  1. I  tried all three wraps today (3 for $10) at the madison square eats location and enjoyed them all. It's really hard to find food that isn't deep fried, smothered in cheese or served on a huge bun, which equals lots of calories.

The worker told me each roll was 100 calories but by my estimation – and I do this for a living – they are about 150 – 175 (subtracted one star for inaccuracy), with the goat cheese/beet option probably clocking in at 200. Still not terrible when the other choices in the madison square eats location are mostly pizza, sweets and burgers/fries. They do fill you up sufficiently and are tasty.

My favorites were the tofu/quinoa roll, which had a sauce that gave it a smokey taste – and the beets/goats cheese roll because I absolutely love goat cheese. To make the rolls they use greenland rice paper wrappers, wet it, place the fresh ingredients in the center, fold the wrapper over and serve it to you cold.

I immediately came home and bought the wrappers, which are 34 calories each, since I work in Brooklyn and would like to try to make my own version at home. Whenever I'm in the area thought I'd be happy to let them do the work for me and they are supposed to be opening a permanent location in the area sometime soon.

I've checked out their expanded menu on their website and that stuff looks delicious, so I would definitely go back to sample a wider selection of food.

    PROS
    Friendly staff
    Fresh ingredients
Relatively low calories for the rolls
Quick service (took about 3 mins)
    Tasty and filling

  2. You definitely won't experience a waiting issue at this kiosk as no one appears to be interested in having a healthy lunch in this neighborhood. The lentil summer roll was pretty tasty. I would order this roll again. The beet roll was cool but not as tasty as the lentil. The roll meal comes in pairs so you can pick two different rolls and I found it to be satisfying with the quinoa. I really think this place is a great healthy addition in midtown as many workers in this area tend to flock to fatty foods.  I will be back!

  3. This review is for the Two Tablespoons stand that is currently at the Union Square Holiday Market. This seems like a stand vendor so I'm sure their offerings are consistent at Mad Square Eats, Broadway Bites, etc.  I'm becoming more and more about vegan food and gf.. though I'm not sure if what I had was gf. It was really delicious though.  I picked up lunch to go at around 11am on Thursday and was serviced promptly.  They had a lunch combo of half lentil ginger chili, and half of the smoked gouda and paprika mac and cheese. The lentil/ginger chili was good..but definitely didn't taste fresh, as if it was sitting around for too long. It was also a little too mushed up, I was the lentil had shined through some more.  The mac though was amazing.  Gouda gave it a cheesy but not overly

  4. I've been a huge fan of Mad Sq Eats for a long time now.  I love the vendors that come, both new and old.  And Two Tablespoons is no exception.

I was in the neighborhood for a meeting and decided to check out Mad Sq Eats as today was opening day.  As I was perusing the different vendors, I saw the Summer rolls, which appeared healthy and light, and I decided to give them here a try.  As everything is prepared to order, you might have to wait a few minutes – but it's worth it!  You know they are working hard because everything is made right in front of you.

I have to say all three options were truly enjoyable (you can get 2 summer rolls for $7.50 or 3 for $10).  One was a Tofu/Quinoa, another beet/goat cheese, and the third a curried corn.  All three were really tasty – though my favorite was the Tofu Quinoa.

Everything they serve is organic, vegetarian, and gluten-free.  I can't wait to try the rest of their dishes.  Even though Mad Sq Eats is only open thru May 30, Two Tablespoons is opening up a full restaurant on 33rd and Broadway in June (I believe), so I look forward to checking them out soon.

  5. Service was awesome. You order then immediately pay. Before I was finished getting my change my summer rolls arrived. Awesome. Cashier: "I guess he was listening while you ordered?"

Tofu roll was fantastic great flavor and so light. Quinoa Corn and curry roll was just ok. Just tasted like curry I guess….nothing special was hoping for more.

  6. Really a great combo of healthiness and tastiness. While a lot of people have great comments on the summer rolls, I was craving quinoa for the night so opted for the tofu bowl with sweet potatoes and edamame. A bit of spicy sauce made it tastes even better! The tofu was also marinated perfectly well that it completely absorbed the flavor!

A dinner without meat can be as satisfactory as well! Will be back for other bowls.
