Im a fan of Popeye's Chicken ever since I was a little kid. I always liked spicy food.
Popeye's chicken, marinated in Popeyes spicy chicken marinade thats hand-battered and breaded into a Southern crispy coating with a side of buttery butter is one of the best combos u can ever treat your taste bud to.
Try their popcorn shrimp which is a tender crispy shrimp seasoned in Louisiana herbs and spices then served up crispy in their unique Southern style breading.
This place just opened like a month ago. Cant wait to go back again.
So-so place in regards to their service and decor/set-up. The food is fine, we get what we came for — fried chicken, hot, crispy, with extra hot sauce, please! Although they are a little stingy with their hot sauce. The one I usually go to in Queens take a big handful and toss it into a bag. Here, they take a few packets as if they are trying to conserve their stash and daintily put it in the bag. Booo!
There is a fairly large seating area of tables and booths in the center between Burger King and Popeyes, and a couple tables directly in front of where you order at Popeyes.
I'm not sure how much business they get here on a Thursday evening, but my dad and I ordered the special 10 piece dark meat for $10, spicy version, and they didn't have any ready and had to make some. But that day they seemed behind on orders in general, because there were two other people waiting around for their food. Maybe they don't cook enough volume.
I think there are fast and slow days, because other times we've gone, we barely had to wait at all.
Their staff can be lazy at times — our chicken had come out (the manager finished cooking it and announced it was ready), and another girl who was in the process of fulfilling another order asked the young guy to work on our boxing up our food. The guy looked at her, and still didn't do anything. Just stood there. At that point there were no other customers ordering, but he only jumped to the register when another worker's dad or or something came by. I understand that he may have been directed to take orders that day, but if people are crowding around the counter and waiting for their food and someone else is busy, help out! Don't just stand there like a turd.
I like their new red soda machine, the new ones where you select the beverage you want on a screen. I think it's shared between the two food places, so everyone can get their refills from this.
Perhaps not the fastest fast food out there, so don't come starving! Be prepared to wait!
