  1. Starting with the chicken wings… Very crisp. Very salty. A little bit dry. All in all, kinda disappointing. Mad for chicken will definitely not be my go to spot for Korean fried chicken wings. I will, however, say that the boodae jungol was the best of the ones I've had recently at spots like the coop and her name is Han. For the alcohol, because you always need alcohol with chicken wings, we had a jar of the pomegranate soju. Very sweet and had almost a medicinal taste that I actually tend to like but it was way too sweet to drink a whole "jar" of.

I love the open space and the fact that it is a little removed from the craziness that is Main Street Flushing so parking was much less of a hassle. Obviously if you're arriving by public transport, then this is less convenient. They have daily specials but none on the classic bone-in wings although if boneless wings are your thing, then Wednesday is the day to go.

  2. Yet another Korean Fried Chicken spot in Flushing. Although the Chicken is no different than many of the other places, what sets this place apart is their selection of beer. Definitely give Allagash a try! The service here was great, very attentive and quick. Unlimited popcorn to keep you busy while you wait for your food. Metered parking is pretty easy outside on Northern BLVD.

  3. WOW! We've driven by this place about a thousand times, and finally stopped by late on a Saturday when it was basically the only thing open other than fast food.

INSTANT FAVORITE! A quick rundown of what we've tried thus far:

Wings/Drumsticks* – nothing short of amazing, crunchy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside. IDK what the voodoo magic is that they do in the kitchen to make them so crispy, but whatever, I'll give them my first born if they keep those amazing wings coming. The spicy version is too hot for me, but my husband loves them. FAIR WARNING: The wings do seem to take a while to come out, so prepare yourself for that. If you're starving, get something else to snack on first.

Scallion Chicken – the chicken strips you've always wanted. Again, crunchy on the outside, a little tough to cut, but they pull apart easily if you pick them up with your hands. Dipping sauce is tasty, and the side of pickled radish that comes with most everything is an interesting and fresh choice.

Parm Fries – Good fries, huge portion. Looking forward to trying their version of poutine.

Twister – They look more interesting than they taste, but if you want to shove some fried taters in your face, these are a fun alternative to french fries.

Soju Martini – I tried the lychee flavor, and boy was it good, like drinking a juicebox with (apparently) booze in it.

They have specials daily which seem to be really good deals on a number of their regular menu items. Service is friendly, prompt and accurate. Yay!  The decor is nice, upscale eco-friendy, lots of (what looks like) reclaimed wood, exposed bulbs, and a few TVs here and there. They have a bar in the back, but their (boring, sorry!) beer selection needs some curating.

The only actual negative thing I have to report about this place is the music and its volume. SO loud for seemingly no reason, and consisting of entirely emo-rock.

    Even so, we'll be back!

  4. My husband and I came here for take out one night after our Pokemon hunting since this place was opened till 2am! At that time we had the chipotle chicken quesadilla and it was delicious! On a different occasion, we also ordered their breast strips, half/half soy garlic and spicy garlic. All equally delicious! The taste is very similar to the well known, BonChon, but obviously still really good. This place would really make you go, "Mad for Chicken", especially if you're craving it. The bonus side of things is that it is opened until 2am. So you can definitely get your late night fix here. We haven't dine in yet so I can't speak to that experience. This review is based solely on take out.

  5. Love mad for chicken. Chicken is always crispy and juicy. Spicy ones are super spicy so I would stick to soy garlic if you can't eat spicy foods like me. Nachos here are also great. Also had the budaejjigae which is good. Nothing special about it. Lots of beer selection here. Pretty sure I've tried many other dishes here on different occasions but I can't remember them. Just order the chicken and you won't be disappointed.

  6. It was slightly more upscale than I expected.  The place is clean & cozy.  The service is impeccable !!!  They could not have been more welcoming.
I ordered their "La poutine".  This is definitely not your Canadian version.  The fries are served with a brown gravy, sautéed onions & topped off with corn.  It was obviously very fresh.  It wasn't really my thing.  I should have gotten the chicken because that's obviously what their known for.  My mistake .
I would definitely go back & try other items including their chicken!

  7. I've been to Mad for Chicken for more than four times already, checked-In on Yelp each time, got the regular stat, and yet I haven't written a review!

    I must be mad.

The fried chicken here is really freaking good! Every time I come here with friends, we always get the Soy Garlic flavored wings and drumsticks, and sometimes breasts. The skin is always crisp and flavorful without being too heavy or greasy. The meat itself is tender and not too moist nor dry, but just right. Although you might feel like ordering a ton of meat, I'm almost always full after just 3-4 wings, 3-4 breasts, and some fries.

We also always get the Parmesan Fries. It comes with A chipotle sauce mixture and ketchup for dipping. You can always ask for more sauce if you run out. The fries are always piping hot and crisp.

When I came here with friends on a Sunday night, we ordered Soy Garlic breasts, Soy Garlic wings, and Parmesan Fries. I liked how MFC doesn't dish out all our orders at once, but presented it to us one at a time, so it's less overwhelming. For example, We were given the fries first, and when we finished, then came the breasts, and when that was finished, then came the wings. Maybe the timing was just right, but talk about great logistics during that day!

My only pet peeve is that, especially on days when MFC is really REALLY busy, the waiters sometimes forget about you. On those kinds of days, flagging a waiter down is a lot of work since he/she is sometimes nowhere to be found, I had to ask for water more than 3x, my friend waited for his Lychee Yogurt Soju for more than 25 minutes, until a waiter came by with a different drink and told him that the yogurt machine wasn't working(wth lol).

Chicken, fries, & maybe a beer. That's all you need. (y)

P.S.: If you check in on Facebook, you get a free fro-yo! It's so delicious and tastes just like yogurt.

  8. I believe in second chances! Do you?

I have been to Mad for Chicken twice now. I enjoyed it so much the first time, I decided to come back and brought some friends. This time it was not as good as the first. They set the bar so high that I was somewhat disappointed my 2nd time here.

    The good….
*AMAZING WINGS! Super crunchy on the outside and super moist on the inside. If you like SPICY, these are SPICY! Some of my friends were crying because of how hot these wings are. It comes with a cup of pickled radish and a cup of creamy sweet corn.
*Beer Sangria….They only have it by the glass and not pitchers darn!
*Parmesan fries…another crunchy on the outside dish, soft potato on the inside, not a bit greasy. Served with a chipotle mayo and ketchup.
*Fried dumplings..Super crunchy shell, super spicy sauce and super tasty!
*If you check in on Facebook or Instagram (why not YELP huh???) you get a free frozen yogurt. You are going to need it to put out the fire in your mouth after eating these wings! There was 7 of us and they only gave us 2 yogurts.

    The bad….
*They don't take reservations for the weekend.
*We ordered Truffle fries along with a basket of Parmesan fries….they are basically the same thing except one has a couple of drops of truffle oil which just makes them taste too greasy. SKIP IT!
*Most of the beers they offer on their menu or that were written on the chalk board were not available.
*Parking is a little difficult….meter street parking.

    The ugly….
*Our server told us they were short staffed in the kitchen that night this is why our order came out in bits and pieces. Our apps came out after our meal! They forgot a few things so we had to remind them.
*They got my order totally wrong. I told our server that I was so disappointed and he offered me a free drink for getting my order wrong. Nice right?!? EEEHHHH….more like Nice try! I ordered another beer sangria which was more of the Coors light than Sangria.

So while the service was off par this time around, the food was still freakin fantastic! I am going to give them another chance because I am so MAD FOR CHICKEN!!
