Wooho I was able to find this speakeasy Jamaican spot while roaming in the area. This resturant cooks like home cokked food. The place is not fancy and has a buffet type arrangement.
I had the goat curry, rice/beans with comes with plantains and salad. I think it was like 6 bucks. The food was so tasty and flavorfull. I got the small size portion even then it was a lot of food, yes a lot of Good Food. The meat was so tender and it was falling off the bones.
The service was decent too, the staff behind the counter had a smile on thier faces 🙂 Come to JJ's for some authentic food which will not break your bank.
JJ's is my new go to place for my jamaican food cravings fix!
The taste and set up is very similar to the Golden and Silver Krust "fast food" restaurant chains but when it comes to Jamaican food, you can't afford to stray too far if you want to keep your Jamrock customers.
This "restaurant" isn't very well kept but I've used the term restaurant loosely, as it's more a take away or sit on either one of the three tables, eat quickly and leave spot. There is also a side bar/counter made out of exposed wood with wooden stools running aling one side of the shop. What I didnt like about that was it looks like pinewood (at least the color) and kept all the food stain of previous customer's spillage. There's no proper dinning in here.
Their jerk chicken and rice tasted nice. Maybe it's just me but I'm a stickler for cleanliness and I couldn't get why more pride isn't put into this FOOD business.
Two stars for the cashier who is friendly (if not a little too chatty) and one star for the food.
