I am obsessed with their Greek grilled chicken salad. Seriously, we are in love.
Don't get their wraps – they aren't rolled well and fall apart. So basically they completely suck.
Their burgers are good – how can you eff those up?
I came here over the weekend with my straight-up Greek family for a casual brunch. Everything met our expectations, but didn't exceed them.
My dad got really excited when he realized we were in a Greek establishment, and proceeded to strike up a 10-minute conversation with the owner while we waited for our food – safe to say, he had a great time.
My mom and I each ordered the eggs florentine, and could easily have split one order – there was a ton of food! My only complaint was that the hash browns were of the shredded-potato variety and were a bit bland and under-seasoned. I prefer the cubed, well-cooked variety, with extra flavor, ya know whadda mean?!
Overall, we ate well and ate a lot, and the prices were fair. It's around the corner from my apartment so I'll probably end up here again, but I wouldn't make it a destination spot.
Across from my first NYC apartment in Stuyvesant Town is an old fashioned Greek Diner, the kind that is rare in Manhattan. I would have thought I was in Jersey or Brooklyn with the wonderful breakfasts, and burger specials. The breakfast was one of the better breakfasts you will find in Manhattan with wonderfully prepared eggs, and large portions of hash browns similar to Junior's Times Square at about half the price. Orange juice was fresh, and coffee was wonderful. However the cheeseburger special with fries, and a Cherry Coke was worthy of All-Madden status. The bargain prices, and friendly service earned them four stars from me. I know that I will become a regular! I have always loved the family atmosphere in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. In the midst of the high heat, and humidity on Labor Day the restaurant was very clean with powerful air conditioning! They even had some Hoya regulars who recognized me–I could not ask for more!
It's diner food, nothing fancy but OK in a pinch. It is expensive for what you are getting and the burger is not great.
Iron man brunch with mimosa, melon, toast. Nothing special in the food department, but quick service and decent prices. The let you take a booth even if you are by yourself or with 1 other person
Simple food, that's all. No fancy breads, cheeses, meats, or fresh baked anything. Sometimes it's just what you need.
My roommates and I come here often enough since we live close by. It's a great place to go when you want someone else to make that omelet or grilled cheese you are perfectly capable of making yourself. Portions are generous. I can rarely finish my food here.
I can't rave about any of the food here because it's really not anything to write home over. The service is ok enough, which is why I give only three stars–of all my visits here, only one time I actually got up and left. It was that day the city shut down for the 1 inch blizzard de Blasio warned us about, and the diner was the only place open. After being seated, we waited for someone to come take our order. And we waited. And waited. And then some kids who came in a good 15 minutes after us ordered from our server. I stared at the server in disbelief. I was so hungry and annoyed I didn't even close my menu and push my chair back in, we just left.
Other than that, this place is open late, 24 hours on the weekends, and has a huge menu. Get anything you are craving, drunk or sober.
We ate dinner there tonight and everything was fine. I had the Stuyvesant omelet – and although I was initially concerned that a two-egg omelet wouldn't be enough, it actually was. The toast was very plain, but the omelet and hash browns were very tasty. The service was pleasant, and *for once* we ate at a place where water was proffered at regular intervals. Prices were on the high side, but not outrageous – and the menu was extensive (typical Greek diner fare). My husband's Havana wrap was delicious and *huge*, plus it came with delicious homemade cole slaw.
I walked in here with a few friends after a Rocks Off Disco Boat, because we weren't done hanging out and this was the only place open nearby. I asked the waiter if we could still order beer; he said we had 6 minutes. Why they stop serving beer at 3:30am instead of 4am is beyond me, but he let us order 12 beers at once between 5 of us so who am I to complain? We snacked on mozz sticks and a plate of bacon and just hung out for a couple hours drinking our beers. That's exactly what a 24 hour diner should be about. I can't tell you if the food is good – the bacon was bacon, the beer was cold, and who cares about the rest.
