Like others say, this is a one-stop for all international cuisine!! I wanted to try Pho and sandwich and maki roll at the same time but didn't go to multiple places.. Fork&Spoon solve my dilemma! It has really decent pho (veggie stock was great!!), soondoobu (korean spicy tofu soup), maki roll (great price, $4.75 for california roll), huge salad bar, sandwich bar and made-to-order salad bar… And the best part is the price. All are around $6.50-$7.95.
Soondoobu was a bit watery but tastes fine. Fried fish sandwich was ok but not very good as the fish wasn't hot.
Whatever you order, the portion size is big. It has some tables too so you can eat there.
Highly recommended.
Great lunch spot. They have everything under the sun – sandwiches, wraps, salads, sushi, Chinese, Italian, and more. Everyone will find something to eat. The guys making sandwiches are super sweet and quick.
Typical American deli but with Asian options as well. IE pho, sushi, udon.
I made my own salad here (large $7.25 with 5 toppings). Got the mixed greens with grilled chicken, diced tomatoes, black olives, mixed peppers, blue cheese, and chipotle dressing. This is the combo I generally get when ordering salads. But it just didn't size up here. It tasted just okay to me. Wouldn't go back for the salad, especially when better Asian food is just a couple blocks farther.
Shocked that more people don't know about this place! Not that I'm complaining…lines at even the halfway decent lunch spots in midtown are infuriating so this was a nice breath of fresh air. And this place is more than halfway decent. It's….full-way decent?
Fork & Spoon has just about anything you could want in a lunch spot AND you can't beat the prices. I'm used to paying at least $12 for a salad elsewhere – here, a large salad w/ 5 toppings is just over 8 bucks with tax. My wallet was very happy with that one. And while there isn't the whole "four free toppings + ____ " deal that a lot of salad places in the area offer, it still ends up being cheaper. The free toppings at those establishments are boring and not nutrient dense – the good stuff is $1-$3.50 per topping. If you're not careful, you can end up with a $16 salad that's only okay. Not the case here.
At Fork & Spoon, you can opt for the salad station like I did on my first visit, but there's also a well-stocked, buffet-style salad bar. It's got a nice variety of things – lots of fruit, grilled veggies, kale salad, quinoa, bok choy, roasted brussels sprouts, various hot food options (roasted chicken, roasted salmon, wings, mac and cheese) etc. And like everything else here, it's reasonably priced. And if that doesn't suit you, they've got an impressive sandwich/wrap menu that can lead you into a downward spiral of indecision (the perils of large menus).
I'm giving this 4 stars for food but 5 for service. At a lot of salad spots I've been to, employees are brusque and not very personable. Here, the guy who made my salad was just sparkling with good vibes. Half of our conversation was in Spanish, which is always fun. At one point I asked for brussels sprouts (I was one of those kids who actually couldn't get enough of those suckers – still the case today), which aren't technically offered at the salad station. He just moseyed on over to the salad bar and popped some in the bowl, and that was that. Nice surprise. You gotta have a sense of humor working at a lunch spot in midtown – dealing with hundreds of hungry, impatient, corporate people is not an easy job. And this particular employee did, so kudos to him.
Line is long but moves faster than just about every line I've seen. Sometimes I can't tell if I even paid (I always pay, I say this to make a point, just to be clear). And just FYI, they do not ONLY give you a fork and spoon with your meal. While that would be cute and kitschy, it would be hopelessly impractical. I'll save you the effort: cutting grilled chicken with a spoon does not work. It just doesn't. What I'm saying is, they give you proper silverware with your meal, so don't fret.
Also – Fork & Spoon has Dr. Brown's soda and Sweet Mint Orbit. Win.
Came here for some food and im so happy i did. This place is so great. I had the chicken club panini and its so tasty. The staff is nice and the place is beautiful. However, my only complaint is that they could of wiped down the tables more and swept a little bit more.
This place is amazing! I loved it the minute I walked in. From ordering, to the selection of food you want in a buffet style lunch place, bam! Nails it, people. I echo the praises of others about price as well! I went over to their Asian prep area and got myself some well overdue bibimbap and it was piping hot and prepared fast!! I emphasize too that it was prepared not only quickly, but beautifully (even the packing up of it was secure and neat). Anyway, I need not to ramble on – go to this diamond in the rough, you won't regret it. My bibimbap was $10 by the way and the portion was more than I expected! I will be returning to try more of their buffet options and the other few stations they have in there. Clean, big, affordable, quick, hooray, Fork & Spoon!
I just started working in Manhattan and discovered this neat place close by. I called in for a pick up and ordered the chicken bibimbap (~$9). I was surprised it came with miso soup, but I found it to be a little too salty. At a first glance the bibimbap looked kind of small, especially for $9, but I was pretty full when I finished. The chicken was very tender and flavorful and there's more vegetables than rice which is a plus for me.
This place will definitely be my go-to place whenever I don't have time to bring my own lunch to work. Their salad bar looks interesting, so I might go for that next time.
Not a fan of fork&spoon. I mean it's a quick lunch destination I get it. I used to work in the building two doors down and dreaded the days where I had 20mins to find and consume lunch because that meant fork and spoon was it.
Food is ehhh, pricey but that's midtown. I never buy any beverages from here unless I feel like I'm ballin' and in that case I don't want to ball out in fork and spoon on booze less drinks.
Salad bar is decent but whenever I added any type of chicken to the mix it either tasted/smelled weird or I would end up with weird bits of chicken with the gristle. Very unappetizing. So I permanently pass.
Ordering food during the am rush didn't really fare that much better. I was once charged $2 extra dollars for extra avocado on my breakfast sandwich. It was literally half of a half that he sliced and spread out and kind of mashed to make it look like there was extra. Yea it was a whole "thing"
The ONLY saving grace: the ramen/udon station. OMG, I walked three blocks in the rain today to get it. I'm a huge ramen fan (I lived on campus) and this is my favorite quick go to spot. It's loaded with all the add ins I like ( I always insist on "just a little bit more…please" I tip!!) and I like it super spicy with two limes. Yummmmm!! This is why I am still a customer. The three stars are just for the Ramen, the packaged Ramen that I can barely let cool down so I can enjoy.
