Eh, I had a taste for a good turkey burger… unfortunately, I was disappointed. My burger was overcooked; Whole wheat bun stale and sweet potato fries were just bad. Anyhoo, probably won't eat here again.
Burger Burger is one of those places you go to and order a burger, maybe some fries, a soda, and you leave. Since I am not a huge burger fan, in general, I had never tried their food until we needed something delivered to the office. I ordered through Seamless for the following day…The delivery guy told me they were in my building lobby the day before the scheduled delivery. No big deal, they took the food back and arrived 15 minutes late the following day.
We did not order burgers for the office but we did get onion rings, jalapeno poppers, curly fries, and mozzarella sticks. The favorite was definitely the mozzarella sticks. They were crispy and perfectly fried, without melting cheese oozing onto your mouth and fingers. The fries were pretty good and not limp. The poppers were okay. The onion rings had a nice batter to them. Overall, not a bad place to order in some sides and have yourself a nice little cheat day.
I love to give places second chances, especially when the management of the location reaches out to me. Overall, the convenience of Burger Burger makes it a good stop when I'm in the financial district on business. The fact that they offer a gluten free bun makes it even better considering I have a dietary restriction.
The biggest drawback is that in the multiple visits I've made to this establishment, I've ordered a total of 10 of their beef patties. Every time I order, the friendly person at the register asks me how I'd like my burger cooked. Every time, I answer medium. Maybe I should have downgraded to medium-rare over time, but I want what I want, so I stuck with it. Of all the shots at medium they had, every burger was cooked on the far side of medium-well at best and others last saw medium sometime around the time of the Eisenhower administration. Typically the beef was dry, losing it's moisture and flavor through my entire sampling.
In my previous review I mentioned the variety of options they have, giving you interesting combinations of burgers to choose from. They also serve side salads or fries with each burger. If you're gluten free like me, you'll need to stick with the salad since many of their breaded appetizers share the same frier.
Based on convenience and location, they'll probably snag my business at least one more time while I'm making trips to NYC. How couldn't I when it's on the walk between my office and hotel? However, Burger Burger isn't a place I'd go out of my way to eat at.
I am a self-proclaimed burger snob, and I can attest that this place is not worth checking out. Food is so expensive for what it is and they have messed up my order on a few different occasions. On top of that, the food is not that good, I've definitely had better.
Burger Burger reminds me of burger & fries from the 1970's. Burger is Flame Broiled and Fries are thick cut, almost 'steak fries' as they used to be called.
I do like the quality of their burgers & fries, but I don't like the meat-to-bread ratio. The bun is nice & soft, but it's really big and the meat patty is pretty small, so seems like you're eating a lot of bread.
And the price of the burger is somewhat high – $10.50 for 6oz of Meat, so it's not a full 1/2lb (8oz.).
Also, the Milk Shakes pretty much suck, as they have a chemical taste to them, so I'd pass on those. But, the fries are good, as well as the Hot Dog, and might be the best thing there. Then again though, at $4.50 for a hot dog, that's pricey as well.
So, Overall, I do like Burger Burger's quality of food, but their Prices don't justify a higher rating, which is why I'm only giving them 3-stars.
For a slightly higher price, I'd rather go to Zaitzeff Burgers a few blocks away and get a full 1/2lb burger (8oz) and is of higher quality with less bread, and much better fries that are homemade on a skillet. Just my opinion.
But if you don't feel like walking there, and don't mind the price, then Burger Burger is a fair option.
I came here with no expectations whatsoever for lunch and came away quite surprised at how good their burger and fries actually are! The burgers are a bit pricey at $10-$12, but after devouring my burger in short time I was convinced this might be the best burger in the fidi!
I visited on a weekday during lunch at about 12pm and there was no wait. There were a few people waiting for their burgers with me, but it took about 5-7 minutes for the order to be completed, which was an ok wait. I ordered a medium rare cheeseburger (with American cheese) and it came with an order of fries. The burger was pretty big and VERY juicy! It came with lettuce, tomato and onions on top. The two buns were separated and left for the customer to put together. With each bite I kept thinking, "I can't believe this burger is really good!" The fries were just as surprisingly great. They were potato cut fries and the portion of fries was perfect.
If the price of the burgers here weren't so high, I'd actually come back! I still might, but at $10+, it's hard to spend that type of money on lunch, however the quality was definitely excellent!
Seriously, its getting two stars only because its edible.
This place sits behind the building of where I work, a friend and I were craving a burger. What we got was dogmeat, at least thats what it tasted like — dogmeat.
I must've stood inside this joint for 10 minutes and I left smelling like I was flipping burgers allday for the whole day (understand).
It will be a cold day, before I step a pinky toe into this place again.
Just a note* they participate with Bellycard.
Sooooo good! Had lunch here on a Friday. It was jam packed, but what isn't in NYC. Burger was delicious! Nice, big beefy burger cooked according to your preference with that charbroiled taste, lettuce & tomato. Fries were yummy and the pickle was good, too! Hit the spot!!
