  1. Ordered from here the other night and I was me disappointed! The food was nice and hot when I got it and it came within 15 minutes. Also, the establishment gave you your money's worth in food.

I got the baby bok choy withy brown rice and I loved it. The bok choy was extremely fresh and it was seasoned just the right amount. I definitely will be ordering from here more often! Great food, fast delivery, and prices that won't completely break the budget.

  2. Anytime I'm craving Chinese food while I'm home I always order from here. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants on the lower east side for sure. One of the few that are rated an A as well. I order over three times a month the delivery guy comes to my door and always says 'hello friend'. I've experienced some very rude delivery men and bad phone service from restaurants but the staff here is very nice all the time.

The best things on the menu personally is the chicken wings, sautéed broccoli, and their fried tofu with broccoli.

If you live in the LES order from them!!

  3. Yes, I am reviewing this delicious MSG chinese place, as I like to call it. Nothing like a chicken and broccoli on a rainy day or just a lazy day. Always quick and always delicious, prices are right, even if you're not ordering lunch special.

Yes, I am that lazy girl who orders delivery form a place that is down the block from where I live and yes, i will order enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all at once. The food is good here and consistently so.

It's your typical chinese takeout that you can count on to always be good.

  4. Maybe I just picked the wrong thing to eat here, but didn't find it good at all.

I got the Kung Pao Chicken. The chicken tasted fine but everything else was boring. The peanuts weren't crunchy at all. The corn was watery – obviously canned.

  5. By far the best Chinese fast food I've tasted. I love their eggplant w/ chicken in garlic sauce. No other place makes it better than this place. cheap and fast!

  6. While they serve the most tender General Tso's I've ever had, it's also bland. I uploaded a photo, it even looks bland. It doesn't help that their sauce is watery and pools at the bottom of the container without really coating the chicken.

    Egg roll was similarly meh.

The shrimp lo mein was downright gross.

  7. The next time a fortune teller beckons you, whip out your smartphone and flash her your Yelp App. Seriously, who needs to commune with crystal balls and the dead when consulting the living can point you in the direction of great eats?

My trusty Yelp app signaled to me two months ago that this dive was the place to go for amazing Americanized Chinese food and I was silly enough be put off by the crowd at lunchtime. Finally, I had the chance to go this week. The quest for extraordinary shrimp with broccoli was over. I found my place! The shrimp was perfectly cooked, tender but with slightly crispy exterior that comes when seafood gets velveted and then flash fried. This cook rocks.  And the broccoli. Oh me oh my. My gauge for a good shrimp with broccoli is actually the vegetable and the sauce. Both were exquisite. Each bite yielded broccoli so crispy, so crunchy, I considered kidnapping the cook and shackling him in my kitchen. And the sauce for all this was a garlicky, sweetish brown sauce that was so delicious I came back the next day and ordered a large size of this dish. If kids could be served broccoli this good, they would stop eating French fries. I also had the hot and sour soup, loaded with button mushrooms and a good portion of tofu. It was good for a Cantonese place, and better than from some fancier Szechuan places I've patronized. I've already referred Golden Forest to friends and family.

A tip-if you live nearby or it's warmer, take your food to go. The ambience is nil here but the food is so good it merited five stars anyway. There is a station for water(a nice thing for the restaurant to provide) with cups for self service, but resting next to the table, when I went the second time, was a dirty metal ladder and a mop! If that doesn't bother you, sit and chow down.  The second time I went, I brought the food home for dinner. The broccoli was not as crispy, but it was still lip smacking good. I plan to frequent this find and try many, many other dishes.

  8. Stopped by here for a midnight snack. Looking at the menu I was craving for some fried chicken with French fries! Oh boy did that satisfy my craving! I slept like a baby.
