  1. We went there on a Thursday evening and it was fairly empty. Interesting hidden spot in the residential area. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered the:

    – Fried calamari (it was delicious! loved the dipping)
    – Fried chicken with mashed potato and sweet potato fries as sides (Fried chicken was good but not mind blowing. The mashed potato was a HUGE disappointment. It didn't taste fresh at all and the gravy tastes like there's no seasoning. That being said, the sweet potato fries were awesome)
    – Jambalaya (not bad but I probably won't order it again)

I would give it a 3.5 star but unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow that. I'm giving it a four-star because the overall experience was pretty good.

  2. This place is hands down the best Southern food spot I have come across! If you're into hot sauces you must check it out. There's a place behind the bar where the really crazy stuff is kept.

I went with a friend who is well versed in cajun and creole cuisine so I asked him to order. Some of the recs from the bar tender were the fried chicken, gumbo, and the chicken wings. There's also alligator on the menu which I tried for the first time ever – it was soft – not like chicken!

I will tell you this, the chicken was hands down the best I have had. I need more!

Since it was lunch on the Saturday it was a bit quiet. I was told that the weekends are excellent with the great crowd.

I look forward to going back soon.

  3. The ambiance is a typical dive bar / pub. I just want to keep that straight. I mean that should have been obvious when the name of the place has "Roadhouse" to it. However, my family had the impression that it would be a nicer location.

The Westchester Magazine BEST "Bloody Mary" was okay. I mean i can see why it was voted best in Westchester, but I do not think it is the best that I have tried. I did like the Old bay / cajun dust that they sprinkled on the rim of the glass. I also like how the olive was stuffed with a jalapeno, but the olive itself was very soft and the color was a greyish green, which was offputting. I wish the olive itself had more of a bite to it and looked more green.

They do not skimp on the food here. The cornbread is delish, and it comes with some maple butter or something. The jambalaya is HUGE; I'd be shocked if anyone can finish it in one sitting.

Overall, the food is good. I have no complaints here. I do like how they have tv's everywhere playing different sports. I do want to try the gator nuggest the next time that I am here.

  4. I came here with my wife and parents in the afternoon we ordered the buffalo wings fried pickles popcorn shrimp and my dad had the rib eye mom had the southern fried chicken my wife had the shrimp po boy and the food was all amazing this is my new favorite place to go to.
