Friendly neighborhood diner with better than average diner food.
Diner food has become typically the same at every place. When a diner does little things to be different it stands out.
Only had breakfast but it was well prepared and server was excellent
So, if you've gone to this place pre hurricane Sandy, you would know this place was the best diner in all of Howard Beach. Of course every good thing must come to an end- Sandy hit and so did the menu or the food for that matter. I've received a char grilled steak (asked for medium rare), and I've received a nice piece of hair in my coleslaw (it happens, I'm a girl, it gets places but seriously no discount to the check?). Thanks for the slaw with the hair on the side.
I came here a few times. This means I was willing to give it a few tries. Both times service was quick and attentive. Drinks were delicious and strong. And both times I was surprised by the cost of the food….. food which was just okay. I had the chicken parmesan which was good with pasta which was decent. I also had a chicken caeser salad which was nothing impressive. The price on the other hand was quite impressive!
Been coming here for years. This diner is tried and true.
Came on a Sunday around 1pm, it was a mad house. Won't do that again, we waited like 15 minutes for a table, which was a little annoying as we never had to wait before. The waitress was a little frazzled, but all in all a good dining experience.
Yay I am a fan. Of what you ask? Of giant mozzarella sticks – yes mozzarella sticks were ginormous. Perfectly fried. Exactly what I want and need on a late night. My husband had a roast beef sandwich which was yummy too. Calamari also hit the spot huge pieces not overly battered, fried just right. Decor super cute, changes for the seasons. I will be back 🙂
Stumbled in here last night after RV Rooftop down the block. Service was mediocre at best, food came quickly. Ordered a gyro which came with 3 small strips of dried out aged processed gyro meat in a massive pita. Note to owner – if you are going to skimp out on the gyro meat, better get a smaller pita so it looks proportionate.
Fries with melted mozzarella were decent and so was the gravy. All in all, nothing great and would pass right by the next time around.
Came here for brunch with my fiance last Saturday after running some errands on Crossbay Blvd. We were set on dining at Crossbay Diner, but out of curiosity, I searched for surrounding diners on Yelp. To my utter surprise, Crossbay Diner was my only result! It makes complete sense why it was so packed when we stepped in. Not only that, the diner is open 24/7, has plenty of seating, and the food and service are on point. I was craving some runny eggs, so I ordered 2 over easy eggs with pastrami on multigrain toast, whereas my fiance ordered 2 sunny side up with corned beef hash and multigrain toast. My eggs were perfecto! The oozing yolk on my toast and pastrami hit the spot. Not to mention, both dishes came with shredded potato, which satisifed my craving for some potatoes and ketchup :). My only complaint was the coffee wasn't bold enough for me. It was rather weak and lacked the aroma that a good cup of java needs. We also suggest that the menu clearly state what our dish is sided with, as my fiance wouldnt have ordered his hash if he knew the dish was going to be accompanied with potato. However, we really enjoyed our meal and being that this diner is one of the few, or only one, around, it won't be the last time you will see me there!
