  1. Genesis is consistent when it comes to serving customers great food. However, over time the inflation of meal prices will cost you a pretty penny. They've doubled up on the rice and peas because of the lack of meat you receive. Why can't we have equal parts? In all actuality how can one thoroughly enjoy a meal with only 3-4 pieces of meat? Each bite should be the perfect ratio of stewed chicken, veggies, gravy with rice and peas.

  2. Best Jerk Chicken and an Average Fry

This may be the beginning of a long sultry relationship. The "Genesis" of an addiction to Jerk Chicken. I've only had Jerk a handful of times, but Genesis really knocks down the competition. The chicken was well seasoned with spices and has that kick of cinnamon. I just wish they poured me some more of that jerk sauce all over my rice.

I also had the fried chicken, which was made fresh to order. I waited a good 15 min to 20 mins for it. Was it worth the wait? The chicken was crisp and well seasoned. My only complaint is It was a bit over-fried and resulted in a dried out the bird devoid of the majority of its juices.

The rice and peas had an addictive quality and also had a noticeable fragrant hint of cinnamon. The peas added a pleasant nuttiness to the dish. The plate also came with two slices of fried plantain which was standard. The cabbage was a decent palate cleanser.

I also ordered a chicken patty, which had a thick comforting warm curry filling which I thoroughly enjoyed. All kinds of ooey gooey  potato-ey goodness going on in there. However, the chicken patty only had one or two little tiny pieces of chicken.

The large meal and chicken patty ran me about $18 and change. I felt like the prices were a tad-bit high for the caliber of food. I'd give em 3.5 stars.

  3. Genesis!!! I've been eating here since I was a kid! I also went to high school around the corner. My dad and I would come in the morning and get Hominy corn porridge and fritters or fried dumplings. Memories! Genesis has always been #1. After a while you feel like friends or family. And biggup DJ Roy! The food is always mighty fine. I cannot remember ever being disappointed here. Four stars only for the wait time. Truth be told, this resturaunt has to be doing something right to be around for so long and still running things! I'm still Team Genesis!!!

  4. My mother works around the area and always brags about her job catering from genesis for their events. I thought it was all hype until I bit into that oxtail. Heavenly goodness! Faith in humanity restored.

  5. Still winning! This place delivers and they are pretty fast…I think I was out of the delivery zone by a mile or so but it didnt stop them! Still a fan!

  6. I come here whenever I have a craving for caribbean food. I always order the Jerk Chicken with peas & rice, and cabbage or the Roti  The food is good and I would have given it 5 stars of the Jerk was a little spicer.

  7. I ordered Genesis delivery while getting my hair done at a nearby salon. My stylist told me they had a lunch special, I had no idea what was offered, so I ordered what I get from most Caribbean restaurants: Stew Chicken.

The delivery came in decent time. The Stew Chicken lunch special was $6.50 and it came with rice, cabbage, plantain, and I got a bottle of water. I believe the water came with the meal and I don't know if there were other beverage options. (I didn't make the call)

I enjoyed my food. There was a lot of rice and a little bit of chicken with a little bit of meat on them but it is what it is. It was $6.50, I was hungry, they delivered, and it got the job done.

  8. When referring biblically to Genesis, it means the beginning.  But this was the END for me. I really wanted to give Genesis a fair review but that was not what my experience was worthy of.

This place was raved about as the highly acclaimed best Jamaican restuarant in the area and it disappointed me greatly. I ordered a simple rice and peas dinner, cabbage and jerk chicken. What I received was a plate of BONES, a full plate of over cooked cabbage and a MOUNTAIN of rice. You've got to be kidding me. West indian restuarants are notorious for scamming you with large portions of rice and very little meat for your money, in an effort to get off easy, but this is a joke. If you want business you don't treat customers this way.

This was a disappointment and I will not return. I could have ate at home for what it's worth. This place also resembled a Chinese take out restaurant revamped. Read the other reviews and do not be misled.
