Any place that has a sauce bar is off to a good start with me! Burgers are good but the buns could be fresher.
I recommend the mini burger which is still a good size and comes with fries. I got avocado and bacon added which was a great idea. Not the best burger in the city but pretty affordable and a good place to stop if you're in the area.
Dirty place but wow what a yummy burger. I want one right noe. Good price good size burger not like those tiny fancy burgers at shake shack.
This review is only for the veggie burger as I haven't tried anything else here. Vegetarians looking for a meal here will be disappointed with dry the veggie pattie with zero taste, seasoning or flavor. Avoid.
For the neighborhood, this is an affordable and simultaneously lovely burger joint. I came in on a weekday afternoon around 3pm. There was no line and I was impressed by the atmosphere/decor and the variety in the menu.
My friend and I both got burgers. I don't remember what burger she ordered, but she also got fries. I got the Soho and indulged in a guilty pleasure, onion rings.
Wowie zowies! The onion rings were fan-f&$!ing-tactic! There were not overly battered. They were fresh and crunchy. An absolute and pleasant surprise.
The burger was also very good. Nothing out of this world but tasty and satisfied my burger craving.
Lastly, I was impressed by the sauce bar. They have a section full of different sauces for your sides and entrees. There's a pesto one that's delicious and a spicy cream sauce that's also enjoyable.
If I'm ever in the hood and craving a burger, I will definitely return!
NY Burger Co. is like an upscale Shake Shack. When you order your burger, you even get to tell them how you want it cooked. What? Their menu consists of burgers named after different areas in NYC such as Chelsea, Flatiron, Soho, Tribeca, etc. I order the Chelsea which was a burger (you can choose Turkey or beef) with bacon, cheddar cheese, and 1000 Island dressing. I was a little hesitant on the dressing because I wouldn't choose 1000 island on my salad let alone a burger, but I was pleasantly surprised. I also ordered the sweet potato fries. Another added bonus, NY Burger Co. has a large selection of condiments from basic ketchup to chipotle ranch (so good).
I first noticed New York Burger Co. when an incredible smell hit my nostrils as I was walking along the Highline in NY. As soon as we found our way off that architecture design museum we headed for NY Burger Co. The place looked cool inside, basic burger joint. From the menu you can tell they provide high quality options, such as Angus beef. I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese, (what was supposed to be) grilled onions, and bacon, with a side of onion rings. That's my usual go to order at any burger place unless they are know for a specific burger. The burger was pretty good. All the sauces, along with pickles, were all on a bar by the seating. I really enjoyed the burger sauce. I love saucy food so I went back for seconds on that. The onion rings were pretty crispy, thin, and big but they weren't beer battered, which is my preference. However, the way they were battered seems as if they were freshly made there in the store, which I appreciated. My only small complaints were the cashier and the fact that I ordered grilled onions and they gave me red raw onions. The cashier seemed to be a somewhat young female. We were talking with the cashier about the menu options and she sees her cousin and breaks out in song and dance. Really? Besides that, she was pretty nice and seemed knowledgeable about the menu options. Bottom line, I would certainly visit again.
Similar thoughts as Morgan P below. I had a BareBurger last week and tried NYBC today. Good comparison.
BareBurger: grass fed beef that's nice but has little taste.
NYBC: Angus burger off a grill with great taste. The special sauce on the Chelsea Burger was a great addition.
BareBurger: more than $20 for burger, cheese, fries, iced tea.
NYBC: less than $20 for the same.
I plan to return to NYBC. Not so with BareBurger.
Love the sauces that NYBC has.
They provide a solid burger and you can get all the onions you want at the topping station.
The burgers are cooked nicely and they are priced reasonably.
