  1. This was a really nice place to grab dinner before heading off on the metro north. The quinoa bowl was awesome, with the perfect amount of spice. The tables were well-separated with fairly comfortable chairs, perfect after a hectic day in Times Square.

  2. There isn't much to say about Cafe Metro except for the fact they're open really early.  It was perfect for me since I caught a red eye to New York and they offered coffee to tame my airplane breath.

The Cafe was brightly lit and next to the most famous restaurant in the world… McDonald's.  I didn't decided to go with Cafe Metro's coffee versus McDonald's because I'm not a big fan of McDonald's organic coffee.  Sorry.

  3. I've been here at least a dozen times during the evening hours (between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM). Mostly for the salads which are by far the freshest I've ever had in, my, life. This is the only place I know that has shrimp as an option for making your own salad. The customer service is always quick and efficient.

In search of a warm caffeinated beverage on a cold night I came here for a latte. The caramel  flavored latte with whip cream was super good.

I will be back and I do recommend.

  4. Maybe I'm cheap, but I hate the prices here. My lunch today came to about $13. Why is a cookie $2.50? Now it's easier to stick to my diet.

The make your own salad bar is nice because they have baked tofu but the downside is the guys making the salad talk about you like no one else could possibly understand Spanish or take a long time preparing things.

It's close to most offices, but it's not getting any better.

  5. I came here a few times already and have to say, they have some decent breakfast. Most of the sandwiches are made prior to them opening. But it's understandable figuring how busy they get.  I tend to order a bacon and cheese omelette. They make it right in front of you. Like I said before it's pretty decent. I don't know what else to say about this place besides, go ahead and give them a chance. Their way better than McDonald's who are located next door.

  6. I grabbed lunch here after getting back to the city after a weekend trip, and it was the worst food I've had in NYC. I got an iced coffee blended beverage (so sweet, I drank less than half of it and gave up for fear of diabetes) and a small personal pizza that tasted like cardboard with some truly disgusting toppings halfheartedly thrown on top. To add insult to injury, the entire meal came out to just under $20 — for that, I could have gotten something significantly better at a real restaurant, or multiple pastries and a nice espresso at the espresso bar down the street. In fact, the food was so bad here, I was ill for most of the day afterwards; and that was despite eating less than a quarter of the food I'd ordered before giving up on it.

Last note: they say they have in-store WiFi for customers. This is a lie — the WiFi didn't work.

  7. This place has awesome bagels, and a good breakfast selection. The price is fantastic for NYC, so not really sure why the reviews aren't better. I'm visiting for work, which is the next block over, and have come in here 2 different times on my trip. The bagels are HUGE! And they are so yummy. I got the veggie cream cheese and seriously couldn't imagine going back to crap bagels in Texas.. 🙂 come here!

  8. Obviously being a NYer, I know that things in Manhattan can be and are over priced. And being a NYer, I expect to at least get something decent for the over priced items I'm paying for. Well, Cafe Metro on 42nd street made sure I had both a stomach ache and a raped wallet by the time I walked out of there.

Long story short, we were heading to Grand Central Terminal, but were overly hungry. We were a little ways away, when we spotted this place. Not being fans of McDonalds' food, we decided a simple pizza would crave such hunger.

The beverage selection was pretty weak in my opinion, but I did grab some sort of lemonade from a company I never heard of before. I made the mistake of ordering 2 slices for myself and 1 for my companion. Then I got the bill, which made me do a double take. $20 for 3 slices of pizza and 2 beverages. That's right, $20 for 3 slices of pizza and 2 inexpensive beverages. Being that we were hungry and I'm not that type of customer, I said fine and at least expected the greatest slice of pizza in my life for that price. Even in Manhattan, where everything is overpriced, $5 a slice is kind of high. Well, the pizza was among the worst things I've ever eaten – and the worse slice of pizza I've ever had. I've had pizza from quite a lot of places, and being Italian, I kind of know my pizza. THIS pizza was atrocious – even to a hungry stomach. Dominoes "pizza" would best this on it's worst day. A supermarket generic frozen pizza is more appetizing than this. It's actually an insult to call it pizza and real nerve charging that price – even if it is near the terminal.

If that wasn't enough, the employees weren't exactly the kindest people either – they kept me waiting before my order (I should have seen the signs), were kind of rude, and even though I said 'thank you' out of courtesy, I didn't even get one in response. Again, I know it's Manhattan, but it's no excuse to be a jerk.

Suddenly, McDonalds doesn't look so bad anymore. Pizza wasn't the only food in there, so I can't comment on anything else – but use caution and hold on to your wallet.

Seriously, I'd rather starve then to ever eat in this place again.  I'd rather pick in the garbage – literally – than to ever pay their prices for the crap they serve in there. Their attitudes doesn't make it any better. I'd rather pay a ridiculous parking ticket, than to give this place another cent in my lifetime. If they were a little nicer and more courteous, then maybe I wouldn't have minded as much – but it just makes the whole experience of this place that much worse. If you're in the same situation that I was in, walk another block – it's Manhattan and you'll always find a place. This is the bottom of the barrel, so anything else is a step up already.
