  1. Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Reminiscent of an old pizzeria, a little run down looking inside, but an ordinary looking place.  Honestly, don't pay a lot of attention to since I only do take out.

Noise/sound level: It was a little empty inside and I usually do take out so the sound level was not an issue.

Menu: Geared towards chicken, ribs, burgers, turkey, and other southern food items.

Service:  Nice and friendly over the phone and in person, looks like a family run restaurant as well.

Food: Pretty good jumbo wings, but they are not "jumbo" they are normal sized breaded wings.  If you feel these are huge, jumbo, or over sized then you don't eat wings often, sorry.  And, if you claim you're a connoisseur, you're not really.  The wings are generally seasoned well, cooked nearly perfect, but a smidgen over.  Three minutes less cook time and the wings would have rested spot on.  Fries are frozen, but they are old school Burger King style so you can't knock that.  Cabbage is pretty tasty with the smoked turkey, but needs some salt to really make it sing.

    Bar: BYOB

Price: Higher than what a wing place should charge.  The pricing for 12 wings or a combo meal is kind of suspect.

Overall: For now I'll start with four stars, but after more subsequent visits this review could be subject to change.  The wings are delicious, definitely warrant repeat visits for those alone.

  2. I was really excited about Buffalo's Chicken Shack the first time I went but, that feeling faded pretty fast.

The food here is good, but definitely nothing to rave over. For a place with such a big reputation in the Hackensack area, I was hoping for something with a more. The outside of their chicken and ribs are tasty, but when you get near the bones, it's completely bland. In my opinion, this may be due to a lack of preparation. (Not enough brining/marinating). The portion sizes are decent but, on more than one occasion, my take out order was incomplete (no roll) or missing utensils.

Although, the location of this restaurant is conveniently right off of Route 17, it's also right across from an elementary school. Trying to find street parking within a decent walking distance can be a nightmare during peak hours. In addition to this, the exterior of the building is not very inviting. Once you get inside, it's not much better. The furniture is cheap looking, the flooring is cheap looking,
the staff's clothing are baggy and stained. While it's hardly the worst place I've been to, it just shows me that they are not detail oriented which, unfortunately, reflects in other aspects of their business.

For a BBQ place, I am very happy with the pricing. The ribs are especially a good deal. There are other specials depending on what day of the week you go. You can get a pretty decent meal here without too big of a dent in your pocket.

As a few people have already mentioned in their reviews, the service at this place needs a lot of work. I don't think the staff realize how much their attitude affects people's dining experience. Although I have never stayed in to eat here, the limited interactions I've had with the employees was not what I was expecting. A few of my order were very sloppily put together with little regard for presentation. If I had to put it in words, I'd have to say that it just feels like they don't care whether you eat at their restaurant or not.

    Food: 3/5
    Environment: 2/5
    Price: 4/5
    Service: 2/5

Overall, I will probably still eat at Buffalo's Chicken Shack again, but don't let the high reviews on this Yelp page fool you, this place is pretty average.

  3. Came in for wing night with the girls and my oh my, we were not disappointed!

Learned that this joint is BYOB (awwwyeaaah) so walked down the block to pick up some beers. It was a full house and there were people coming in and out for takeout orders too. Always a good sign.

We sat at the counter and got to see all the action. I got a lil too excited when I saw that they threw on a PILE of pulled pork on the grill for our "small" nachos. Sizzling crispy tender porky goodness drizzled with tangy bbq sauce… Ermagawd… These nachos weren't small in size or flavor! Def will ask for extra jalapenos next time.

Wings are 60 cents a piece on Weds. My fave, as always, were the urban bourbon & spicy garlic parmesan = like crack. Jerk sauce was ehhh.

My favorite part is the hospitality that just radiates from the family that runs this spot. I heard one of the regulars call the manager (owner?) Mama Bear and I pretty much swooned. I saw that they had chicken & RED VELVET waffles (WHAT) on the menu too which is just another reason for me to come back.

    Winner winner chicken dinner!!!

  4. Came for some hot wings because hey thats why i do.. I love wings! And i indeed got some fire hot wings!… Ordered 5 Original Spicy and 5 Firestarters… The originals were nice and crispy just wasn't a fan of the slight sweet taste to them at the end. The firestarters were straight crunchy fire in my mouth! I really enjoyed them but 5 were good enough for me (2 glasses of water too). I would come back and try other items I saw on the menu and probably different wing flavors. Wish I knew it was BYOB before i sat down damnit!

  5. I came with a friend out who mentioned this was their go-to place with another friend (Dave) who recently passed. I wanted to check out one of his favorite spots in honor of his memory. We got there close to closing so we ordered small. We got Dave's favorite fries with cheese, jalepeños, with pulled pork….omg, so good! It seemed like a meal in itself! Our wing orders were the honey dipped (?) and garlic Parmesan sauce. The wings were pretty big so I can see how an order plus fries can be filling! The people there are so sweet. They remembered my friend although it had been a few weeks since they last saw him. I want to try their other wing sauces…so I'm definitely coming back! Here's to you, Dave!

  6. I have never actually eaten here, but, we've done take out a few times and the wings are AWESOME!! We've tried the hot wings and the garlic parm. Hot wings were not to hot and the garlic parm, well I can't stop thinking about them!

Reasonably priced, we paid $28 for 25 wings, but the wings are pretty big!

Must try, parking stinks, hence the take out all the time!

  7. I tried Buffalo's a few years ago when they first opened up. I had the BBQ chicken and wasn't feeling the sauce.
I returned the other day  to pick up some jumbo buffalo wings to bring to a friends house. I saw all the good wing reviews and figured I'd give it a shot.
The wings were a hit! I bought 30  and tried 3 flavors…. Original, honey, and Parmesan. They were all good and were quite large. Definitely will be back for the wings.

  8. Juicy wings with a bunch of sauce options.

Tried the sweet thai, original spicy, and the jerk sauces. Favorite hands down was the sweet thai. The original spicy isn't the typical buffalo sauce – wouldn't try that one again. The jerk was spicy with almost a tangy fruity kick.

Definitely would go back to try out more sauces! One of the top few wing places I've been to.

FYI if you're trying to order from here for the superbowl, they don't sell any during the day of. They only do preorders!
