Came here on one of our annual excursions into Brooklyn… sorry BK, too damn hard to get there more frequently…
Came here after a day taking pictures at the waterfront and stopping by the Transit museum to look at old subway cars. We were in desperate need of a coffee and some sugar. Luckily, Bien Cuit was our next stop and we were ready to grab a seat and chill out.
The store smelled heavenly… I had to seriously hold back from ordering everything. We settled on a grape tart and both eclair varieties. They didn't feel heavy at all… maybe all that walking before worked up a nice appetite. The presentation was on point, fancy enough that you knew there was a lot of skill involved in making it, but not overly pretentious and covered in edible gold leaf.
It was a really pleasant experience and the staff were super cool and friendly as well. Exactly, the Brooklyn vibe I like.
Cute cafe in Brooklyn with an assortment of bread baked on site.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon to study with my friend and bumped into another one who lives in the area. He frequents this cafe and usually buys a loaf of bread a week.
Walking in there are 4 tables for two (or one if you're working with a laptop) by the window and 4 more lined against the brick wall opposite the bread/cashier. They also have patio seating in the back but it was chillier than we thought for a summer day so we didn't sit out there.
I got a soy latte and it was good. My friend got a coffee and a pan au chocolate – no complaints. They also have some cute desserts that I didn't try but they looked good!
I would come back to study.

SO GOOD. We got a few goat cheese tarts and croissants to eat there and they were so good that we got a few things to go include pain de chocolate and croissants. I heated them up for breakfast the rest of the week…. did not regret that decision. 🙂
It's warm like a spring day. Yay, let's go on an adventure in Brooklyn! Since I was in the neighborhood, I couldn't do without coming here as they are famous for their baked goods. They have an interesting variety of eclairs (chocolate, grapefruit, pistachio). I had the grapefruit (coriander cremeux, prickly pear glaze, pomegranate seeds, candied jicama and orange zest). Fruity dessert feels lighter for the belly. Their croissant are perfect, buttery, flaky, just like how they make it in Heaven. I believe that's where they got their recipe. And they are quite large in size. Now, I hope that I'll find myself wandering again in this neighborhood so that I can enjoy more of their croissants.
Came here for a meeting yesterday. It was about 10 and the place was pretty full, that is to say there was only one table left. There is an average amount of seating so if you are going during a high traffic time you might want to plan to take things to go.
The regular coffee is fantastic and also fantastically cheap. Very few times do I go to places like this and the coffee is less than 3 dollars. The chocolate croissant (brioche au chocolat) was 3:50, which is a pretty typical price. But it was absolutely delicious, perfectly flaky and crisp on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside.
While the two things I got were enjoyable, the ambiance is pretty mediocre and the service was a little lack luster. I wanted a chai latte, and as I can't have dairy I asked for almond milk. They apparently had none, no soy milk either, which seemed like a huge lack of foresight on their behalf–No one noticed at closing the night before or at open that there wasn't enough almond and/or soy milk? It was 10 when I got there, some one could have fixed that pretty quickly since they'd already been open for a couple hours.
Also, I had never been there before and it was raining outside and I had no umbrella so I was a little frazzled when I arrived and I didn't realize that you order at the front of the counter and then get your coffee order at the very narrow end of the counter. Instead of saying this to me when they saw me sitting at my table waiting for my coffee to appear where I ordered as my coffee got cold at the end of the counter, they just looked at me and whispered to each other which made me feel really uncomfortable.
So even though the coffee was great and the croissant was delicious I would likely never come back because the service was poor and the atmosphere was just kind of stale, generic, and pretentious.
Great place to stop in for a cup of coffee and pastries during an afternoon break. They specialize in really delicious bread.
Highly recommend their iced latte with almond milk, pistachio eclairs, and raisin croissant.
For such an awesome place, I loved how unpretentious and low key it was.
This bakery offers a variety of French inspired treats. There are breakfast pastries like croissants that are crispy, buttery, and flakey. There are savory pastries like ham and cheese croissants. There are fantastic breads. There is EXCELLENT coffee. All of the baked goods are rich with flavor and baked perfectly in the French style. The coffee is tasty and well made. Good coffee beans are used. I love coming here!
What could be more rejuvenating in a cool autumn evening than a latte made with actual pumpkin?! Pumpkin-spice fanatics, this place is a must try. The latte is made with a purée of pumpkin, molasses, honey, and pumpkin pie seasonings. It adds a surprisingly delicate pumpkin spice flavor and gives the latte a smooth, creamy texture. The slightly nutty flavor of the almond milk makes this a delicious treat. You definitely pay for what you get ($4.50 for 12oz). I had a French almond cookie along with the latte- thin, crispy, buttery, and nutty. Just teetering on the edge of crispy and overdone.
The space itself is very large, with an industrial yet natural feel. The wifi is good, and the staff don't seem to mind the company. There are plenty of other goodies on the menu, but they seem to specialize in breads. I noticed wine on the menu as well.
