This place is worth the hype! Thank you Good Morning America; this little gem was in my backyard!
Bought six donuts to try: almond joy, maple bacon, rainbow, red velvet, s'mores and cannoli!! They were all delicious, however the maple bacon and rainbow were my favorite!!
Will be back to try a donut tower!
Glaze Donut is by far the best donut shop in my neighborhood. Their fresh variety of donuts are so unique and tasty that choosing becomes a task. I usually go for a box of 6 different donuts and an iced coffee to wash it down. My favorite is their rainbow donut. It is so big that I can only eat a half in one sitting.
Whaddya do when you have a sweet tooth? Simply open Yelp and do a quick "bakery" search. It brought me to this discovery- GLAZE DONUTS!
I looked at all of these amazing pictures and I was super excited for these delicious looking masterpieces- and 5 minutes from my BFS? WINNER!!
We arrived around 4pm on Saturday. There was a line but it moved pretty fast. Got a dozen donuts for $24.00. They are around $2.50- $4.50 each depending on the kind of donut. They also have a coffee/tea station and a menu on the wall that includes lunch sandwiches.
We got the following: (look at the picture below from top to bottom). I pretty much cut off a small piece of the donuts that appealed to me the most so I can try each of them without eating 5 full donuts! Here is a list of the donuts we purchased and my individual reviews of the ones I tried:
3 Boston cream: (didn't try)
Blueberry cheesecake: This one I enjoyed. The actual donut was very good- not too sweet which I liked, I could subtly taste the blueberry but wish they put more blueberries inside!! The cheesecake frosting on top is delicious.
All chocolate: I'm a chocolate LOVER but this donut just didn't satisfy my chocolate craving. It tasted similar to the all chocolate glazed donut from Dunkin donuts. So, nothing special.
Chocolate cheesecake: the frosting inside is wayyyyy too sweet, only tried a small piece of it and couldn't finish it.
Rainbow cookie: very creative! I like how there is jelly inside. Another one of my favorites.
Canoli donut: yummy! I love how there are pieces of canoli pastry sprinkled on top of the donut. The canoli cream is good inside the donut, I wish there were more CHOCOLATE CHIPS though. There were probably a total of 3 chocolate chips in the frosting inside my donut. Still. Nothing spectacular.
Cinnamon sugar: once again, it tasted like a D&D donut
Glaze: (didn't try)
Jelly glazed: (didn't try)
Napoleon: (didn't try)
Overall, I didn't get the "WOW OMG THESE DONUTS ARE TO DIE FORRRR" reaction I was hoping for and that the rest of the Yelp community has claimed. Meh! Don't get me wrong they have some creative donuts here, but the overall taste of these donuts does not deserve a 5 star rating. Forever searching for the perfect donut 🙂
Best donuts I've ever had. Various artisan varieties like maple bacon, Nutella cronut, and red velvet. They also do egg and cheese in a freshly made-to-order crepe! Always busy because these donuts are exceptional! I'm not usually one for sweets but I find myself craving these every weekend!
We took a food adventure from NYC out to Glaze Donuts for my birthday this year in search of their magical rainbow cookie donuts. The rainbow cookie donut was INCREDIBLE! It was moist and fully of flavor. The proportions of the three layers of cake, raspberry filling, and chocolate cover was perfect for a delicious treat. We also thought the maple bacon donut was exceptional. I also thought the spot was super cute – a little "train stop" next to the tracks with outdoor picnic tables. Go and be merry!
Glaze is a sweet, sweet nightmare for sugar lovers in the area. Their homemade donuts are both creative and delicious, making for a memorable experience that you'll soon want to relive. I tried the cannoli and nutella rocher donuts, which were both as good as they sound. The cannoli donut is dressed with broken bits of cannoli shell, along with the cream filling, and the nutella donut had the rocher in the center.
Others have complained about customer service, but it was fine (and busy) when I went. One guy took the time to explain what a rocher is to me; clearly I'm not quite the candy connoisseur I fancied myself to be.
The coffee was meh, and I imagine their espresso drinks are also meh. Go for the donuts!
I am a die hard rainbow cookie fan, so when I heard of the rainbow cookie donut- I went nuts! My boyfriend and I drove 1 hour to get these suckers and I must say that the drive was not really worth it.
If I had to sum it up, the donuts that we got were good. The cannoli donut was DELICIOUS, while the maple bacon, the glazed donuts, the cheesecake and the rainbow cookie were just good.
I've read some reviews that compare these donuts to Dunkin Donuts and I'll give Glaze Donuts some credit- their dough is better than those of Dunkin.
Overall, this place makes for a "nice" Instagram picture and if you're in the area, why not try them out. However, if you're far and need to go out of your way, I would NOT recommend these.
Another Elite recommended this place to me…
So I decided to bring my sister here for her birthday since she is really into donuts. When we drove up, I could see the excitement in my sisters eyes. She jumped out of the car and ran inside. My sister drooled over the different donuts, while that was happening I told the nice guy who took our order we were going to get 6 donuts. He was very helpful and even hooked my sister up with a birthday donut. Out of the 6, I've tried the Strawberry with Sprinkles which was very good, a classic. The Banana Creme donut was great, not overly banana tasting. The Red Velvet was fan-damn-tastic, and my sister said LOVED the cannoli donut.
I can't wait to go back and try some of their twinkies! As well as risk getting diabetes.
