This review is for their lunch buffet. This is one of my least favorite Indian lunch buffets in Westchester. I would only eat there because it was the closest to my old job. Nothing really stood out as being exceptionally tasty.
It sounds like their dinner entrees are better….
Great value buffet lunch on a Sunday! There is good variety and the quality to value ratio is very high, making this spot very attractive.
The chicken tikka is creamy and the chicken is made up of mostly the breast, which balances the creaminess. There is plenty of nan and the paneer is very smooth and tasty. There are several other curries and they are also flavorful. The beef was good albeit some pieces being a little tough. Many vegetarian options as well.
The quality of the salads is average and the desserts are the usual syrup laden delicacies.
Tandoori Taste of India has been on my places to visit list for a very long time and finally this past weekend we were in the neighborhood and hungry. It was early, there were only a few other people in the restaurant and the staff was very attentive – we ordered and our food was out quick, our glasses of water were never less than half full.
We started with their Vegetable Platter "An assorted vegetable fritters ( Potato, eggplant, spinach, onions and cauliflower) served with tropical tamarind sauce" – i asked for it without eggplant and got it anyway. the cauliflower was overcooked – it also had peppers (not listed on the menu) that were the best part of the vegetable platter – nicely cooked, not too spicey and not full of oil or pepper juices.
For our main courses we shared the Sabji Masala and Paneer Masala, both were good but not really exceptional – kind of bland, the paneer wasn't very well cooked, the vegetables were not consistent really. Don't get me wrong, it was good but it didnt make a great WOW impression. We had garlic naan with the meal and it was OK too, a little undercooked and a little over the top with the garlic.
Most good Indian restaurants i go to give you papadam with pickle and chutney when you are seated, and raita with your meals – here its not included and you will pay extra.
Tandoori is a pretty good place, not too many other Indian options around PC – it's worth stopping in to check out if you like Indian foods. I was actually pretty impressed by their selection of Beers that went way beyond Taj and Kingfisher – the fruit lambics and the organic sam smiths, and the duval .. things you dont see too often in Indian restaurants.
Came in for the lunch buffet and everything was very good.
Started out with some lentils, chicken tikka masala, and tandoori chicken, along with naan and rice. I really liked the tikka masala sauce but the chicken in it was a tad dry. The tandoori chicken was out of this world. Very moist and flavorful, not dry at all. For my second round I got a little more rice and tandoori chicken with a little of the tikka masala sauce.
Price was reasonable, service was friendly. The decor is not my taste at all, very old school.
I'd come back for lunch!
