For an express restaurant they are mighty slow.
You're better off calling ahead of time, going to work, running errands, doing laundry, and then picking up your food.
The girls behind the counter look like they hate life & your presence is bothering them.
I mean you chose to work here not me, I just want some rasta pasta.
They have a bouncer with a bulletproof vest, I guess because of the neighborhood but, I don't see the need for one.
The last time I went was after work on a Saturday night (after 11pm) and the place was not packed at all.
Don't get the macaroni pie, it's oily as all hell.
Like seriously, you can use that shit to slick your hair back.
Can't go wrong with the rasta pasta.
The boneless chicken roti is good too.
This is the takeout version of the Footprints restaurants. One Saturday night I really wanted some Rasta Pasta. My bf I went to the Footprints on Clarendon and of course the restaurant was packed and I was pretty hungry. There was no way I could wait an hour to be seated. So we decided to try the Express version of Footprints. It has somewhat of a fast food setup. Big menu overhead. They have many of the food items that you would find in the restaurants but they also have other items and serve breakfast. You can eat in, there are many tables inside. Extremely casual setup. You order then wait until you hear your number. Wait was about 15 minutes. Food tastes just the same as it does on the restaurant.
Okkkkk Footprints!! I must give you props! First off, this restaurant is serving excellent authentic Caribbean cuisine. Upon walking in, it can be a bit confusing as to where the line order is. Sometimes the young employees ignore you until they are ready to take your order. So not cool. The food takes a while to be served no matter what is ordered. However, when your food is finally ready, it is delicious!!!! I love the Oxtail! The curry chicken roti is excellent. Please be advised that I am a weirdo and does not usually eat curry chicken outside of my house. So this is a big deal for me to like the curry chicken soooooo much! The roti is soft & chewy. I cannot wait to return. There are a few booths in the restaurant to dine in. The restaurant & bathroom is very clean. I will be back regardless of the flaky service! Happy Yelping!
I have been going to footprints for a decade now, but mainly the Clarendon location. This one is beautiful and the cashiers are nice. However, the manager was very nasty which I find off putting for such a nice restaurant. The food is AHMAZING though. I always order jerk shrimp rasta pasta with a sorrel. Yum! The food is on point all the time so no complaints on that end.
Don't go to Footprints Cafe if you're starving. Service is SLOW, even without any customers seated in the dining area. I still don't understand the "express" part in their name. There was nothing express about today's service. My colleagues and I walked in to place our orders at the register. We had a menu before we walked in and knew our orders to help faciitate the process, but that was a big mistake because the printed menu does not correspond with the oversized menu posted over the kitchen. Confused yet, so were we. Apparently some of the menu items which had both a small and large option were incorrect. There's only one size. It gets better…the barbecue chicken comes with rice but the rest of the items like cajun/jerk/stew chicken do not come with rice. Did I lose you yet? Prepare to pay extra for rice as a side order.
I decided to keep the order simple…vegetable roti. We sat and waited for our lunch which we later picked up at the register. I loved my roti, because it was filled with broccoli (my favorite vegetable) and carrots (great for eyesight). It was a pleasant surprise and definitely made up for the chaos and slow service. No promises that I'll be back for the $6.50 roti.
The decor was nice and neat, very simple with the brown. I do not like the windows all around the restaurant, not a fan of pedestrians watching me eat. I'd stick to sitting in the middle but there really is no place to hide lol.
It's not as good as the Footprints on Claredon, but it is express as it says. The rasta pasta seems a bit soupy, but their macaroni pie is pretty good.
I won't bore you with a Long review about this and that and blah, blah, blah…
You come here for one reason… And one reason only… The Rasta Pasta. The rest of their food is lackluster. Save yourself the time and aggravation. Get the pasta and get out.
When I was first introduced to Footprints rasta pasta 8 years ago, it was one of the best dishes I could claim from a Caribbean restaurant. Fast forward 8 years later I think the ingredients have slightly changed but not for the better. This is still a good dish but it significantly lacks complementing ingredients. Heavy cream and penne alone will not cut it.
This location has great potential. It's in an area with heavy traffic, It has intimate seating and appears to be clean. BUT the customer service here sucks! There are tons of cashiers just standing around. Management walking around looking equally clueless. What happen to using our words? "hello may I help you?" Is a start…
To be fair I'd say it is "ok" because the sorrel and BBQ chicken was tasty.
If the customer service improves and they speed up the length of time it takes to get your food, this location could rock.
