  1. I tried emailing my comments via the website, I'm guessing it didn't go through since no one responded.

I attended a recent midnight brunch, I was very hesitant as I had already had two unpleasant experiences here. Trying to be optimistic and wanting to support the people who were hosting the brunch, I decided to give this place another try in hopes of improvement. About 10 minutes after I sat down, it was evident I was making a mistake and should've went elsewhere.

I purposely made sure I had room for what looked like tasty treats from the menu. My first issue was the time it took our server to even acknowledge my table. I've been in hospitality for about a decade, the standard I hold myself to for initially touching a table is two minutes or less. A simple greeting or I'll be back to take your order or asking if we wanted water would have sufficed. I of course was annoyed 20 mins after being sat when the server finally came over to take orders. I took a deep breath and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they're really busy and/or short staffed. Things happen. All five of us at my table ordered at the same time. Appetizers were delivered timely and my mood shifted, I thought the rest of the night would run smoothly.

Fast forward and two out of the five ppl at our table received half of their entrees. The server passes about 15 mins later and asks the three people with nothing in front of them if they got their food :/ Servers should always be aware of where their tables are and who has what. I promise there's no exaggerating here, it took another 20 mins for the other three entrees and one side of toast and one side of scrambled eggs to reach the table. The eggs were mine but at that point I no longer wanted my food. All I could do is laugh and finish my wine. The wine was the best and worst part of the night. Best because it I ordered a bottle a could pour it myself without waiting for someone else to do so. Worst because I feel I wasted $ there that could have been spent elsewhere for a waaaaayyyyyyy better experience. It literally hurt my stomach to pay my bill that night, or maybe it hurt because I was still hungry since I had lost my appetite while waiting.

I was very vocal and expressed my concerns to the owner that night. I was disappointed when as I was telling her what happened, she called my server over and tried to blame all of the breakdowns on her. This was clearly a trickle down effect reflecting disorganization at the top of the hierarchy. The manager came over, offered the entire table complimentary dinner upon return. Our contact info was collected but we have yet to receive anything. The brunch was also abruptly ended because they apparently overbooked themselves. Ppl were evicted from their seats and told to move to the bar if they had already eaten.

Being such a beautiful and convenient Black owned venue, it pains me to not be able to support this place due to their sugar honey iced tea not being together. Unorganized, unprofessional, and horrible service. I'm hoping you all improve, you could really have a gem if business was being handled properly. How are we supposed to support US when the basic standards of service are not being met? Not interested in returning, as I'm not a fan of insanity, but wishing them better days.

  2. I got food poisoning from this place! I am sure it was just this one dish that was bad because my friend was fine. So I can't bring myself to this place a one-star. The service and the appetizer were good.
    – Jerk Chicken wings: it's pretty good, can be spicier
    – Salt-cod fritters: the best dish I had in this place
    – jerk lamb chops (my friend's main): didn't really taste the jerk sauce
    – Cantonese Lobster (my main): this is where the food poisoning happened. I threw up for 2 hours that night. And it was all the lobster.
    – vegetable fried rice (side): had an Asian kick to it, pretty good
    – Rice and peas (side): I had better
We came on a Tuesday night and we were the only guests there. I think this place should focus on the late comedy show and live band and just offer appetizer. And definitely check on that lobster!

  3. I came here a few months back and I wasn't sure if I'd ever return…..but the rain made my decision really easy so we pulled over. I walked in and the place was super empty. No one was there but the service was way better than the first time. My waiter was attentive and polite. The Lamb was jerked well!

I went to the restroom and its unisex. Didn't know that last time. But it was clean and it smelled very good.

If you had to decide on West Indian food I'd suggest going else where. Negrils! The food isn't bad, but the menu is limited.

  4. Came on a Wednesday night with a friend. I had heard about this place a lot so I was looking forward to trying it out for myself. Why oh why did I want to try it out for myself. Why oh why didn't I go by the reviews on Yelp. Well I made reservations. Wasn't really needed since the restaurant was pretty empty. The staff was friendly that was a plus for this place.

We ordered from the $35 prefix menu which includes appetizer, entree and dessert. I ordered the mango salad and my friend ordered the soup of the day. My salad was okay but her soup was barely hot. For our entrees I ordered the jerk lamb chops and she got the red snapper. Neither entree came with any sides which we had to order separately. $7 for for a small plate of rice and peas, really. We both thought our entrees were just okay and could have used a little more seasoning.

We also both ordered a glass of wine. Two different types but they both tasted as if the bottle that was open days ago. Now it's time for dessert. The waiter comes over and tells use they don't have any dessert left because they had an event last night. All they have left is ice cream, vanilla ice cream. Really! So even though we ordered from the prefix and that comes a dessert they failed to mention at the beginning that they had no dessert. The waiter offers us dessert cocktails instead. It was their signature Milk River cocktail. It was actually pretty good.

All in all this restaurant is just okay. For the price of the food okay isn't good enough so I don't see myself coming back here.

Oh and let me not forget that around a half hour into our dinner they lower the projectors and began playing network television very loudly. I came to the restaurant to eat not to watch tv. I could barely hear what my friend was saying.

  5. Ok let's see…. I enjoyed my kale salad literally… the spicy thai chicken wings were good… could have been a bit spicier…. overall my dining experience was a 3.5… now the reason it is not a 4 is because of service… they needed more people on staff to accommodate the crowd…

Other than that the ambiance was real cool. The IET band played Live…. and they were really really really really good…. the band gets FIVE BIG FAT STARS…. Yaaaaaaaaaaas Honey…. I hear they play every Friday night from 9pm to 12am…..

I would come back for the band and dinner….

    Happy Eating!

  6. Came here for an event – didn't get to eat  but tried two of their cocktails. One was the berry one and the other was a coco- mango Cosmo. Both were very good – both prices in the 10-15 dollar range

  7. Very pleasantly surprised by this place. I had come here to watch my friend Shanice perform. She was amazing! The food was also very delicious. I had the calamari which is perhaps the best in the area. It was so tender and flavorful! I also had the cod fritters and the Mac and cheese which were all so delicious.

The drinks were great but a little too pricey for my budget.

  8. My friend made an advanced birthday dinner reservation for 8 people…for TONIGHT! You call her an hour and a half before the reservation begins to tell her that you can't accommodate us? You people are pathetic! No wonder the reviews for this place is so despicable. Your customer service is a shit show!
