  1. Decided to get brunch last minute and found The Wren through Yelp. Decided on this place out of the many brunch places since I saw a couple of reviews saying there was a little to no wait. Got there on a Sunday afternoon and was seated right away for a party of two. I had the potato rosti/smoked trout. It was delicious! Didn't know it was a bar too. There was a lot of people stopping in just for drinks. Waitress was friendly. Had a good experience overall.

  2. I've been to The Wren several times for drinks and it was always a solid, fun bar to hang in…until last night. I don't know what was up but everything was off. The service was bad, and my $13 hot spiced apple cider cocktail was so gross to the point I had two sips and left it at the bar. My friend said her jalapeño-infused cocktail wasn't good either but she forced herself to guzzle it down because…no alcohol left behind.

Look, no business is perfect so maybe it was just a weird night here. My suggestion is come here and avoid the signature cocktails and keep it simple, or try their brunch which I hear is quite good.

  3. The Wren is a great spot for drinks any day of the week. I came here with some co-workers on a Wednesday and we were lucky to get a table towards the back. I can see how this place would get really busy on a weekend as it's pretty popular.

I had The 7th which perfectly balanced vodka, St. Germain and grapefruit. I also tried the Bleeding Heart and their French 75, both of which were great. Their drink menu is extensive so should be able to cater to any palette as well. The ambiance is lively and cozy, which creates for a great evening. The decor is quite homey and rustic, with wooden tables and strung lights. The service is also attentive and helpful. I look forward to stopping by The Wren again (and next time, hopefully for brunch!)

  4. The Wren is such a great bar to know. It's the kind of place where you can take an old friend, a first date, a bunch of new friends, and everyone in between.

The ambiance is definitely lower-Manhattan *cool* and romantic without being pretentious. It can get pretty packed, but you can nail down a table if you've got the patience and predatory city attitude.

I've tried a bunch of cocktails — you honestly can't go wrong with any of them. The bartenders clearly know what they're doing.

I was a bit disappointed by the cheese plate, though. Perhaps I've just become a cheese snob thanks to Murray's and Beecher's, but I felt the selection was lacking.

Still, a sweet bar and fun place for whatever occasion!

  5. Loved it. Super well decorated, excellent ambience and drinks are super strong for American standards

  6. Come here, and make a reavation for the mixology class, so much fun! Not only do you learn about alcohol while drinking a few drinks that are made for you, you get to go behind the bar and make one for yourself at the downstairs bar, Very cool! They get really busy even for a Thursday so make reservations. There was only one girl who gave us a bit of attitude because we were in the way, but there's not a whole lot of room to enjoy the upstairs bar, so be advised and get there early. I would come back, and try out everything else this place has to offer.

  7. I want to review just for the atmosphere and the 2 drinks i had but i will come back to let you know a little bit more about the service and the food. I came earlier today to meet my friend who works there. In fact i bookmarked the place a while ago so when she told me she was working there i got very excited. I really like the interior design: very industrial, very "Williamsburg". The best table is the one on the back of the place…the one on the very back. i had the chance to meet very quickly 2 colleagues of my friend and the were very friendly.  Now the drinks: DELICIOUS. I had the hot cider with ginger liquo.  i was sooooo happy to know that they were making hot cider as i love that. It s like having hot chocoloate before going to bed. Very conforting. Can't wait to try new things on the menu!!!

  8. If it weren't for the almost total lack of light and the drunk guitar player wailing away, the experience might have been more enjoyable.  As for the food, definitely try the fish and chips if you come here, because one of the waiters who is British recommended them. And she was right.  The vibe is really trendy and hipster, almost to the point of annoyance, but it stops just short of going over the edge.

Drinks were good, but a little bit on the pricey side.  This is a cool little place that is a more intimate setting for drinks and small food to share rather than a nice big sit down meal with a group of friends.
