  1. I thought I had made a reservation for brunch on the weekend, but because my reservation was for 10 am, we were relegated to the breakfast menu. Brunch doesn't begin until 11 am, and although I guess I should have realized that, I was disappointed that we couldn't order off the brunch menu. The food was good – we had the omelette, the baked eggs, and the pancakes – but the service was variable. They were very attentive at the beginning, and then forgot about us for a while. All in all, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.

  2. (Came here on 11/26/2015)

Came here with a few friends for a nice reunion lunch; Left thinking this experience was really not memorable and very mediocre.

The bread at this place really needs to be replaced. The free bread and the bread that accompanies meals taste like stale bread crumbs from a neglected loaf of bread on some discounted aisle in wall mart.

We started with calamari and a cold mixture of lobster, fish and scallops. The calamari was standard and the cold mixture of fish was weird but both in combination was okay (no major critiques).

For our mains we got chicken parmesan, squid ink linguini and the pappardelle al forno. The squid ink linguini was pretty good but was on the salty side. The Pappardelle Al Forno was pitiful; The sauce overpowered any flavor of the produce and seasoning and was beyond beyond salty. The chicken parmesan was a slab of chicken next to some pasta and was very mediocre.

Overall, the experience wasn't very bad or good…regardless it isn't worth a second visit.

  3. Quick summary: restaurant with decent food, but great service.

I brought a group of 8 for dinner here for restaurant week. The food portions were slimmed down for restaurant week, but the food was good. Everyone was satisfied.

This is a clubby italian restaurant. They were playing top 40, club music during our dinner. The waiter was very attentive, and when I left my credit card at the restaurant they held onto it so that we could come back to get it.

Overall, decent food and experience (there are tons of more traditional italian fare options, that are not clubby), but really solid service.

  4. AWESOME experience here. Went for the first time with a group of 5 (we originally thought 6 were coming). Sometimes restaurants make you wait for everyone to be seated but not here thank god because the 6th never showed and we would have been stuck waiting. Super accommodating hostess crew, smiling and greeting us. Really solid good Italian food. We got a few pizzas. Lots of good drinks as well and a good wine selection by the bottle or glass. We ended up staying until around 11 and had a blast with good service and food. Thank you we will be back!

  5. Great lunch spot near my office with a hip decor.  Never crowded so I am here often.  I've tried the eggplant ravioli and the paparradelle, both were delicious but the paparradelle is definitely to share.  The chopped salad was nice but the ham chunks were annoying.  They make fabulous cappuccinos.

  6. I came here for a drink with a few friends of mine. The servers were very nice and had a lot of knowledge but came on a little strong. My drink was over priced and a bit too sweet for my liking. I was not entirely impressed nor completely disappointed but based on my limited time here, I probably wouldn't come back.

  7. I went here this afternoon to scout out the private dining space for a work event, and my boss liked it enough to send me back to try out the food. Dinner on my business card? I think I can do that.

So, the space is really beautiful. Feels high end but not stuffy or pretentious. The manager or owner recognized me from coming in during the afternoon and made sure we enjoyed our time. We had a glass lf chianti and a sauvignon blanc to start and they were well poured and good wines. We decided to split the black truffle and prosciutto pizza with a farmer egg and changed it to whole wheat crust for an appetizer. Amazing. The truffle taste was insane. Favorite thing of the night, hands down.

For an entreé we both had pappardelle — he had the special with a lighter sauce, fresh tomatoes and lobster. I had it with bechamel and veal bolognese. Both were good, but the lobster special was amazing. Not sure I would get the regular pappardele again. It reminded me of a fancy deconstructed lasagna.

For dessert we had the tiramisu and the affogato. I could have used a little more espresso on the affogato, which was basically just gelato. But it wasn't bad.

The wait staff and bussers were wonderful, attentive and polite. And the atmosphere put me at ease, u like most places on a summery Friday night in NYC that give me claustrophobia or an anxiety attack.

  8. We came here for a special occasion with a fairly large group of people and the service was great and the food was very good too. I wouldn't say the food was excellent but it also wasn't disappointing. The bar after dinner was a lot of fun and the bartenders were attentive. Asellina has a romantic vibe too it but its way too big to be considered intimate.
