  1. Love this place and I want to come back!  Haven't been here in over a decade and decided to try their Sunday Brunch out this past Sunday.   I was not disappointed and neither was my family.  I called first to make reservations since I saw on their website that there is a 2 hour limit on seating.  Boy oh boy was this a good idea!  I made a reservation for Brunch at 1pm. When we first walked in the restaurant was very lively and packed.   I thought the hostess was going to guide us to a table in a crowded area.  Boy was I wrong!  We got the best seat in the house yay!   All the way in the back corner in a large booth with cushioned seats.   Woot! Woot!  I was so ecstatic about this .   Some people might not like to sit in the back because they wouldn't be able to catch their waiter's attention.   Also fear they would be forgotten about.  In this case we had a very attentive waiter, who never let our complimentary drinks go empty!

Holy smokes where do they get these waiters from…models.com?   Our waiter was gorgeous – he was half my age but oh my was he something to look at.   If your a single girl in your twenties you might want to come here just for the eye candy alone!   Ok now that that's over and done with let me move on to the food our table ordered from the brunch menu.  Oh and kids get to eat off their kids menu for $10.95 in lieu of the adult $20.00 which is a great deal if mom and dad want complimentary Sangrias, bloody Mary's, Mimosas or Screwdrivers.

The bread basket we received was very nice with mini piping hot bread buns and mini muffins.  They give you butter and jam in a small dish too.  I had a piece of the bun with some very spreadable good room temperature butter.  I didn't care for the muffins because they smelled like cinnamon so my daughter and husband enjoyed those. My daughter ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon and an orange juice.  My husband ordered the bacon Swiss omelette.  Both of our omelettes came with roasted potatoes which are delectable and sourdough bread.

Ok so my daughter loved her pancakes!   I tasted them and they were indeed delicious.  Loved that they put powdered sugar on top of them.  She agreed that they were much better than IHOP's pancakes.  They were not overly fake and fluffy.  On the flatter side and full of real goodness and flavor.   My omelette was delicious.  Loved the big chunks of feta inside it.  Exactly what I was looking for on that Sunday.  My omelette had a good amount of spinach and tomatoes and the feta cheese gave it a nice punch of flavor.  The bread it came with was pretty good it reminded me of the Maltese bread from my home country in Malta.  My husband said his omelette was good but he didn't expect bacon bits in it.  He had wanted real bacon pieces.  At least he got to steal a piece from my daughter's side of bacon, which was presented very well in a small wooden platter.  Also on the menu description it states aged Gruyere Swiss but the cheese tasted like regular Swiss to him.  Probably better since our daughter hates the smell of Gruyere and might have ran away from the table.

Ok so about those drinks!  They are complimentary so do not expect anything fancy.  Call me spoiled if you must, but I wish my mimosa was served in a fancy champagne glass and looked more orange juice color.  It was served in a regular water glass and looked more like a screwdriver lemonade color.  Well it got the job done at least because after two I was feeling pretty nice!   Hubby's Bloody Mary tasted pretty decent.  I needed ketchup for my roasted potatoes and the waiter quickly got it for me when I asked him. A large group of people were celebrating a birthday and everyone was joining in singing.

I had a great time here and would like to try their brunch or dinner menu again.   This is a great restaurant that I plan on visiting again.

  2. The food at Tavern 18 was fantastic. I would truly like to give them a 3 1/2 star, but will round up since I did enjoy myself. Myself, three others and my toddler stopped by at about 8PM on a Sunday evening with no wait at all. I loved the look and feel of the place, very warm and cozy. Atmosphere was very welcoming. Three of us shared a Sauvignon Blanc, and it was tasty! Around $33? We ordered a bunch of appetizers and they came out super fast. my favorite being the lobster & shrimp spring rolls- served with a Thai dipping sauce. French onion soup was pretty spot on & the jumbo crab cakes were not as crabby and seasoned as I would have liked. The oysters were $2.75 a pop, so we opted against. As for entrees, we all enjoyed the food thoroughly- just wish the waitress service had been a bit better- we saw a lot more of the runner & bus boy than we did of the waitress. Only downside of the entrees would be the saltiness of the au jus served with my mothers French Dip. It almost resembled a soy sauce. Overall, we had a great time. I hope to check out some happy hour specials in the future.

  3. It's the typical neighborhood joint around the corner.  The foods actually pretty solid.  I frequently come here on Sundays for the $0.25 wing deal.  There have been circumstances where I do get attitude from a specific waiter about how me and my team wouldn't be able to sit at the high tops with that specific team.  When I don't have that specific waiter it's never a problem.  From what I heard, he's not the most pleasant individual to deal with.  I've been coming here less because of that and instead taking advantage of that Football Sunday – $0.25 deal.  The wings are pretty solid – Chipotle/Buffalo.  Not too breaded.  The beer is chilled on tap which is fantastic because not many local joints have that type of quality.  In terms of dishes, the burgers are amazing.  I would highly recommend going for the Tavern burger.  Overall, I would recommend this joint but please stay away from that disgruntled waiter which has brought my experience down.  Hence why I have turned to more local joints than this one.

  4. I've been here a few times for happy hour (I believe different specials for food each weekday + $5 select drinks). The drinks are pretty standard, although my friend ordered sangria and they brought her white sangria, sangria should always be red unless otherwise specified. The 1/2 off appetizers were pretty good too. Not many other happy hour options in the area, so why only 3 stars? Every time I've gone, the waiter is nowhere to be found, it's impossible to order anything/get utensils/ get the check. The first time I went we sat at a large table that recently became free and during the whole 2 hours we were there no one bothered to remove the previous party's glasses and plates

  5. I'll keep it brief.  Brunch was cold, nothing was seasoned (even the home fries). Veggie omelet was more of an egg taco, and contained more mushroom stems than caps.  Eggs benedict had only a sprinkling of hollandaise, and the egg whites were runny.  Passionfruit mimosa came in a wine glass with ice – that being said, it was tasty.

The service was friendly and accurate and, apart from the basket of warm crusty bread, probably the best part of our experience.

We might go back for drinks at the bar, which looked nice, but we will not return for brunch.

  6. I haven't eaten in the restaurant itself but I've ordered take out here. The food is always good every time I order. I would get their lunch special. Their burgers are amazing and filling.  I also order their chicken sandwiches and those are really good. The place itself looks like you're in your own world away from the busy streets. The seating looks intimate and cozy. There's a large bar with an assortment of wine and beers from different places. It looks like a great place to host parties also. I'd definitely eat in the restaurant whenever the occasion arises.

  7. My bf and I cam here for Sunday brunch right before it got busy. They were friendly and seated us at a high top. It's such a great deal for unlimited drinks, which include sangria, bloody mary, screwdriver, and mimosa. Other fancier drinks are an extra cost. As for the food, I ordered off the lunch side, grilled chicken sandwich with arugula, fresh mozzarella, basil aioli, on bread. It was amazing and flavorful. My bf had the steak and frites and that was tasty too, but a little chewy. All this food and drinks for just $20. But service is a little slow because of how busy it is.

  8. I've been here several times. Where can you spend $20 and enjoy a good meal with bottomless brunch drinks? You can't beat it. I haven't tried their menu at any other time besides brunch. So I can't comment on the meals during dinner. Crab cakes Benedict, chicken muttz sandwich on focaccia bread with lettuce and tomato, applewood bacon, mac and cheese, pasta primavera with chicken, and the burger are all amazing to name a few of the very diverse items. This is a great place to go with family or friends. There is plenty of parking in the area. Only downside which is why I took 1 star off, there is one waiter that's particularly slow and lazy. I tend to avoid having to sit in his area. Since you get great service from the other two or three folks working the tables. Make a reservation. Gets pretty busy on Sunday.
