Corazon de Cuba

“Coconut mojito was just right and the surf and turf (not on the menu) was really good and perfect for sharing.”

“Some of my favorites are the Vaca Frita, Churassco, and anything they do with their pork is mouth watering good!”

“We hit the Corazon de Cuba food truck down by the boardwalk this Labor Day weekend on a beautiful sunny day and had a Cubano, which was so delicious.”

  1. Amazed by the variety of Latin dishes and drinks! I was shocked to see caipirinha on the cocktail menu AND flavored caipirinhas! Coco caipirinha was awesome as was the mango flavored one. The shrimp empanadas were generously proportioned and tasty.  Ill be back soon!

  2. My fiancé and I heard great things about this place so we figured we would give it a shot.  Nothing wrong with the place I just didn't find the food to be anything more then average.  I had the half chicken and I found it kind of bland.

The place of average in my mind.  I will try again and if it is better I will update the review.

  3. "I'm hungry" "I'm thirsty" "it's hot and sandy"
Long beach is a wonderful place…. But after awhile, you need a break from the elements. What a wonderful lunch break this was.
Located right by the LIRR,and a short walk from the beach, this little Cuban gem was exactly what we needed.
    Cold Beers
Coconut shrimp, my favorite thing ever
    Temperature Control
Everything we ordered was delicious, but in my opinion the best thing was a cheese sandwich. That's right….. It's literally just fried cheese, avocado and red onions wih chipotle mayo…. Throw some maduros on there
Only small, slight complaint… Service was a bit slow. We really wanted more a quick lunch than back to the beach.

Highly recommend before, after or during a day/night in LB.

  4. Been back a few times since my initial review. Every meal seems to be better than the previous.

Most recently I had a Jalapeño mojito that was tasty and balanced, could've muddled the jalapeño a little better to infuse the spiciness into the drink more.  Also had a very good Malbec for $9.

We had a delicious Clams con chorizo appetizer, a nice portion of seafood salad Long Beach salpicon, awesome empanadas, and a perfect Vaca Frita.  My wife had a skirt steak special with calamari, shrimp, and a garlic sauce that was also very good.

If you love food, menu is priced in a way that kinda forces you to spend money.  Because you'll want everything.  And everything is delicious.  So knock yourself out.

  5. Thankfully I came her for a friend's celebration and enjoyed every minute. Small spot, maybe too small for a party but we made it work.

I enjoyed the empanadas and I enjoyed a wonderful steak! I was envious of the Vieja Ropa which looked delicious or was it maybe because it looked so big and I was being greedy????? Nevertheless, the staff was very nice including the owner who came out and greeted us. One negative was the flan was pretty bad…..it tasted very much like refrigerator!!! Everything else was good and I'll be back here for sure.

  6. Not sure if I'm being a bit generous by rating this restaurant 3 out of 5 stars.  Given how unfamiliar we are with Long Beach, my significant other and I searched for a place to eat on Yelp and stumbled upon Corazon de Cuba.  Judging by reviews, the crowd that filled the restaurant and the noise generated by this crowd, we thought we may have landed on a gem.  We waited a while to be seated, but it was understandable because this place was THAT busy.  Three tables adjacent to each other were cleared almost simultaneously and 2 couples were seated first, with us subsequently occupying the empty table between them.

Menu arrives and it didn't take long to decide what we wanted.  We ordered the ceviche mixto and roasted chicken with yellow rice and beans.  For someone who was craving rice and beans, I was pretty darn excited, but if I was informed ahead of time that it will take AN HOUR, I would've chosen another restaurant.  Yes, along with the couples beside us, we each waited ONE WHOLE HOUR for our food … which is unnecessary for ceviche and roasted chicken.  Due to starvation, we finally started losing a bit of our patience and asked a poor waiter who was running around all night serving customers where our food was.  He kindly apologized and offered us complimentary drinks for the hour wait.  Shortly after, the food finally came.  I was hoping that the food would justify the wait, but what constituted the ceviche was overly cooked shrimp and minimal seafood.  The chicken and rice and the complimentary Cuban coffee I requested were decent, but this place wouldn't have earned itself 3 stars if it wasn't for our waiter, who was genuinely nice and concerned with customer satisfaction.

There is no reason to have customers waiting over an hour for food that should've taken only 30 minutes to make, tops, on a busy day.  We shared our thoughts with a couple next to us and they agreed that the food wasn't worth the hour wait.  I highly doubt that we will return again.

  7. This place was great.  I loved the atmosphere. It had a nice trendy atmosphere.  I Had a chicken breast that marinated in a delicious sautéed and a side dish of vegetables. The drink menu is great.  A great selection of cocktails.

  8. As much as it may pain the effusively proud residents of this provincial beach town just outside NYC limits to admit it, Long Beach NY is, and for as long as I have known, essentially a wasteland where good food is concerned.  Bar food, and strictly average versions of the type at that is the norm, particularly in the West End neighborhood, where Frat boys and the women who love them seemingly move to after graduation and continue to carry on in the manner they became accustomed to in their college years before settling down and breeding.
I'd heard good things here but the historical level of cuisine in Long Beach had me skeptical.  I am happy to report however that this place is a wonderful exception to the rule.  The Cuban cuisine here is deliciously on-point, dare I say excellent enough to pass muster by even Miami and or Key West standards!  Lechon Asado was succulent and savory.  Empanadas were perfectly fried, with juicy most chicken or perfectly seasoned ground beed bursting out of the crunchy and flaky fried crust that contained them.  The Cuban Classic Ropa Vieja was a paradigm of the dish, brilliantly conjuring both the essences of sweet and savory.  Paella Espanola, which I was not aware was a Cuban Dish was nonetheless likewise delicious, tasting properly of the sea.
I have taken hard to please business associates here on working meals and even the most jaded of professionals professed nothing but culinary delight.  This fact is profound to me seeing how in years past when the situation of organizing a work meal when in the area would present itself my default move would be to leave the city limits ASAP!
