  1. Very disappointed. First I came in and saw many many tables open. The hostess looked a bit confused. She then told us to wait…which was odd since there were clearly tables. But maybe I didn't know the whole situation.

The huevos rotos I ordered was really awful. The "Spanish broken eggs" were horribly cooked. Crunchy in the wrong places. Then, the potatoes, peppers and chorizo were under the eggs in a weird mix. It was literally so greasy that I kept having to wipe some off it off before taking a bite. I barely had a third of the meal.

However, my friend got the shrimp and grits brunch dish and seemed to enjoy it!

Definitely won't go back because there are just too many better places somewhere else.

  2. We stopped by for a very late lunch/early dinner. Apparently you can make reservations on Opentable, but it didn't look busy when we arrived.

$12 Thai Me Down Cocktail – pineapple, Thai basil tequila, lime
I was intrigued by the name. The cocktail was very fruity. The best part was savoring the pineapple once the drink was gone.

$16 Cubano with roast pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mustard:
Touted as NYC's best Cubano, I'm not sure how it gained that name. The ingredients are not unique. It seemed like they used pressed Hawaiian rolls for the bread. It was definitely a voluminous sandwich. It looked like they used an entire loaf of Hawaiian rolls for this sandwich. I enjoyed it, but it was a little dry.

$18 Samba Chicken – 24 hr marinated, dry charcoal rub, with honey glaze and spicy mojo:
It seems like they paired the chicken with a Hawaiian roll too. They sure like Hawaiian rolls here! Kind of a confusing Cuban/Latin restaurant, in my opinion. The chicken was also dry, but chicken breast tends to be dry, so I wasn't surprised. The sauce helped it a lot.

I wouldn't come back here for a Cuban sandwich or for a meal. I don't think they are worth the price. I'm more interested in their other cocktails and their happy hour plates though.

  3. We had the cuban classic for 2, which consisted of some short ribs, rice & beans, maduros and tamales.  The dish was definitely not aesthetically pleasing, it looked like a mess of dry food was dispersed on a metal platter.

The free sangria with a yelp check-in was delicious, though, and our server was super friendly.

  4. Was seated quick with a reservation the day before Thanksgiving. This worked out perfectly for us because it was half way between our hotel and the Macy's inflation. The food came out super quick, and the service was excellent. Our server was very nice, and the free sangria check-in special was awesome! There were a few aspects of the food/drink that we didn't love, but that was due to personal preference. We only got appetizers and drinks, but everything was made to perfection and reasonably priced!

  5. I really enjoyed my experience at AG. I'm rarely in UWS, but this specific time I was meeting up with a friend who lived in the area.

The ambiance was intimate and calm. It gave kind of a classy vibe yet still felt very casual. Our waiter was absolutely awesome. He was very friendly, not too pushy to take our order, and very accommodating. I wanted to order the Surf & Turf, but it seemed like a lot of food and a hefty price tag. So I went with the meatless burger, which came with a side salad or fries.

The burger was delicious. I'm a big fan of veggie burgers, so I really enjoyed the mix of beans, corn, and other fresh ingredients. I got the side salad, which was fresh and a great balance. It was even on a multi-grain bun with other veggies, with made it not too filling. Just enough.   My friend ordered the pork tacos, which looked amazing. Unfortunately, my friend was disappointed about the size of his meal. He's a big guy, so he likes eating a lot. I felt bad that they were mini tacos and didn't satisfy, but they looked delicious.

The menu was a little limited, but still good. I ordered wine, which was a little on the pricey side for class coming from a cheap bottle (like $10). I used their Yelp coupon for a free sangria or draft beer too. USE IT! The sangria was soooo good, and most importantly, on the house.

  6. I've been back a couple of times and this place is really growing on me.  I especially love the baby arugula salad with dried cherries and pecans- I add the grilled salmon and it's delicious.  Also the service is pretty good.  This is a really decent neighborhood option.  They deliver relatively quickly too.

  7. The best feature of this restaurant was the service. Our server was so wonderful and accommodating; just a treat to find in this city. Make sure to try the calamari app which is glazed in some sort or teriyaki sauce and deep fried. The guac is also flavorful. The Aussie burger was good; nothing super unique. Overall a pleasant experience. Would recommend for a smaller group of a date.

  8. This place was perfect for a quick brunch !!

I had their grilled chicken sandwich without the bbq sauce they put on and it was insanely delicious. I'm a huge fan of grilled corn and theirs was a bit overpowering!! Way too much fake cheese felt like i was just eating that Kraft parmesan cheese just awful!

My BF ordered the ropa vieja and was very impressed with how tasty and flavorful it was!!

Service was great very attentive staff !!
