Cute little place to go for coffee and dessert. The hot chocolate is very tasty and the dessert crepes are pretty good.
I've eaten lunch here a few times and found the food lacked seasoning each time. Not awful, just a little bland. Cute decor and nice service, though.
I was being realistic when I came here. I wasn't asking for a authentic trip to Paris or anything. I expected a homey, yummy, and affordable lunch but this place fell rather short of that.
First, the croque madame is the frenchman's fancied up version of a ham& cheese. So why is the croque here made with toasted wonder bread? That was a chewy piece of disappointment. Fortunately, it was only $10 and the side salad was good. My buckwheat lamb crepe was good although lacking a bit in uniformity and the asparagus is definitely out of place. The coffees were weak and a bit pricy. $5 for a regular-sized mug of cafe au lait, even in a restaurant, is on the high end.
Service was fine but I noticed there was only one person serving the entire floor? That's a bit much for one person to handle for breakfast/lunch on a Saturday. Its unfortunate and it makes patrons antsy. The interior is very cute though and the pastries looked good. I'd come here for a quick drink/pastry and a cute place to sit but it doesn't seem worth it to have a full meal here.
Nondescript French cafe, serving solid renditions of French home cooking. From savory and sweet crepes, roasted leg of lamb in a variety of sauces as well as roast beef in the same manner; Cafe Paris manages to execute the wide assortment of dishes with aplomb.
I think Cafe Paris could be our pseudo all you can drink mimosa BYOB brunch spot on the weekends in lieu of our weekend routine when we lived in Brooklyn the past umpteen years. All we have to do is bring a bottle of proseco and order up some OJ and extra glasses and voila, instant weekend gratification, lol.
Its not just a weekend place though, we've visited on a Friday evening and the food was spot on. If I had only one critique its the French Onion Soup. They use a beef stock base and dependent on whether or not the beef stock is from a box, they could go a little easier on the salt for the soup. Otherwise everything is done homey and well.
My fiance just loves the crepes and tonight she had a sweet crepe for dinner. What is it with gals and their crepes?
Came here with my boyfriend after we had a late lunch elsewhere since we were both craving crepes. Given our favorite place is in Asbury Park and seasonal, we decided to come here for some dessert and coffee. The restaurant is very cute and small and given it's called "Cafe Paris" I thought they would have just a few sandwiches and crepes but their menu is actually pretty extensive. The place was pretty empty on a late Sunday when we went in. I must say it's super adorable inside and the owner? (I'm assuming it was her) came over with our menus. I got a nutella and banana crepe and my boyfriend a peanut butter and strawberry jam one. He also got a bubble tea – who knew they would make these?!?! – and I a coffee. The crepes came out pretty quickly and so did my boyfriend's bubble tea, which was more of a green tea bubble milkshake smoothie. It was pretty delicious and we were both happy with our crepes. I want to give this place more of a 3.5 star because it was pricey (paid $30 before tip) but I'll round up because I liked the atmosphere. I'm not sure I would make this place a habit but more of a once in a while treat.
A cute little casual French place for crepes, quiches and sandwiches. It looks like it is run by just one or two people so the service is a bit slow for dinner. I had the spinach quiche and frankly I was disappointed as it was kind of hard solid and not fluffy. The crepe was quite nice though. Overall an ok place to hang out but don't expect too much.
We went here for brunch on a Sunday. They have some nice classic french items and a good selection of hot and cold drinks. My only complaint would be that there was only one waitress for the inside and outside. She was very overwhelmed and I often felt she was horrying to talk with us so that she could get back to her other tables. It would be nice if they would hire another person during the weekend and especially when they have their outdoor seats open. Items would pretty expensive so it's not a place you can go to all the time.. But a nice treat!
I hate to give Cafe Paris such a low rating, but there are two reasons for the justification: a. overpriced in comparison to overall quality, b. a long piece of hair that was found in our food; last time I checked the menu, I didn't see 'Hairy Blueberry Crepe' under the desert section. When I told the server about what I found, she was extremely apologetic about the mishap, and not only provided a replacement, but a complimentary croissant. The effort was there, but I wish it was right the first time. Overall, I thought the crepe was OK, nothing that I feel like I would need to come back
On the positive side, the Omelette Au Saumon Fume (2 eggs omelette with smoked salmon, asparagus, goat cheese, and fresh spinach) was delicious! If I could, I would have ordered three of them bad boys. I would easily come back for the omelette.
I would maybe consider coming back to Cafe Paris if I was Metuchen, but not anytime soon.
If you are looking for a good brunch on the wknd, this is the spot!
