  1. Not a fan
waitress took forever to get there
then the food took forever as well
they were not as apologetic as they should have been
plus when the food came out it was cold seriously !!!
    will not be returning

  2. Let's be honest the food is mediocre and the beer list leaves much to be desired.

    Why 4-stars then?

Because this place is home to the best Browns Backer club in the city.

If you are from Cleveland or enjoy watching people drink with unbridled enthusiasm because they cheer for a team that they always earnestly hope will win but know deep down in their hearts will inevitably crush their hopes and dreams time after time, Brother Jimmy's is where you need to be on Sunday afternoons, and the occasional Thursday night.

You will eat wings, you will drink cheap shitty beer. You will meet fantastic people who you suspect are tourists because people who actually live in NY can't be that earnest or nice, but you would be wrong because Cleveland.

You will cheer, you will be drunk, and the Browns will lose but you won't care because you'll be drunk and what else are Sundays for?

  3. I really enjoyed the happy hour specials here…$5 margaritas and $3 well drinks! Can't go wrong with that. The space is really huge and is great for large parties of guests. However, service was slower than average and the food was just mediocre. I would come back, but just for happy hour specials.

  4. Cavs vs. Raptors – Game 5

Though I didn't really have a dog in this fight as far as teams go (Sixers 4 lyfe)… as a consummate admirer of the transcendent basketball talent of Lebron James, I found myself here with some die hard fans from "The Land."  Having lived in this city for about six years and never having met a Clevelander/Cleveland-ite/Clevelandian (??) I was surprised at how many denizens of "The Land" made the relocation to this city; well, either that or they're on the LBJ bandwagon (can't blame them, he is the chosen one… definitely not that cream puff Steph Curry).

With basketball being my personal favorite spectator sport (as well as a sport that I was quite skilled in during my formative years as a grade/high school child), I attended with some fellow kindred spirits.  This place was suggested by the Cleveland connection my one friend had, as this place is apparently a Cavaliers' bar.  We reserved a table since around 8 of us were coming in.

We were able to pull off a few happy hour drinks before 8:00 hit.  With $3 well drink deals, it was hard to say no when the waitress asked if we needed more drinks.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to catch her in the last 10 minutes before the stroke of 8… so our large table opted for beer towers after the happy hour deals closed.

As far as food goes, it was all serviceable.  It's been years since I've had hushpuppies, and I actually forgot that they were as tasty as the ones I had here; we ordered a big old bucket of the stuff, and we finished all of them in no time (while tasty, perhaps it was more of a testament to the munchies we had acquired post happy hour-ing).  The fried pickles we ordered were crunchy, and while I enjoyed them, they were a bit more buttery than I would have liked (still ate a bunch though).

Though the starters that we ordered and shared amongst the table were filling (to a point), yours truly was in dire need of some protein; nothing makes me more in the mood for burgers and fries than personal over-consumption of boozy libations coupled with the observation of world class athletes trying to put an orange ball through a hole with a net attached to it.  This prompted me to order a barbecue burger (sans cheese).  It was topped with some fried onion rings and lathered with a spicy BBQ sauce; I quite enjoyed the burger, as the patty was relatively thick and cooked medium (which is what I requested).  The fries that came with the burger though were disappointing; super soggy, not crispy, not very hot… pretty much covered all the bases of how fries shouldn't taste.

Lastly, the place needs to do something about ventilation; granted we did attend on the hottest day of the year (to date), but the humidity and temperature in the place was third world tropical… and we were indoors.  Maybe get some AC units in the back, or even a ceiling fan somewhere… as I don't like being a sweaty mess while I'm eating deep fried foods.

  5. I've never eaten at a brother jimmys but I've been here for plenty of happy hours. They're drinks are good and reasonable prices. The latest drink I tried was the Palmetto Punch and it was very tasty. It tastes similar to a Malibu Bay Breeze. I had two of them but I don't think I would have more than that because it is very sweet.

I plan to eat at brother jimmys one day and when I do I'll will definitely let you know how it is!

  6. Never a dull moment when I eat here. My friends and I have made this our go-to spot after shopping or just to hang out. It can be quite packed on days when a sports game is playing but other than that, you get seated pretty quickly. The drinks are great and the food is flavorful…make sure you taste that Mac n' cheese! The menu has recently changed since I last went in December 2015, but a lot of my favorites were still present. The waitresses are courteous and I have never had a problem with my service. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

  7. I feel that I've been to at least three Brother Jimmy locations in NYC and I always seem to get the same things, and all these things are gigantic in portions and delicious to satisfy that bar food craving.

To begin with, their drinks are nice and sugary. I got the Charleston A.P. in memory of my recent Charleston trip and it was nice and sweet from the sweet tea vodka and lemonade. As for food, my friends and I got the Bucket O' Hot Wings. I didn't count how many there were specifically but had to be at least 20 I feel. We shared it between 4 people and there was one wing left over, uneaten! We got too full from being stuff by the BBQ Nachos, pulled prok. Plenty of everything: chips, guac, salsa, sour cream, pork and beans. A great complement to some beer and cocktails.

The star is definitely the wings though. Plenty of sauce and meat. At $21, totally worth it to fulfill some drunk munchies.

  8. I like the overall look of the place and the staff were friendly enough. But they totally bungled a reservation I had set for a friend's pre birthday dinner. I would give this location a solid 4 stars because the food is good and we liked the vibe. We were rolling 10 deep so I knew to make sure that I had a reservation set. When we got there they didn't have enough seats for us. So on a busy Friday night we're left standing near the entrance while the hostess tries to salvage the situation and by salvage the situation, I mean we wait for a couple tables to clear out. But unfortunately it left a sour taste in our mouth for the rest of the night although it could have been the swamp water.
They did throw in some complimentary shots, so +1 star!
