  1. I came here the other night when I was waiting for the GF to come home, have always wanted to try it and it was 11:30 so it was a great time to get breaky.

I had the greek omlete and added gyro meat. the omlete was cooked perfect for me and the home fries were crispy which was a bonus, and an egg cream and I was pretty happy.

  2. A stranger paid my bill at Neptune's this afternoon, which I think speaks volumes about the caliber of customers this establishment attracts, as well as the staff they employ, who knew this good samaritan to be a regular here.

I came to Neptune's on a Saturday at around 12:30, and it was busy but not packed. It's a very large space in contrast to the tiny diners I'm used to frequenting in Astoria, which was a nice change of scene.

I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted and served water. The staff was friendly and attentive, and even though I was just one solo person eating here I didn't feel undervalued.

I ordered the hot open turkey sandwich, which came with a potato (I chose mashed) a vegetable (I chose their mixed vegetable medley) and a soup or salad (I got their chicken and rice soup) for a mere 13 bucks and change.

A hot open turkey sandwich is my go-to at diners, and I've had this dish at just about every diner in Astoria. Hands down, this was the best one I have ever eaten. The turkey was fresh and moist and not dried out, and their gravy was flavorful and not too salty. The mashed potatoes were creamy and fresh, and the vegetable medley wasn't just the bag of mixed frozen veggies you'd expect but rather included fresh cauliflower, carrots and string beans.

As I mentioned before, when I asked for the check I found that my bill had been paid by a man who had been sitting behind me with his son. I've been on my own for quite some time now, and having someone else take care of me in this very unexpected way was truly refreshing — especially coming from someone who didn't even want to be identified for their kind action.

I will most definitely be coming back to Neptune's for their food and hospitality — and in hopes of running into the Neptune's regular who paid my bill to say thank you.

  3. I usually come for breakfast and order their Greek salad for lunch to go which I love.  Service is always on point and attentive . Will be trying out their dinner menu soon.
I've been to many diners and this is by far the best in cleanliness as well.

  4. I've only been here twice for breakfast, but I have to say it's a great diner. They have a large variety of breakfast items you can chose from and everything is very affordable. I came here with my mom and brother and all of three of us had a filling breakfast for under $25. They have a small parking area which is very convenient and if you don't drive, they are located right under the N train station! They are also open 24 hours which is amazing! Definitely would recommend everyone stop by this place!

  5. I knew about this place for years, but never had a chance to go there. I am often excited to try new place, and I was the same way on Presidents Day. The painting of Neptune on the menu seemed be welcoming me.

I liked Greek Specialty menu. I like Greek spinach pie, but I ordered Lasagna looking food called Pastitsio this time. The difference from Lasagna is type of pasta. Long Macaroni look like pasta is used for Pastitsio. It came with Greek Salad. I liked these combination. My boyfriend asked if they can make Turkey Reuben although it was not on menu. They made it for him. That was nice.

The service wasn't that good. I ordered standard coffee and my BF ordered decaf coffee. The waiter pored more coffee to my cup, but my BF's decaf was ignored. They didn't come to take order for a while and they forgot to give us a check.

  6. After a late night out, when all the cards are down, all hope lost, when you drank all your self-dignity away in the midst of Queens, Neptune Diner is there to accept you and your wasted friends, feed you some cozy veggie omelettes and delicious syrupy French toast til you can't breathe anymore, and send you home on your way to sober up.

Self-loathing thy name is Neptune Diner.

  7. Great food everytime I come here. Fast, friendly service. Last week I ordered the lox and onions omelete with swiss cheese added. The omelete was so big I barely put a dent in it. I have yet to try anything on the lunch menu so I can only speak on breakfast. If your in the mood for good breakfast at a reasonable price then I would recommened this one.

  8. This place is seriously an institution.  My friend was in town and had an early morning flight out of JFK.  He felt like hanging out in a diner and drinking coffee and eating cake.  So that's what we did!

But Neptune is so much more than just coffee and pie. Their Greek specialties are off the hook.  Breakfasts are the bomb.  Never had their burger, but clearly I've heard that is my loss.

It's right off the N train in Astoria, and you have great views of the Triboro Bridge.  Diners in NYC are a dime a dozen, but this place is a must visit.
