The newest Asian-Fusion spot in Brooklyn. I came here for a large birthday so I may have had a not-so-typical experience. When I arrived, there was already food to nibble on at the table.
Wide assortment of Asian-Fusion appetizers, hot dishes, sushi rolls, and crystal grill entrees available. I would compare the crystal grill portion to a hibachi grill. Except, instead of a standard grill, it's a crystal circle. Unfortunately there's no fancy tricks involved. Just some flipping of meats. Everything was edible but nothing stood out.
On the positive side, there's a parking lot (albeit small) which is a rare find in Brooklyn. BYOB, which his always a plus.
Great Decor!
The owners of Mitoushi and a bunch of other sushi spots throughout south Brooklyn have done it again. Made a cool and at the same time good sushi place.
This particular one comes with ocean grill which can simply be described as a self cooked grill that you see in a lot of Korean bar b q places.
The place is good service is good the atmosphere is not really popping as their other spots but still slightly better than an average sushi spot. Maybe it is because they are located on a ground floor of a shopping center that has subway (which was robbed recently at gun point ) and a cleaners next door to it in the middle of Coney Island Avenue.
They carry umi shots that are good if you like that sort of thing and a bunch of cool things for the kids to eat if needed.
Def worth trying out.
In reality they get a 3.5 stars!
We tried Fucianna because it's on iDine. We were given a couple of e-menus on tablets and also traditional menus. The e-menus are searchable by keyword, however we didn't want to use them because they were greasy with the fingerprints of other patrons. That's a shame since everything else about the place is very clean.
The decor is modern and tasteful. A section of tables, separated by a railing from the main dining room, would be nice to reserve for a small semi-private party. The music is soft and unobtrusive, and a large TV plays sports, silently with subtitles. The restaurant is located in a tiny strip mall with a Subway and a laundromat. Each store claims the few parking spots directly in front of it, which are clearly labeled. Fucianna has only 2 spots, but street parking isn't hard to find.
The staff were very polite and helpful. They happily made substitutions, e.g. particular fish on sushi combo dinners, or soba noodles instead of udon. Although the portions were large and attractively plated, and the food was a good value, nobody in my group (teens, adults, seniors) was hooked on the taste of anything. We all felt it was ordinary with nothing outstandingly good or bad. So it basically satisfied our hunger but not our palette.
FYI, more reviews for Fucianna are at yelp.com/biz/fuciaana-as…, until Yelp combines the entries.
