  1. I stopped by earlier for lunch with my colleagues.  Damn the menu itself is hella expensive…they should have a lunch special to cater to the people that work around the area. My colleagues both got a bowl of salad but one had chicken topped. I had Buffalo Chicken minis and really wasn't anything special but their Original BBQ was delicious as I was constantly dipping in it.

  2. Finger lickin bbq in the middle of Manhattan! Popped in here with my big brother en route to the "boss" concert.  I was already stoked to get a last minute front row seat then to offer up some fine southern brisket? Yes, please!

We ordered the brisket, pulled pork sliders, a bunch of sides( say yes to the Mac n cheese and the cornbread) PBR for $5 that is super ice old and some sort of mason jar liquor concoction and you have yourself a nice little pre concert warm up. Out the door in an hour and a quick walk across the street to the chase card member entrance.

Don't worry brother Jimmy, I'll be back! Come, eat and enjoy!

  3. Either I'm a moron and can't find the listing or there is no listing for the eighth avenue MSG outpost. So, I'm parking this review here. A buddy of mine, my son and I recently had some good eats at Brother Jimmy's before Black Sabbath at The Garden.

Made a reservation. Smart move. An even smarter move was remembering who I spoke with when confirming the reservation. Bridgett said our table would be waiting. Another good move was calling to advise we would be twenty minutes late. No prob said Bridgett.

Walked in and the two ladies up front advised that our table was probably given away. Ask Bridgett I said. A phone call upstairs confirmed our table was waiting. Awesome customer service.

The food? Great ribs, fries, beans, pulled pork and cold beer. Great tunes. A lively crowd. Service with a smile. What more could you ask for?

Always a favorite. We'll be back soon.

  4. This place is absolutely great when it comes to southern food! The hot wings are my favorite and I pair that off with a Stella from the bar! They are decently priced.

The waitresses are very friendly and have that 'southern hospitality'. Drinks are a little pricey but it's worth it when you're just having dinner and spending time with your friends. It's about quality not quantity and there is definitely a lot of quality in their food and in their hostessing.

  5. Not a fan of the food here at all. I stopped through on a recommendation by a family member and was not impressed. We ordered the sampler platter with 2 choices of meat. I had the regular ribs with fried okra and fries. My fries were cold and the ribs weren't good. The okra was the best thing on my plate. My cousin ordered the BBQ ribs, Mac n cheese, and greens. The BBQ ribs were pretty good but the Mac n cheese was reminiscent of Kraft in a box. The greens I avoided tasting because they looked like the were disappointing. There is a selection of BBQ sauces at each table. Unfortunately, all off the sauces offered are watered down. I was disappointed that the food wasn't very good but the fact that I was treated to the meal, made things so much better. I would not have been happy having to pay for it.

  6. BBQ – and an all you can eat Monday wings & rib tips deal w/beer – a great place to get your act on at the bar and watch a local college game or two. Right across from MSG, people come here to grab a bite before/after games.

While not the best BBQ, it certainly does remind me of the Midwest. Beer, BBQ, and friendly staff.

Seating area is upstairs, as are the restrooms. Service was a little slower and forgot my order about 1/2 the time that asked for something (another drink, app, water, etc.). A good place to hang out in the interim while waiting for a game to start or a bus to arrive.

  7. Stopped in before a show at MSG for a quick beer and was not terribly impressed. However, to be fair, we did not eat anything and were there for all of 25 minutes. The beer options were very standard, nothing special. I wound up ordering an Angry Orchard because none of the tap beer options were exciting at all. My drink was barely cold, and my friend who ordered a glass of wine found it to be so disappointing that she didn't even drink half of it. The place was packed at the time, and getting served at the bar was more difficult than it should have been. However, Brother Jimmy's has location on its side. Right across the street from MSG, it is ideal if you need a quick stop before a show or sporting event. I would definitely try it again and will happily update this review if I have a better experience.

  8. Came here to get beers with a friend a few days ago – definitely good value for $$! We came to check out the $20 Monday night deal, which is TOTALLY worth it! Only downside is that you will be relegated to drinking Coors Light. 🙂

The wings and ribs that came with the deal were pretty decent. I will definitely consider coming back for a meal. If you're looking for beer and wings on a Monday night, however, I will stand by Brother Jimmy's!
