We came here on a Groupon. Great value on Groupon, but the service is left to desire.
My family and i got to the restaurant at 6p and we were standing at the door for what felt like 15 minutes, just to get noticed and a table. There was only 2 customer (1 table) at the time. The lady was busy taking takeout order and she saw us when we first walked in.
The food was delicious. We had ordered lo mein for the kids, the had something grilled/spicy beef, shrimp wonton soup and sesame chicken. The beef was tender and spicy, oh so delicious. The kids loved the lo mein n devoured it. No complains on the food and drinks. Shout out to the bartender – your drink mixes were well done n perfect. My family ordered the chocolate martini, long ice tea, leechy martini etc…all was mixed well…big up to the mixologist!!!!
The food took so long to come out, the kids were getting restless and the family was starving at this point. 30 MINUTE gap between appetizers to main entree….too much wait time between meal.
Five plus star for delicious food and awesome mixologist (awesome for SI). The service and wait time for food is horrendous.
Staten Island, let's give a warm round of applause to the BEST pan-Asian restaurant the borough. I've been hearing about Jade for months so I had high expectations. This place blew them all away. Our party of 6 went on a Saturday night and decided we'd get the 5 course prefixe because why not? Here's how it went:
*Food*
We didn't feel like gavones ordering 5 courses because everything was so mindfully plated. All of it was so delicious – the calamari was tender, the salad was crisp, the shrimp entree was flavorful. The Royal Beef is really the star. It is out of this world and comes with an AMAZING sauce! Everything was a hit.
*Decor*
The decor is classy and fun. The have a cool bathroom like something you'd find in Manhattan. The parking lot was well lit and convenient to the entrance. The chairs, wall coverings, lighting and table settings were all unique and classy.
*Service*
Wow – what gracious, professional service! Our water was refilled promptly, our plates were cleared before the next course was brought out, the waitress thoughtfully suggested their unique cocktails based on our tastes. The owner/manager Angela was also wonderful and made our birthday experience perfect!
*Overall*
An enthusiastic 5 stars for this awesome spot! I'll be returning soon and often.
Lapin and I came here for dinner. We were seated quickly and the decor was very rich and beautiful. We ordered a couple of cocktails, which were good but not very strong. His favorite was the Blue Hawaii and Super Scorpion. We order the lobster salad (which looked like bits of lobster but tasted and looked like langostinos) and mango shrimp salad (it was okay, it had more mango flavor than to my liking).
We ordered the coconut shrimp and the rock shrimp as appetizer. The coconut shrimp was four decent size shrimp covered in processed coconut flakes and burnt. The sauce was delicious but didn't care about the shrimp. The other appetizer took 15 minutes to come after the first one came. The rock shrimp was good and was a good portion.
For our entrees, Lapin ordered the Salmon curry with brown rice and the waitress bought out the wrong rice. She didn't understand when we told her we ordered two brown rice…it might help if you write things down, you know. However, Lapin thoroughly enjoyed his dish. I ordered the Grand Marnier shrimp with brown rice. It was four shrimp on top of a bed of cooked broccoli. Personally, I would have liked more shrimp but I would been more satisfied if I actually had some sauce for my rice.
For dessert, we ordered fried oreos (2 pieces) and pistachio ice cream. Both dessert was delicious but the serving size is a bit small for what it is is.
The service was a bit mediocre. The waitresses were friendly at times but absent minded. We waited served one appetizer or one entree while the other person had nothing. They took almost 30 minutes to let us order and even then she said she would come and left our questions about the menu unanswered. No one came to refill water or check in on us. And we got the bill as soon as we got our dessert without asking.
Love their hot and sour soup. I actually judge a lot of Chinese/Asian restaurants on their hot&sour. This was is a home run.
This used to be King's Chef and what they've done with the interior is just fabulous. So beautifully appointed and gives a real sense of intimacy in a large space. For a cocktail, I recommend the Sake Martini. It's crisp and clean. Can't go wrong. Appetizer must be the Jerky Beef. One bite and you will be addicted. That good. Entree I would go with Crispy Shredded Chicken. I don't know if I've ever had something so crispy! Another dish I just want more of.
If you are looking to try it out, go for the Groupon. It's a pretty good deal.
