  1. Yes, the bagels are very, very good. The whitefish salad is excellent. I just can't justify the absurdly high prices for what is passably good at the bagel place down the street, despite my love of both food and fancy things. If you're going to go (which means you have more cash to burn than I do, and I'm jelly) the everything 2.0 is excellent and super fennel-y, and pairs great with the whitefish salad and any smoked fish. I pay rent so will continue to indulge my love for carbs and smoked fish at La Bagel Delight.

  2. Tip: If it is nice out, and there are a million tourists lined up in front of the door to be seated, SKIP the LINE and head to the take out counter which is to the right of the restaurant when you walk in. You can order pretty much all the essentials and not have to deal with a wait…

I love their salmon salad and whitefish salad. I usually get a bagel with one of those and  tomato, cucumber, onion & capers – YUMMY.

Their bagels are freshly made in house which gives them a great taste.

SKIP THE LINE – GO TO THE TAKEOUT COUNTER 🙂

  3. Stopped in for brunch with the family on Saturday morning.  Make a reservation, or you'll be stuck waiting for quite some time on the weekends. We arrived early (around 9:30am) and there were already people waiting.

We ordered the fish tower and some other side items. Everything was fresh and beautifully plated. While the food was delicious, it was quite pricey.

The service was en pointe and the decor is quaint. I'd suggest it for special occasions, but not a regular weekend brunch.

  4. Let's talk about perfection for a minute. Very few times in a lifetime will you encounter perfection in food. Usually you find them in the simple pleasures of life or by someone who totally believes in their craft. The bagel and lox at Sadelles is just that…perfection.

Despite the poor score on Yelp, this place came highly recommended to me by multiple friends in NYC so I had to make a stop. I'm trying to figure out why this place ranks so low, maybe the high price point for fish or how it's conceptually different than most bagel/lox favorites in NYC. Regardless, I thought the food was superior to any other I've had in this amazing city.

My buddy and I ordered the two types of lox: Scottish smoked and Atlantic cured. They were both amazing in their own right and completely different in texture and flavor. The Scottish being saltier and smokey, while the Atlantic was fattier and delicate. The house made bagels were so proper it hurts. I had one of the everything bagels and made two different open faced sandwiches to properly explore both fishes. Heaven.

Go here. Be patient. It's way better than you would think based on previous reviews. Boom.

  5. Love the take-out stand. No waiting, excellent bagels and lox sandwich, amazing chocolate babka. Eventually I'll do the sit-down brunch.

  6. My family and I went to Sadelle's after longing to go for forever last Sunday! We couldn't get a reservation, but got a response via email that we could walk in and wait. We did just that and waited 2 hours until we were seated…if not a little longer.

My suggestion is to stay nearby, as you don't want them to either forget you or for other's to be taken ahead of you. I noticed that other people before us were being seated (same size party) until finally the hostess caught on that I noticed her seating a party that hadn't been waiting nearly as long as we had.

We sat upstairs, which was really nice because we were able to get our own table and not have to sit in the communal seating area next to everyone else. There were a lot of celebrities there that day, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Nikki Hilton, so I am not sure if this screwed up our service, but we didn't have the best service to be frank.

We were seated and immediately greeted; however, our server's iPhone (they place everyone's orders via iPhone) was not working properly and he disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Following that, he returned and forgot our drink order and apologized and said he would be back with it after we placed our order. Those drinks never ended up coming until mid-way through our meal, and our server was nowhere to be found!!

    Anyway,

You CANNOT go to Sadelle's without ordering their infamous French Toast. By far the BEST french toast i've ever had in my life. We ended up getting two!! Beyond delicious, and i would go back there just for that alone! Get extra maple syrup on the side…you will not regret it! 😉

We ordered their Salmon Platter…little did we know it only comes with ONE bagel…so keep that in mind…i'm sure you can get more for an additional cost. Their bagels are mediocre…I've definitely had better bagels than Sadelle's…especially in NYC.

My sister has been here multiple times, and time and time again she gets their Mediterranean Salad that was delicious (for a healthier choice). Their salad portions are quite large, so you're definitely able to share this with another person if not overly starving.

This place is definitely a scene and experience…would I wait again? Maybe…but I am glad I tried it!

  7. A few months ago, we were walking around SOHO and my daughter decided that she needed to use the bathroom…..NOW! I looked for the nearest, clean restaurant and there was Sadelle's. As I walked through the restaurant, I saw towers and towers of delicious looking smoked fish. When we came out of the bathroom, the hubby and I decided that on the first kid free day, we would come to Sadelle's.

Well that day has come! We thought we would try to come on a weekend, but that was out of the question. It is impossible to get in without a reservation and you can't make a reservation on short notice. We ended up going during the week for brunch.

When we arrived, we were quickly shown to a table near the back. The restaurant is beautiful, with skylights throughout the building. Our waiter was great and made some really terrific recommendations.

    We had:

    – 2 tier tower of scotch salmon, sturgeon and fresh vegetables

    – salt and pepper bagel

    – everything bagel

    – challah bread toast

    – coffee

Everything was terrific! The vegetables were super fresh and sprinkled with dill. The capers were delicious and not too salty. The cream cheese was great (regular and scallion). The bagels are made by hand in the restaurant. The jelly for the challah bread toast tasted freshly made.

All in all a great dining experience!

  8. We had an excellent brunch experience at Sadelle's!
To start with, the place is beautiful!! We were luckily seated right next to the bagel bakery that has clear Windows for you to observe the baker make the bagels, from boiling them to baking them to placing them on sticks to be delivered directly onto the tables! Excellent!!
We were 4 of us, and I am glad my friend dissuaded me from ordering a salad. She said we came here for the tower! Our tower for 4 was a gorgeous display of lox, white fish salad, salmon salad, saddle fish, sturgeon and tomato and cucumber slices with capers and dill! A gorgeous display of delicate super brunch food!! The tower comes with whipped plain cream cheese, scallion whipped cream cheese and bagels (plain, sesame, poppy, everything, and gluten free in needed +$2 for the gluten free!).
For dessert, if you believe we were still hungry for it… We shared a slice of the decadent chocolate bakba (covered with a chocolate sauce) and a sticky bun!! Both were amazingly sweet, salty, buttery, and fluffy!
Our waiter was Mitchell and he was fantastic!

Our experience was amazing from the food to the service to a beautiful time spent with friends!

The place get really packed during the weekend, make sure you have a reservation.
