  1. I visited Bagel Boss first. Then I tried David's. I have never returned back to Bagel Boss. These bagels are definitely better and so are the iced coffees. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel. For the majority, it was very tasty. My only flaw which doesn't allow this place to be a five is not enough meat. The egg to sausage ratio was not favorable to how I usually like that. This is my new bagel place I go to every weekend.

  2. There was a long line, almost out the door, but the total wait was maybe only 15 min.

I got the CINNAMON RAISIN BAGEL WITH WALNUT RAISIN CREAM CHEESE. It was delicious! Make sure to get your bagels toasted! I liked the walnut raisin cream cheese–it had a nice subtle flavor. It would probably go better on a bagel that has more contrast. The cinnamon raisin bagel and the cream cheese meshed into one flavor, though still delicious nonetheless. The bagel had a crispy exterior, chewy inside and it was warm and toasty.

I took a bite of my friend's ONION BAGEL WITH STRAWBERRY CREAM CHEESE. Also delicious. No complaints here. Great contrast of flavors that still complement.

ICED COFFEE. I recommend to not get it with sugar…they just add granulated sugar, which does not dissolve.

  3. This has got to be one of the better bagels places on the lower east side and is my go to sport on weekends. If you come here during rush hour though there can be 20+ minute waits but I personally think it is worth it.

It offers all your typical bagels and and whole wheat everything bagels my favorite. I usually get egg and cheese on a bagel and it is cooked soft scrambled and so delicious. The bagels here are soft on the outside and have the right crunch texture on the outside. There aren't to many bagel places on the LES so if you are looking for a good spot look no further and come here.

In addition the coffee here is extremely good, I am not sure exactly how they make but i think they put some Thai ice tea in the ice coffee mixture which gives a sweet tasty after taste and the hot coffee is just as good.

In regards to speed they are very quick even when they have long lines and the staff is very friendly.

    In short:
    – My favorite LES bagel spot
    – Delicious bagels and coffee
    – Has all the basic bagels no specialty bagels
    – Fair prices
    – Quick but can have long lines during weekend rush hour times

  4. Big fan of David's bagels! I ordered an everything bagel with bacon, egg cheese and chipotle chicken and my friend ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The service was quick and friendly. Usually not a big fan of bagels but these were really good. The bagels were fluffy and warm with a nice texture and they went well with the fillings. The eggs were soft and well made, everything else was pretty standard but all together, it was a great breakfast sandwich. I'm definitely coming back when i'm close to the area

  5. I've been meaning to try one of the bagel joints down the street, and finally had the chance to go with a friend who was visiting for the weekend.

On first impression, the interior of David's Bagels looked pretty dingy and rundown. Fortunately, the bagels and spreads themselves looked pretty fresh. I guess the upkeep of the store just isn't a huge priority.

I really wanted a bagel breakfast sandwich with eggs/breakfast meat, but I didn't see those options. Now that I see Yelp photos though, I probably just didn't know how to order said bagel sandwich. Oh well.

I ended up ordering a sesame bagel with lox spread and a medium coffee ($6.80 total). They are generous with the lox spread, which is delicious and not too fishy (ie. I could eat it in class without stinking up the classroom). I didn't get my bagel toasted because it cost an additional 10 cents and I didn't really care for it after seeing how they completely burned a croissant for the order ahead of me. Skip the coffee and grab Starbucks down the street instead if you want something drinkable.

  6. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on toasted sesame bagel. The flavor a were great and it looked like the items had been tossed together on the grill rather than piled on the bagel. The bacon was crunchy which I love but wasn't spread out evenly so I ended up with some parts that were just egg, and some that were big bacon chunks (can't complain about that). Fairly quick service for a Friday morning.

  7. I am a big fan of bagels so was excited to come to David's Bagels after having seen it on a "NYC best bagels" list. And overall I was not disappointed. I came consistently over a half-dozen times within a few weeks and definitely was happy each time.

This place has a classic NYC bagel house feel to it. They don't have a huge variety of bagels or spreads, but what they do have is very very good. You'll place your order with one employee and then he'll see it through to the finish, pretty standard protocol in NYC. Never had an order done incorrectly. The bagels and cream cheeses i've tried were all very good. The plain and low-fat plain spreads i thought were good, but the veggie was very good. If you get a bagel toasted it is VERY hot but still maintains a good chewiness.

The cash register requires a $5 minimum for credit card which is fine, but I thought the bowl of hard-boiled eggs was extremely unappealing and off-putting just sitting out like a bowl of mints in a hotel bathroom…

BAGEL SCORE: 4/5. These bagels are a good sized bagel, with great flavor on every I've tried as well as a good salt amount on the everything. Good chewiness to the bagels, which even on a toasted bagel is good. Moist/fluffy interior with slight crisp on the outside. Great bagels.

  8. Amazing bagels. I got an onion bagel toasted with lox cream cheese. The bagel was perfectly crisp yet pleasantly chewy and the lox spread was surprisingly light despite the huge chunk that's smeared across the bagel. I was able to eat one half for lunch and save the other half for dinner.

One star taken off because I thought the shop itself looked a little dull.

    Also, $5 credit card minimum.
