“Ridiculous I know, but it's become a tradition ever since I moved home from college in 2006 and needed a dive bar to call my own.”

  1. I love this place! Been coming here for a while and I am happy its still around and the place and decor looks the same.

LOVE the wings, mostly what I come here for with my waffle fries on the side.

Small menu and cheap too but I am ALL BOUT THE WINGS!

Happy Hour is awesome you can't go wrong with half price drinks, shots and $3 beers.

Also BEER PONG in the back!

Place does get crowded and theres barely any seating but you have a good time with the cool XMAS lights over you and the old school jams playing out loud and the TVs with the sport games one.

    Full bar!

Dress casual and comfortable, lots of college kids & tourists too!

  2. Doing an updated review ever since my last review from 2 years ago, its still as awesome as before. I actually came here to try the unlimited brunch and wow its great! It's $25.00 per person from 12-5 for unlimited wings, fries, tator tots, onion rings, breakfast baskets, draft beer and mimosas. You can't go wrong with that. They also have a $35.00 per person thats in addition for the other beer (IPA's etc), but thats great. I think this is a best brunch spot for a few friends who want to drink and eat. You can also start up a game of beer pong.

  3. Tiny bar with great prices. I've been to their other sister locations around the city and each have a slightly different vibe than the prior. My co-worker dragged me here on a Wednesday to enjoy their $1 pint beer on tap special and I figured to try their budget friendly wings (ended up enjoying it for the price of $9 or so).

If you're going with a group of friends make sure to come early. There are a lack of tables so might be annoying to find an appropriate spot to "chill". On a better note they have beer pong like their other locations which may bring nostalgia of some good ole times in college.

May be back one day but not on my go to list.

  4. $25 dollars all you can eat hot wings/breakfast baskets, all you can drink (some) domestic drafts/mimosas–sundays 12p-5p (and i think saturdays too). other cool deals available on weeknights.
tons of tvs, so as you can imagine place really bumps during football season (they play the broadcast audio load and clear for Jets and GMEN, which is important). staff here is some of the coolest around. you actually have to walk down stairs from street level to get in (hence the name), so be sure not to miss it.

  5. This is the spot for one of the best deals in the city. Thought I already wrote a review but maybe forgot since been coming here for years.  Saturday special was $25 for all u can drink domestics n all u can eats wings, fries, tator tots n onion rings 12-6 but starting last year they switched to 12-5pm n you can pay $35 if you want any tap beer over just domestics.  The place is dark when you first walk in but your eyes adjust quickly.  Not sure if they just started this but you can get a mimosa instead of beer if you want to switch it up n also didn't notice the breakfast basket which I think included  French toast sticks, sausage links n something else maybe tator tots?  The French onion stick was good.  Every time I come here there's a good crowd tho 4th of July wknd the city was pretty dead.  The Euros 2016 were on and I bet Italy only to watch them bungle a penalty shootout to give Germany the win.  Always good spot for watching games and today they played all 80's songs lol.  They have a bear pong table on the other side of the bar tho I've yet to play.  The wings are delicious and for me their hottest is not hot enough but has good heat so it doesn't burn up your insides badly lol.  The bathroom stall is pretty tight quarters if you needed to know and it's not a part of the special but their macaroni bites are the shit!   I love this place and will never stop coming here until I get married. The staff is always friendly and there's always few good looking ladies that come in to pig out with the rest of us ha. Jk lol

  6. I took my husband here for a Sunday Brunch treat. Had always heard of this place and woke up one Sunday and decided on a whim that it was time to check it out. I couldn't pass up the $25 all you could drink and eat option 12 noon till 5 on Sundays.

When we walked down the stairs and clearly into about 15 years ago, we found a bunch of 20 somethings at the bar, downing group shots, and having fun.  We made our way to the middle side room, close enough to watch the craziness but a bit quieter so we could hear each other.  We also had a great view of the beer pong players in yet another side room. The husband went to the bar to order our drinks and a round of food.  He was gone a while because the bartenders were doing shots with some of the loud 20 somethings. The bartenders were nice, although decently buzzed, and offered a $35 option.  The more expensive $35 all you can drink allowed you to choose any draft beer instead of the Bud, BudCoors Light, Rolling Rock option.  We choose to stay cheap since mimosas were available with the cheaper option.

We also ordered 2 breakfast bowls and an order of tater tots.  Those of you foodies out there will be seriously disappointed in the culinary skills of the kitchen if you're expecting "brunch." Think more along the lines of deep fried Burger King French toast sticks, hash browns, and sausage links, which is exactly what I was expecting. Everything was good though – and washed down nicely with the mimosas and beers. As for the tots, a nice serving of deep fried tots helped absorb a few rounds.  We did have an order of the wings, which were actually pretty good. They somehow messed up and brought out two orders instead of one, so we took some to go and found someone who looked hungry to give them to.

This was fun, plain and simple, and will be repeated when we are in the mood for another NYC Sunday Funday!

  7. Went to Down The Hatch with a group of friends on a Saturday night last time I was in the city.

This place is perfect if you're either still in college or not too far removed. It situated in a basement and is a pretty big space. The bar is really long and there's beer pong and other drinking games in the back room.

It was a little crowded, but if you've already had a decent bit to drink you should be fine. Drinks were reasonable for the area. When I was there I noticed a sign for their bottomless brunch that looks great so I'll definitely be back to try that.

  8. Who doesn't love a good down the hatch session with your friends?! One of my favorite divey bars in the area, I always have a good time here.

My work friends and I like down the hatch because we work in Jersey City. It is a quick walk off the path, and the drink prices can't be beat!! A good place to watch games too, because pitchers are a cheap, cheap $8. I secretly like how it is underground because you leave and forget what day it is. Beer pong is located in the back too, for those of you who get there early enough in the day/night to snag a table. Bartenders are always friendly & accommodating too.
