  1. Cozy coffee spot in the basement of a historic row house.

    Our order

    Coffee – perfect

    Latte – perfect

Ricotta Toast – Delicious, but not what we expected. Think cannoli filling spread over two pieces of sourdough, topped with fresh berries and dusted with powdered sugar. Yum.

Yogurt Parfait – Ehh, with all the other delicious looking food choices available, probably wouldn't order it again. The pre-made parfait left me craving a little crunch. Ya know, soggy granola. Ugh.

    Staff – very friendly

  2. Cannot believe it took me so long to pop in, but I hardly go out around here unless its strictly business!

Definitely my new go-to for a pick-me-up, for its all-around charming ambience.

I had a matcha latte (inspired by good reviews) and a bite of my friend's chicken jambalaya — deeelightful.

  3. Nice little neighborhood coffee shop. The drip is excellent and I enjoyed my ham and cheese on a toasted bagel. Unfortunately, the almond croissant I had was awful – soggy in places and dry and others – it must have been from the previous day, as I visited first thing in the morning. Anyway, friendly service, reasonable prices (and a REALLY nice bathroom) and great coffee!

  4. Chocolate chip walnut cookie is delicious. If there's one thing I come back for, this would be it.

Chai latte is pretty good; light and flavorful. One of the gals here really enjoyed the matcha latte so I'll have to try it next.

Regular coffee is just.. Regular. I still stand by deli coffee, unfortunately.

Still, it's a pretty chill place to catch up/hangout in.. Good vibes from the baristas.

  5. very good again!
their matcha latte made me excited but at the same time helped me to relax.
great atmosphere for taking a rest.
    worth to visit.

  6. Sugar Hill Cafe JUST opened up a couple blocks from my house – and I could not be more thankful! It is a small location, in the "basement" of a brownstone that boasts great music and great roasts! (I'm a poet and didn't even know it!)

Blame my lyrical misadventures on the caffeine overload and euphoria from my quick conversation with the manager here – he assured me they would be offering vegan fare once the kitchen is up and running! WOO! Everything is coming up, Harlem! (Moving on from rhyming and onto pop culture references…)

Anyway! Getting on to the seitan and potatoes (because meat is gross), the location's decor is pretty much a carbon copy of the cafe on Broadway and 148 that shall remain nameless – to the point where I think it may be owned by the same people? Their free internet is pretty fly for a WiFi! (Back to rhyming…) Fast, easy to log onto and no WiFi code needed (unlike other nearby cafes.)

They have a great, albeit small selection of tea and great coffee roast! I will update this once the kitchen is up and running and I have had a chance to gorge myself into an early grave.

  7. I love this place. Modern with great energy, but small enough in size that it still touts a quaint vibe. The coffee was wonderful (I just had a latte and my friend had espresso), and I really enjoyed sitting at our little table with coffee and a parfait as the morning passed. This place is bright and cheerful and is perfect for mornings, study sessions, or coffee dates. Really wonderful.

Another review on here says they give you a free cookie if you give them a 5-star rating on Yelp. I think that's shady, but let it be known my 5-star review came without this knowledge!
