  1. Good old diners! Best spot at any time of day and night!  Perfect for a small bite before calling a Saturday night complete. Love the ham and cheese grilled sandwich. Waitress was so friendly. Mind you this was past midnight. Many places their waitstaff is cranky at that tine lol

  2. Good place to go if early for flight at LaGuardia. Big menu selection. Good service. Typical good NY Dinner food. Specials are always a litter better then good. Ownership pays attention and keeps everything moving.

  3. Thank you Mr. Costas for your reply. Yes, I did voice my disatisfaction and was only given an apology that the meals were not to our liking and that our feedback would be passed along to management.

  4. Pretty standard diner.  Their fried chicken dinner is pretty generous and tasty.  They have good drinks.  Clam chowder wasn't what I was expecting because it wasn't creamy.  Fried calamari tasted smooth and fresh and their baked clams were out of this world!

  5. Diner food is Diner food. The French fries are great! The girls and i had Chicken wraps. I opted for a :Fajita Chicken Wrap"(grilled chicken, onion peppers, tomatoes and lettuce)and the girls ordered "Honey Mustard Chicken Wraps"(grilled chicken, lettuce tomato honey mustard). Mines was OK nothing really special didn't taste any sauce. The girls liked theirs. One thing though they make great Smoothies/Milkshakes. I'd go again if in the area, why not.

  6. It's been quite a while since I've been here In the past it was usually after a long night.
Stopped by this past weekend we had a large group of 20 people it was a last minute decision they were able to accommodate everyone comfortably.
They start u off with some Bread not too bad bread was warm.
Lots of stuff was ordered can't say much about everyone else's food except for the few I tried, Bacon cheese burger wasn't that great taste wise.
Good Stuffed shrimp with a Caesar salad , the salad was alright odd dressing & the croutons were not that good.
Good Chicken fingers & Waffle fries were pretty good.
I had the Steak Bistro salad , decent size salad it was alright, steak lacked flavor the vinaigrette dressing helped.
Over all service is a bit slow , prices are reasonable for diner food in the end large group & everything ran smoothly so not too bad.

  7. Arrrgh! The name just reminds me of the rocking pirate ship ride at Coney Island!  Maybe it's their 70's kitschy decor that appeals to the Brady Bunch generation.  They opened in 1976 and has not been updated very much since.  The jukeboxes on the walls of the booths still accept quarters.  Their food and service are still as consistent as ever and their prices are just as affordable over other Queens diners that have gone more upscale.  If you want a nice home-made meal in a convenient location, the Buccaneer is pretty solid.  We only found it when we were coming from LaGuardia and ended up on Astoria Blvd when the Grand Central Parkway was jammed and we were hungry for a quick bite.

The daily dinner specials always include a variety of seafood and meat dishes whether fried, broiled or baked.  And most of the dinners come with soup, salad, choice of potato & vegetable and a big ol' basket of bread.  You can't beat $18.95 for a ribeye steak & lobster tail dinner with all the trimmings and is a ridiculous amount of food that comes on multiple plates.  As if that wasn't enough, It even comes with a couple of chopped stuffed clams  The braised beef shortribs are great when it's on the specials board.

For me, a measure of a good diner is if they can do a good beef brisket and theirs is moist and flavorful with a generous portion.  Burgers are a good choice too, especially with the waffle fries.  We'll have to come back to have a proper diner breakfast on the weekend.

  8. After hours of deciding where to have our late night breakfast, we stopped by Buccaneer. The place had a fun atmosphere. I was impressed with their service and we also had fun enjoying the jukebox at our table. The quality and price of the food was on point!! I'd definitely come back!
