  1. We came here after visiting Brooklyn Tabernacle one Sunday afternoon. The food came out fast, but was very underwhelming. I ordered the french toast, with eggs and a side of ham. My sister ordered silver dollar pancakes, and my father ordered a spinach and feta omelette.

The omelette tasted like feta was the only flavor they used to season the eggs. The french toast was very bland, and the ham on the side was really two slices of processed deli meat that was charred on the grill. My sister received 20+ tiny pancakes, varying in all shapes and sizes, and plopped on a plate.

The weird thing to me were the coffees. The unflavored coffees were bottomless. Flavored coffee wasn't. Whatever. BUT they gave us two cups of unflavored coffee, and one little pot of flavored syrup…… so why not just sell the syrup on the side and let me order bottomless coffee? *rolls eyes*.

With all of the amazing potential NYC has for brunch spots, I think I may have to pass on coming back.

  2. I had the BBQ salmon salad and French fries with a friend here as we grabbed a quick bite before shopping in Fulton mall. It is a typical diner with typical diner food. The servers were friendly and accommodating. We had a slice of carrot cake for dessert that was okay. No wow factor but I do have to say the salmon was very good and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the barbecue sauce on it as well which I have never paired together myself but worked in this. I also enjoyed the salad since it had these green leaves I can't remember the name of that look similar to watercress and are very good for you. If I was around the area I would come back for a quick bite.

  3. This joint was located just a couple blocks away from my 2nd year legal internship with the NYCTA.  Only went once, and it was the morning before the MPRE (shot for multi-state professional responsibility exam) at Brooklyn Law School.  As a first time test taker for that particular exam, I poo poo-ed it… passed it the second time a couple months later at Columbia (but that's beside the point).

I remember that public transportation that day (November 4, 2012) was at a standstill, as we were still in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.  This necessitated a commute, by bike, to downtown Brooklyn, early morning on the day of the exam. A combination of an earlier than expected wake up time and hasty bi-pedal locomotion on my cycle resulted in an overy punctual arrival to the test taking site.

As I had neglected to have breakfast prior to my arrival, and seeing as how I had around an hour to kill, I decided to stop by this place since it was one of the only local establishments that was open at the time (7:30 a.m. if I recall correctly).

Hash and eggs (sunny side up), with un-buttered whole wheat toast was my selection that morning.  The yolks were nice and golden, with the whites firm but not overcooked.  I always appreciate the correct cooking of a sunny side up egg, as I so rarely see well executed ones (unless I cook them, of course.  Don't believe me?  Check out my IG: anatanokokoro).

Needless to say, the meal was tasty and at a bargain price… had I passed my test that morning, I'd have given all the credit to the balanced breakfast afforded to me by this place.  Since I did not pass, I blame Superstorm Sandy for closing down my school the week prior to the exam, which disallowed me from accessing the study materials I left in my locker.

  4. This is a dinner. The menu has the usual sorts of dinner food. Open face sandwiches, pastrami, burgers, pasta etc.

Open well lit space with the usual banquettes along the wall. The service is quick and the food was perfectly fine for a quick brunch, dinner or lunch without the wait. Simple as that.

  5. Each time I come here I have an amazingly large & delicious meal! The food always comes fast & it's very fresh. I usually come for breakfast with my boyfriend and we've never had to wait to be seated. The waiters are so attentive, your drinks are never empty & they make sure you have everything you need.

Breakfast food is probably what this place does best – the omelettes are what I usually get – and they come out in less than 10 minutes each time. I've also tried the pancakes which were good but as sad as it sounds IHOP holds a special place in my

  6. Definitely a decent diner with good seating, atmosphere, bathrooms and menu.  Service is pretty good and it's right near Kings Civil court.  Works for a quick lunch and they'd likely let you charge your phone if you've got an iPhone.

  7. I met an elderly lady here 5 years ago a few days before Mother's Day, i returned this year a few days before Mother's Day and ate breakfast again. As i finished my meal she enters and I call her name and we laugh.. We have been in contact for 5 years via the phone and I never saw her again after that. I would say it was divine intervention that id run into her by chance, i was able to bless her with a meal back then and recently.. I enjoyed a cup of tea while she ate.

The food here is expensive to most but i think its about right. I enjoyed my food and I love to sit and look out the window and people watch.

Do not go here around the lunch hour because all the Courts are on lunch and they will rush you to eat to get the seat.

  8. I love me a little divey diner. I use to work in this area and knew this place was just what I was looking for at the early hours of the morning after a bender! It's just that super cheap and guilty pleasure the stomach craves. I am not a party animal but when I do stay out past my bedtime this is the cure.

There was plenty of seating the first time I went. I did happen to go at the crack of dawn. The breakfast special number three is the route I like. Juice, potatoes, 2 eggs (over medium for this chica), toast (rye is what I want) and a good 'ol cup of coffee. I got plenty of refills. And the cream comes in those tiny little containers. It may not be the best coffee ever or the organic/local route but sometimes you have to get real and get back to your roots.

Warning: I came here recently and when church was out the place got bananas and there was even a line forming. I would suggest coming here not during the church breaks.
