam at brunch
– bellini: this was bomb!
Next time I'm here I'm ordering the red velvet pancakes against and the bottomless mimosa ($14). Brunch runs until 4pm.
Service is OK here – the waitresses are good looking 😉
Also, I learned that this is a black-owned business and I'm here for all of that!!! Will stop by next time in Harlem.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday. The food was very good! I was surprised that there was not a long wait given that it was Sunday brunch time. They are baby friendly which makes me happy :).
However, when I say the service is terrible. It is terrible, the waitress was nice but she just seemed zoned out and not attentive. Of course there was a mistake on our order (mine was actually fine but my friends eggs were brought out with cheese on them). I think what really pissed me off is that when we told the server who brought out the food about the mistake, he insisted that cheese was requested on both eggs. Like he literally pointed to the receipt and said "you guys asked for cheese". I started to think the food was free because it was only after I asked four different people for our check ( our waitress, the server, the hostess, and finally the manager), that we got our check. I like to give places second chances and since the food is so good I probably will, but they need to get the service together!
Oh lawdy lawd lawd lawd…. I traveled all the way from Brooklyn to Harlem anticipating to have the best red velvet pancakes with Fried Chicken.
The red velvet pancakes were an epic FAIL.. FAIL… FAIL… it tasted like rubber… hard to chew…. EPIC FAIL…. there was nothing amazing about it at all…
So then I requested the regular buttermilk pancakes because I just could not do it with the red velvet…. drum roll please…. EPIC FAIL!…. there was nothing buttermilk about it…. What is going on Chocolat-to be black owned and can't get pancakes right is a sin… IHOP has an edge over you when it comes down to pancakes….
Harlem if you want buttermilk pancakes pls take a trip to Brooklyn @ Cafe LucLuc.. trust and believe you will never feel the same about pancakes… FACTS!
Service… OMG our waitress was HORRIBLE… totally aloof.
The positive…. nice resto… great music… the fried chicken was tasty…
However that is not enough for me to return… DONE!
It's been about two years since I've been to Chocolat and I liked it the last time I went so I thought nothing of returning with my family for brunch.
I guess I should have given it more thought…….
The restaurant opens on Saturday at 10:00 and we had reservations for that time. When my sister arrived she was told that we would have to wait about 25 minutes because the food wasn't cooked. Huh???? We were thoroughly confused about that because how could the food not be cooked prior to opening. That should have been our first clue……
So the six of us are seated and our order was taken. When the food arrived EVERYTHING was cold with the exception of the chicken (for those of us who ordered pancakes and chicken). The pancakes, the grits and everything else was so cold that most of us sent our food back to be reheated. My sister's order was the last to come out – way after the rest of us even though the people at the table next to us had the same order and they were seated after us.
I do have to give a shoutout to our waitress (I didn't get her name) and the water guy Anthony who kept both of our water and mimosas glasses filled while getting us to laugh.
I have to say I'm very disappointed in the service at Chocolat and unfortunately, I don't think I will be visiting this establishment again.
I was impressed when I came here with my cousin and her friend. The red velvet pancakes were amazing. The service was top notch as well 🙂
This place has a nice ambiance. It had a modern yet Harlem feel. The bar is lit up for a nice night time feel. The tables are set up for a very cute restaurant with a dj both in the back. There is an area for a private dinner or brunch area for large reservations. The staff is very friendly and the food is cooked rather quickly. They offer a brunch menu with unlimited mimosas for an additional 12$. They offer veggie options along with meat. The red velvet pancakes and fried chicken is my favorite. There meals are consistent with areas around 125th area. The earlier you come the less crowded it is. They are usually busier on Sunday's than Saturday's.
