I friend suggested we go here last night and when I saw the outside of this place I must admit I was hesitant. We were debating on what to order for drinks and the waiter told us he loves the coco mojitos, we were both intrigued since we had never had a coco mojito. We decided to go with that and once I tasted the mojito I was in love! This has got to be the best mojito ever, just the right amount of sweet yet quite strong. We had a pitcher and I felt kinda of happy afterwards. My four stars are solely for the coco mojito. As for the food, um I was not really impressed. The menu is a mixture of Mexican and Caribbean. For example they had flautas and mofongo. I decided to be safe and ordered the chicken quesadillas, my friend had the chicken mofongo and shrimp cocktail to start. Our food took quite a while to come out. I wasn't really upset since we were busy enjoying the mojitos. When the food finally arrived the presentation was very different from what I was expecting. The mofongo came covered in a green sauce, and the shrimp cocktail sauce contained pieces of avocado. It also came surrounded by packets of saltine crackers which I really didn't get. I ate up the shrimp cocktail cause at this point I was quite hungry. The shrimp was overcooked but edible. My quesadillas were good it just came with a lot of chicken which most people would enjoy but too much for me. It was also surprisingly spicy which was good for me. I definitely want to go back just for the coco mojitos. Overall, I would recommend this place for drinks, especially the coco mojitos.
There are quite a few Mexican joints to choose from in this neighborhood and on this block. This one was just picked at random one day when we decided to avoid our usual spots and try something new.
The menu is beautiful: good selection of dishes and loaded with appetizing pictures. Prices are just a tad bit high for what I'd like to pay for this cuisine, but not by too much. It might be important to note that I usually like to go to grimier, greasier, homier spots for my Mexican food.
Drinks are pricey, but made very well. I believe Jorge (a "J" name on the receipt) was our server and bartender. Service was super friendly and the drinks were strong, yet tasty. We came in during happy hour, which is daily. That's a plus! What we weren't told, nor did I see it posted, is that happy hour items are cash only. What an inconvenience to pay half of our tab by card, then have to run out in the cold to grab cash. Minus one star.
Food was decent: tasteful, but nothing spectacular or memorable. Presentation is neat and simple. Portions are between average and light for what I'm accustomed to seeing for this cuisine.
Overall, the experience was good.
I die for their burritos. I dislike it when restaurants serve burritos that are larger than life with outrageous portions that no human could ever finish. This is not the case with Mojito's. The burrito portion is great, and I love that you also get rice and beans on the side! The steak and al pastor burritos are delicious.
We got spicy guacamole once, and while it was delicious, it was really spicy. Like, I love spicy food, but the spice was a bit much.
I come here at least once a week now and don't plan on stopping anytime soon!!
This spot is AWESOME. The staff is extremely friendly and totally treat you like the family. I went with two friends last night and the owner and bartenders were extremely talkative and got to know us. The drinks were good (besides this shot that burned my mouth – caramucha or something). I am going back today with co-workers and totally going to enjoy it. Will comment on the food later!
All in all: what a GEM in Spanish Harlem!
This was a small, quaint restaurant that could use some updating in the decor department. The mojitos were really good and the food average. We didnt get an opportunity to enjoy the outdoor seating because it was COLD. However, the drinks definitely warmed us up.
I believe this venue would do well if they implemented a salsa night. The place isn't large but it's big enough that they could get away with it. I think it could really work. They have potential. They need to make up for the food and the drinks. So far I'm not impressed. The two drinks I had were either too sweet or very strong, and some people may like that I guess, but I couldn't finish them. I'm not giving up on them just yet. I'm sure they have a few dishes and drinks I haven't tried that are incredible and I'm willing to suck it up and try them, but not when I'm starving.
