First off, the place doesn't have a sign, almost looks like a pet shop from the outside – then you walk in, its an art studio with a neat bar and tables.
Brunch menu comes with one included brunch drink. Don't get it twisted, it's not bottomless, it would be dope if it was. Just saying.
I ordered the Dominican Sunshine – it was good – I'm Dominican myself so it wasn't the best typical Dominican breakfast platter that I had ever had – but it was good. The fireman ordered the Cuban – now that sandwich was amazing. Phenomenal.
Topped all that with some pineapple mimosas – yum.
This is a cute little spot in Astoria – artsy and hipster. It's totally worth checking out.
Me and My friend waited till 11am until Fatty's open. There's no sign outside the restaurant so be sure to check out my storefront picture. We were greeted by the bartender as soon as we entered the restaurant and she mentioned that there's an outdoor patio. I had to take some pictures of the interior because its so freaking cute. We walked towards the back of the restaurant and was directed to sit on the right hand side as there were tables in the shade and the decor outside makes us feel like we are on vacation and not in Astoria lol

Brunch: Dominican Sunrise (my friend's) and Mofongo (mine)…oh boy, oh boy the flavor profile of each dish was incredibly delicious and totally on point man!
Come hungry because my Mofongo stuffed me like a roast pig with an apple in my mouth haha
The service was amazing and our sever was friendly and came by our table to check up on us!

I'd brunched at Fatty's old location, but the new spot is definitely less convenient for upper Astoria types. So it took me a while to check out their new digs, but I'm glad I did.
They make fun gringo cuisine – with gringo prices, but the ambience makes up for that. Limited vegetarian options, but what's there is rad. I inhaled the giant veggie burrito, and didn't mind the much, much slower bike ride home. Next time I tried a few sides – all nom.
Cocktails are solid, and the draft selection is surprisingly diverse.
The decor retains Fatty's familiar pacific blue walls and eclectic stuff. Backyard seating is perfect for summer evenings.
Service is solid, if a bit too cool for my taste.

I've been meaning to come here since it moved away from Ditmars. Fatty's was a block away from my apartment but I never had a chance to go until after it moved to the new location.
Walking in earlier today, everyone loved the option as the aesthetic of the restaurant is great. We got there 15 minutes after it opened at 11 and was seated in the picnic table out back (the largest seating in the restaurant). We had told the staff that we were waiting for one more and I'm not sure if that's why but it took an hour (until our friends came) to get our orders in.

While the food was good, the order took forever to come out. The ladies with us loved the mango mimosas that they ordered but my Bloody Mary came out halfway through my meal, shortly after I thought about cancelling my drink. The food there in general was great but the service was far from acceptable.
1. The waiter took forever to take our order.
2. He never checked up on us.
3. Food came out late.
4. We had to ask for water refills.
Overall, we did not feel much attention was placed on us at all and it didn't even seem like the place was busy. We ended up leaving around 1pm which shows you how slow it was there. While I do want to go back during non-brunch hours, I really hope they can step up their game in regards to service.
Visited Fatty's for brunch. I enjoyed it, just can't say that I was majorly impressed. The food was good, nothing outstanding and the bloody marys were tasty (though could use a bit more heat). Oh but they did an awesome job with my bacon – not too overly done, great flavor. The place is small but cute, the decorations are pretty cool – lots of art on the walls. Staff are super friendly. Though I can't say it blew my mind, I would recommend Fatty's Cafe for a quite, simple Sunday brunch.
This place is so, so cute & the staff are super fun and friendly! There's adorable outdoor seating in the back with a tin overhang and a fun disco ball. It made me sincerely happy to be here on a Saturday morning after a long night of drinking.
They have an incredible brunch special: $17 for a meal and a drink. I had a yummy mimosa, we shared guacamole ($10) and I had an egg white omelette with veggies, a huge portion of super crispy bacon, home fries and a side salad.
The chips are crunchy and delicious homemade tortilla chips. The guacamole is filled with fresh peppers and onions.
The brunch portion was huge. The egg white omelette was thin (would probably ask for more well done eggs next time), but all the veggies were super duper fresh and the mushrooms were amazingly seasoned. The home fries were YUM- they weren't oily and had big, fresh chunks of potatoes and peppers. I didn't love the dressing on the side salad, but the literal heap of crunchy bacon made up for that.
Main criticism is that coffee is expensive (they use espresso) and its not unlimited. But, they have a fun cocktail list, an amazing music playlist with fun tiki music, and I'd love to go back and try some soon!
Very cool space. Makes you feel like you're in a Caribbean island hut on a beach. It's a very welcoming environment. Didn't get to sit outside since the waiter said it was closed. Weirdly enough though he seated people out there about 30 min after we sat down inside.
The food was great, mimosas were strong. I liked that the plate portions were big – especially considering the high $17 prefixe brunch menu. I didn't expect to pay that much in this area but at least the food was worth it and there was a lot to chose from. It was also nice that you get to pick different flavor mimosas. I don't see a lot of places doing that. Although you can't go wrong with classic OJ, they give you pineapple and mango as alternatives.
The service was OK. It seems like they did the bare minimum and it wasn't even crowded. Maybe if they smiled more.
I think the term "off the beaten path" was coined for places like these. (Any place that's over a half mile walk from a non-trendy subway stop qualifies in my opinion.) When you head off the map you'd expect to find something cute and good and this place delivered on that for my wife and I. For brunch we had polenta pancakes with cheese. Of course, as a grain based dish the polenta gives you that country grits type attitude. My grandpa — WWII navy vet from Virginia mountain country — used to make grits for us. So anything that reminds me of him scores points. In some ways this place has that down home country feeling. Fun art on the walls and a solid virgin Bloody Mary to gargle it all down with. (I don't drink alcohol in the morning.)
