“Good reasonable food on the Upper East Side.”

“It would def be a lot better if they took credit cards, but hey, I will bring my cash as long as they keep the delish food coming :)”

“And when you're in a diner with nothing to complain about, then I think you're in good shape 🙂

Don't forget to try their sweet potato fries!”

  1. I stopped in here on Saturday with a friend because we were craving milkshakes! The staff was very enthusiastic and made us feel welcome. They took our milkshake order and let us sit at the bar to wait for them. They were ready really fast and pretty good! No complaints here, but I haven't tried their real food yet.

  2. EJ's is a much better than average diner for those that want a solid brunch on the UES.  Similarly to all diners, there are a million choices, but the omelettes are a solid bet to be delicious.

Beware that there is usually a wait during the busy brunch times Saturday and Sunday.  It's worth a short wait.

  3. My boyfriend took day off so we decided to start with breakfast out. Someplace close and someplace good. We chose EJ's  luncheonette as it was both close enough and we've already been there so we knew what to expect.

We got regular coffee and fresh squeezed OJ- take large as it's delicious! Coffee was served in the original EJ's mug which I think it's great.

We shared EJ's special- two eggs any style you want (we got scrambled) with applewood smoked bacon served with home fries. Eggs were a little too overdone for me, bacon was cooked perfectly- was crispy and tasteful.

We added whole wheat bagel with cream cheese to the order and after an hour we left full and happy.

Service was nice – happy to help and patient- it takes me a while in the morning to decide what I want;)

    Good beginning for new day!

  4. Best omelette in the neighborhood! Spinach and feta omelette perfectly cooked. They have very goods salads as well. Best thing is if you opt out of fries they will sub saad instead or fruit. Always great service, only thing that sucks is only cash!

  5. Food: Bad
    Service: Good
    Ambience: Ok

Let me start of by saying the only redeeming quality about this place was the service.
We went on a Saturday the place was packed and seem to be doing thriving business on deliveries too so I was hoping that the food would be good but I was throughly disappointed especially for the price. I ordered a burger and it was dry and flavorless, the regular fries were not impressive the were dry too.
Overall this was a disappointing experience.
Maybe we went on an off day or ordered the wrong thing other people seem to be enjoying their experience.

  6. Super solid luncheonette on the UES.

Sat at the bar, ordered a cheeseburger and got a hot, juicy (kinda greasy) burger in less than 10 minutes. Cooked right, fresh veggies and the option to pay $3 more for a grass-fed, antibiotic free burger made me happy.

Pretty quiet for a 1 PM on a Monday, but it's always nice to find a sliver of quiet in the city, right? I'd come back, their blue plate specials looked pretty killer.

  7. An average diner if you're just looking for a quick bite. They attempt to be like an old school diner, but the menu does not really go with it. This place is CASH ONLY. I've only eaten here because I used to work nearby and it was a quick place for some diner food. The food is a just average, and I did not appreciate the service here. Prepare to get ignored and rushed out of the restaurant. Seating can also be a little tight along the walls, I have sometimes bumped into people while trying to get in my seat. You will not really get your money's worth here. I do like their grandma's chicken noodle soup though.

  8. This is kind of a step higher than a regular diner. Portions are super huge – I'm referring to their jumbo flapjacks. But they sort of lack in flavor. Like something's missing. Oh, and it's cash only.
