  1. For Breezy this is 5 stars, but for the rest of the world this is probably a 3.5 or 4.  I suppose I'll go with 4 stars and that's only because of the view.  Kennedy's is deemed as the fancy place in Breezy Point.  It really is the only place you can get a meal served on a plate not made of paper in the little co-op.  Now, I will give credit where credit is due – the views are quite spectacular.  You can see the NYC skyline as well as Coney Island and their fireworks on Friday nights.  Where else can you see that whilst dining?  However, the food falls a little short according to my foodie palate.  Also, the service is a little spotty and slow.  I mean, its not like we were in a rush, however, waiting over 30 minutes for your entree after your appetizer is a little much.  I ordered a mussels appetizer, which were mehhhh.  We also ordered baked clams, crab cakes and the beet salad – all of which were much tastier than my measly mussels.  For an entree I ordered the fillet mignon special, which was good, but the bleu cheese on top was a little bit of an over kill in terms of taking away from the flavor of the meat.. and not to mention I had to cut around some fat (fillet mignon no-no!).  If you're not a Breezy resident I'm sure you can find a similar restaurant with nice views and would be more than satisfied with your decision.  What I'm saying is that I've noticed the bad reviews and they all seem to be from people who have made it a specific point to come here.  Maybe try The River Cafe by the Brooklyn Bridge?  It's on my list.. looks romantic 🙂

Also, prior to dining we sat at the bar and I found the bartender to be a little short (attitude, not height) and unfriendly.  I came here on a separate night for just drinks and they had a live band playing and things were a little better.

  2. My mom and I stopped by Kennedy's for a couple of cocktails after being in Breezy for the day. This my my first time back since they rebuilt it after hurricane sandy. It's beautiful in there, such a great atmosphere, and the totally glass windows all around gives a great view of the beach/bay. The upstairs room is beautiful, I definitely want to plan a party up there one day soon.
We only say at the bar and had some drinks. The bartender was nice, and all the servers who walked around would offer a smile. I can't wait to go back to eat!

  3. Came here to celebrate my nieces kindergarten graduation. You need to pass a checkpoint and get a secret coin just to get to this place which is in a gated community of mostly cops and firemen called Breezy Point.  I ordered the crab cake entree and while the crab cake was very nicely done with far more crab meat than filler it was also quite small and for 14 dollars they couldve put 2 on the plate. The waitress asked if I wanted the entree or app version and I asked for entree, I guess it constitutes entree because it came with bland mashed potatoes and string beans that were crying out for a little toasted garlic. (Doesnt it suck when you pay for a dish in a  place thats supposed to be top quality and realize you couldve made the dish better yourself?)  My 6 yr old niece got a dish of chocolate ice cream and didnt seem to like it, it made the rounds around the table and we all decided there was something off about it, not quite sour but somewhat chalky tasting. Odd. The very nice waitress however took it off the check with no problems.   The place has a truly astounding view of the ocean.

  4. The restaurant is located in "romantic date night" spot in Far Rock's Breezy Point, but I came here to celebrate not only our Independence, but my mom's B-day. The large windows show you amazing view of NYC's coastline, from Coney Island, to Manhattan and parts of Jersey. But this is where it all ends. The service, friendly and nice. Onto the food, the bread with butter was as hard as rocks, and had to request it to be warmed up so it could taste softer and fresh, rather than hard and stale. The tilapia dish that I ordered was bland and lacked taste. I had to shower it with balsamic vinegar in order to appeal my taste-buds needs. It was quite disappointing since am paying $19 bucks for a miserable piece of bland fish on a platter. Gorton's Fisherman makes a better fish than this.  Then after eating all of that balsamic fish, I had to drink water. I prayed that the waiter came over and brought us some more, but it was too late, I had to drink water from my folks glasses. Then after seen empty glasses at our table, the waiter suddenly  wants to fill 'em up.  Sorry, this place failed in my book. The only thing nice thing about driving out to this place was taking a Fourth of July stroll along the beach. Not going back. Bland food, whack service. Unrecommendable.

  5. So I was particularly excited about going to check this place out since the last time I went to Breezy Point was to check out the full scope of the damage from hurricane Sandy. I must admit that when I looked the place up on Yelp I was not excited but a friend picked the place so I went along…

When I arrived I found the restaurant to be fresh, nicely decorated and there was a crowd. I sincerely think that the pictures of the interior on Yelp do not do the place justice. We were given a table with a view of the bay which was wonderful. We were given one menu because apparently they were low…. It went downhill from there.

I ordered a coke which was flat…. I knew that I wasn't going to be happy. We ordered the beet salad which had way too much dressing and the beets lacked crunch. We got clams… They were tasteless and oily. The Thai chicken dumpling were not good as well.

I went with a burger because no one messes up a burger right? Wrong! The burger was flavorless  and the bun was not fresh. One of  my friends had the tuna sandwich which looked dry… My other friend had the Cubano which was also mediocre.

So I gave two stars because the location and setting are great if not for that I would have given one star. The service was slow but the waitress was attentive and cheerful. The food was bad especially for the prices they want. Needless to say I will not be returning again. I would need to hear that there is a different chef to return. I am told that this is the only place to go and eat in the area hence I think the mediocre food may not go away as patrons have no other options hence business has no pressure to change.

Pack a lunch if you are in the area and enjoy your lunch on the beach.

  6. Five of us had dinner here tonight.  For the local area, it's a great gem!  This restaurant is attractive physically and has great views of a beach, Jamaica Bay, and a distant Manhattan.  There are now a couple of decent wines by the glass and also several draft beers that have never been near a Clydesdale.  The food is not terribly original (braised short ribs with horseradish-infused mashed potatoes, just like at the Lark Creek Inn or the Buckeye Roadhouse), but our dishes were prepared competently — everyone seemed happy.  The service was not up to big city standards, but, hey, we're at the beach!
