  1. Perfectly cozy diner serving up unpretentious food at good prices.  My fave in the area for breakfast/brunch.   While i stick with items on the menu generally (breakfast burrito, chorizo hash), the rotating specials are creative and tempting.

  2. Cute little place with pretty good food.  The bar staff was attentive and friendly and they have a great selection of beer, wine and cocktails.

I was a bit disappointed with the fried pickles, as the pickles were thin and not thick, but none-the-less, they were still delicious.  The fish tacos were huge and had a spicy kick to them.

Great place to stop for a bite if in the area.

  3. Popped in for a small bite on a late Sunday afternoon because brunch elsewhere wasn't sufficient enough for our appetites. It's hard not to notice the decor with its colorful walls that pop and funky macro photographs of action figures. It almost looked like an old timey diner repainted to look like a child's playhouse. I'm not sure if that's the best way to describe it but there you go.

My friend and I ordered the mac and cheese fritters and potato skins. Everything on the menu screamed classic American diner food with maybe a few contemporary updates here and there. After receiving our appetizers and eyeing everyone else's entrees, it's clear you get huge portions here so you don't have to worry about leaving hungry. The potato skins were good and pretty much what I was expecting: cheesy and bacony. The mac and cheese fritters were unfortunately bland and required some extra cheese from the potato skins to taste worthwhile. Overall, staff was very friendly but food didn't leave much of an impression. An ok experience.

  4. The food is not exceptional, but completely decent for what they *could* be charging.

Fried Mac and cheese, decent omelettes, soups are fine, burgers are pretty good, standard frozen fries. Food arrives fast and they cook the burger how you fucking like it (I'm a big fan of places doing this).

Tonight, my friend sprung for the jalapeños poppers. Cream cheese-stuffed and fried. Yummy, but meh. And the dipping sauce was chipotle mayo with honey – tasty!!

This place is generally hit or miss, but the ambiance is nice for a date. Waiters are hit or miss, too – sometimes attentive, sometimes glued to their phones in front of your thirsty date. Just order normal things like burgers and smile to guilt trip your waiter, etc and you'll be happy.

Also, the soda here is always terrible lol, I don't know what the deal is with the soda gun.

  5. I came here on a Saturday night during there karaoke hour which I believe is after nine on Fridays and Saturdays…it was pretty fun. People are down to earth there's no judgements and it's a very intimate place. They bring you a menu and a karaoke book of songs to choose from!

The food is mediocre..I ordered a BLT Which I personally didn't love. It came with avocado, bacon etc. I wouldn't order it again.

I also ordered fresh mozzarella with a side of marinara sauce as an appetizer it is good but the sauce seemed as if it came from a can and the breaded fresh mozzarella wasn't the ooey gooey cheesiness I was expecting.

Aside from the food this is a place you go to for more of the atmosphere, the lady running the karaoke is very fun and into it! The tables at night were candle lit and the staff is very attentive and welcoming.

I would go back only for drinks and karaoke night!

  6. No, its not called poke and anchor like I kept calling it (where's my brain sometimes?)
I'd describe this place as a seaside diner (as others have) but more specifically as a Russian seaside diner
This could be because a.) There's a lot of red in here b.) We were talking about the Russian community in Brooklyn or c.) I just get an idea in my head sometimes.

So its really pretty unpretentious, reasonably priced (most sandwiches with fries were around $8) and they serve a big breakfast menu all day (lots of hash options if that's your thing.)
I had a veggie wrap (could of swore it was suppsed to have avocado in it but whatevs) with fries which was good, but let me tell you four words you gotta remember-mac and cheese balls!  Served with a side of creamy horseradish sauce I felt like a glutton eating these but they were delicious!  They also have vegetarian options and a lot of burgers.

They have a full bar, do karaoke certain nights of the week, and are super quick with food.

Its on the way to the IKEA and makes a nice stop.

  7. I grew up in Jersey were diners are religion (along with malls). When I step into a diner there is a piece of my soul that awakens and stirs. Diners aren't just about the food. Although there are certain staples every diner needs (burgers and fries for the win, disco fries for the freakin' gold medal!), a diner with personality knows what real diner life is all about. It's about knowing that customers are coming in to either sober up, pig out, maybe have their spirits lifted by food and and good company, or a combination of all of the above. There is an understanding that just being in a diner will make the entire day a good one. That is exactly how I felt when I walked into Hope & Anchor. Specifically three stars for food and a bonus fourth star for great service because man did Hope & Anchor make me smile. Food was good (I do wish my burger was a little juicier, but that might have had to do with my ordering). Drinks were great. Loved those strong pours during brunch! Service was more than great, and atmosphere was fantastic. I can't wait to go back and only wish it were my local spot.

  8. This place defiently has a diner feel but more hipster. Ordered French toast. Regular, nothing special but it was good. I also ordered the granola and yogurt. I was excited to order it because I love granola and yogurt, but sadly I did not like this one. It was too tart. Mimosa was good.  Had a perfect balance of orange juice and Champaign.

Service was good. Our server was really nice and friendly.
