  1. Checked this place out for restaurant week. Love the environment – it's dark, cozy, warm, and has some very comfortable seating. When you opened up the menu, it actually lit up so you could read it, a very cool touch! Very attentive service which is always appreciated. There are two large bar areas as well with the same vibe.

As it was restaurant week, we tried the restaurant week menu which we did need to ask for. I got the tuna tartare – amazing tuna on top of avocado with the right amount of salt from the capers. Excellent tuna though was a fairly small portion. I got the salmon over quinoa and veggies for my main entree. Well cooked salmon and a good dish overall. I had a bite of my boyfriend's hanger steak which was well cooked but a bit fatty. For restaurant week, you didn't have a choice of desert (as it was chef's selection), so we were served the tiramisu. Good, not great tiramisu.

Will definitely be making a return trip soon!

  2. One lonesome star… For a steak house not to be able to cook a good steak says a lot. Only saving grace about this place is the full bar and the atmosphere. Dimly lit with plentiful seating and great decor. Parking is a bit tricky, due to the fact you have to find street parking… but big groups are definitely welcome.

Salads were over dressed, steaks were not evenly cooked, salmon was sub par and dessert was nothing out of the ordinary. Would not go back, at least not for the food. Half my steak was med well the other half was med rare and bloody… huge disappointment to say the least.

  3. Underwhelming for typical steakhouse prices, just average. Not likely to return even though we live five minutes away walking. Food was fine: we had an 8 oz. filet mignon, scallops with pesto and pasta, burrata salad, and kumamoto oysters. The filet was tasty and well cooked. The scallops were okay, a bit too salty, and the plate was dominated by pasta. The burrata salad was mediocre, I've had much better burrata and the heirloom tomatoes didn't seem heirloomy. Kumamoto oysters were the star: they taste like the ocean and are amazing, but nature made them that way, not Liberty Prime.

Service was pleasant, but wooden with a few too many interruptions. Decor is fine, a bit stuffy for my taste, and a Christmas poinsettia lingered in the corner (it's almost May). Drinks were fine, nothing special. Like I said, this was underwhelming and I could eat much better elsewhere also within a five minute walk!

  4. It's ok… I can't say it's OMG goodness, and I can't say it's horrible… it's ok…
the 6 of us order 3 different steak: Tomahawk, ribeye, and porterhouse… the meat is good, thick cut, portion is good… but OMG the price!!!!!!!! I know when I go to a steak house the price will be high, but oh wow… especially their special: tomahawk steak… you should ask them how much before ordering it… we didn't know it's going to be THAT much, but I mean we are celebrating… so we don't mind… but it could cause a heart attack for others…
For me, this is average steak house… would I go back again? Maybe not just because the distance, and I probably can find somewhere similar closer to my house!!!

  5. **Review for Liberty Bar**

Liberty Bar is connected to Liberty Prime Steakhouse. It has a pub feel to it. My boyfriend and I came in for brunch on a Saturday at around 12:30. Except for two guys sitting by the bar, the place was completely empty.

For my entree, I got the steak sandwich (rib-eye steak, onion rings, sweet peppers, chipotle mayo, served with Parmesan garlic steak fries). The steak was pretty chewy so I would not recommend getting this. The "Parmesan garlic" steak fries just tasted like regular bland potato wedges.

My boyfriend had the Liberty Prime burger (prime beef, peppered thick cut bacon, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, arugula, roasted garlic aioli). It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special.

We also ordered a loaded baked potato, which was supposed to have scrambled eggs, cheddar, scallions, and bacon – but the scallion and bacon were nowhere to be found. It tasted like they cut a potato in half, threw some scrambled eggs and cheese on it and microwaved it.

I guess that's what we get for coming to brunch at a bar. The Bloody Mary was surprisingly good and pretty cheap too at $4. I'm not sure how packed the bar gets during prime hours but I don't mind checking it out. I'll just be avoiding the food.

  6. Brunch review!

Brunch with the husband was a special treat today. I had a Living Social deal that was about to expire and wanted to use it. Glad I did.

We started off with drinks: a Mimosa for me, a Bloody Mary for him. He was exceptionally pleased with his, since it had a lot of bite and they were generous with the olives. Our waitress read the specials and most included shrimp or lobster, so that left me out. My husband did order the mushroom barley soup from the specials, and he thought it was nicely done. They brought mini corn muffins to the table and they were delightful, with a nice touch of lemon.

Appetizer: calamari. Delicious, fresh, nicely presented. Very generous portion, more than enough for the two of us. I was not hungry after eating that.

For our entrees he had Crab Benedict, I had Filet Mignon Benedict. So delicious!  I didn't touch the home fries because I'd eaten all that calamari, and the benedict was a large amount of meat and egg.

I was beyond overstuffed at that point and laughed when they brought out a dessert menu. I needed to get up and walk off all that great food! Try it, you'll like it, the place wasn't full so you could probably walk in. I'll have to try them for dinner sometime.

Service was excellent, our server, Tricia, is to be commended.

  7. My husband and I like to try a new steakhouse in the city for every special event–birthday, anniversary, a Thursday when it's not snowing and the sun is actually out (sorry I'm still pretty bitter about how the northeast winter still won't let go when it's officially spring). It was my time to pick a steakhouse and I've had my eye on Liberty Prime for a while and decided to stay local and give it a try.

    Really glad we did!

Ambiance is beautiful. Dim lights, fresh red roses in view as soon as you enter, mahogany furniture left and right. Gorgeous.

Per usual, we started off with a few appetizers. tuna tartare with avocado, grilled octopus with chorizo, chickpeas, piquillo peppers, pickled red onion, and olive oil and crispy artichokes. I was a little bit disappointed with the crispy artichokes. It was good, but I've had better (Supper in the city, most notably). But my husband absolutely loved it, and he doesn't typically like artichoke. Maybe it's because I prefer my artichoke with parmesan and this was my first time trying it with goat cheese. But I digress. The grilled octopus was super yummy. I even made a mental note to order this for lunch one day since I work right around the corner because duh, why not.

My husband and I both ordered the bone-in ribeye. I ordered mine with truffle butter. My goodness…could I order this for lunch to go, too? It was SO good. Cooked perfectly, flavors were insane. I'm drooling on my laptop as I type this. One of the best ribeyes I've had in quite a while, and I eat plenty of ribeyes, TRUST ME. Paired with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chateau St. Jean, Sonoma CA 2010…you've got yourself a meal. Just kidding–paired with two glasses.

Service was wonderful. Waiter was totally charming and helpful and did not judge us on the amount of food we ordered. Looking forward to coming back again!

  8. This is definitely a long time coming updated review. For sometime now Liberty Prime has definitely stepped up their game on all levels. Their menus have been revamped with adding more options like a raw bar, double rib steak for two, and porter house for two are just the beginning of their new updated menu. When it comes to meats, LP really knows what they are doing. Going with local butchers and adding a new chef really shows in their flavorful dishes.

What's really impressive about Liberty Prime is that they have become an establishment that offers it all. From fine dining, great bar and now The Gallery you can celebrate any occasion here. Liberty bar has a great full bar with some pretty awesome bartenders like Justin & Dave, room is filled with some tables or the option to sit at the bar. Just like their restaurant menu, the bar menu offers great dishes from apps to desserts. The steak nachos are delicious and one of my faves here and what's a great way to accompany a great menu, that's right a great cocktail. I've order tons of cocktails at this bar all great options, my favorite has become the mango martini. They always keep their season beers rotating and tons of options to pick from.

Now The Gallery at Liberty Prime, I have yet to attend an event or even host one there but I've toured the venue and must say; it's gorgeous!! You have a few options with this venue. Upstairs they have two rooms with both windows and doors that can you give you privacy if wanted, beautifully redone floors, brick walls and gorgeous dark brown wood really gives the venue a nice sophisticated look. The second floor is equipped with a bar which makes it convenient for guest to grab drinks. The first floor is gorgeous tall ceiling room with a full mirrored wall and full bar, this space seems to be perfect for weddings, company parties, etc. You really can't go wrong with Liberty Prime.

Staff is absolutely amazing George, who is one of the owners, is always friendly and a great guy. Whenever he is around which is always, he makes sure he comes by to greet you and make sure that everything is up to part. Juan, one of the managers, is an absolutely delight and a wonderful person who really cares for customers and makes sure everyone leaves with a positive experience. Highly recommend!
